What 5 TJ's products...?

Is the crunchy peanut butter with flax and chia seeds currently available in TJ stores? I loved the one that contained flax seeds a few years ago. Unfortunately that got recalled.

Trader Joe's YAY/NAY - March 2014 [OLD]

Sadly I can't recommend TJ's peanut butter. It is very thin and watery. So watery that it has to be spooned onto a piece of bread rather than spread. Taste is good, and ingredients are just peanuts and salt, but the consistency leaves something to be desired. I loved the version that was recalled...it was a Valencia Peanut Butter with Flax Seeds.

Muffalatta?

Kings Supermarket Bakery sells a King Cake. Unfortunately, it is not that good.

TJ's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds?

Sorry for the cross posting, but has anyone found a substitute for TJ's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds and Sea Salt since the recall last year due to contamination with Salmonella? I really miss the stuff and the staff at my local TJ's does not know if or when it will be coming back.

Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flax Seeds?

I do so miss Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flax Seeds since the recall due to Salmonella last summer. Have any Chowhounds found any similar products? My TJ store staff say they don't know if and when it will be coming back.

Trader Joe's coming to Randolph

Heard a rumor that the plans for Trader Joe's in Randolph have been cancelled. Can anyone confirm? I, for one will be very disappointed if true.

Suggestions for Rehearsal Dinner in Tinton Falls area?

The wedding is at the Sterling Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel in Tinton Falls. Any suggestions for a rehearsal dinner location? Guessing about 35 people so probably a locale with a private room and moderately priced?

baby shower brunch/lunch venue Morristown

I've been to both places for lunch and private parties and i would call the price range for the Grand Cafe moderate and the Black Horse a bit less expensive. The ambience and service is as good as the food and well worth the $$, IMHO.

baby shower brunch/lunch venue Morristown

The Grand Cafe in Morristown has lovely private rooms and great food. The Black Horse Inn in nearby Mendham has a nice private room upstairs with good food. Both venues would be nice for a shower.

Agreed. Only go there if the Americana is too crowded.

ISO: good restaurant near Randolph (80th b-day party)

La Strada is close, consistently good food and service and mid-range in price.

Vegas: Best Dinner Buffet for around $30 a person?

Recently had dinner at the Bayside Buffet at Mandalay Bay. Very good food, lots of variety.
Service was pleasant and efficient. If your party likes crab legs, this is the place to go.

Looking for cranberries (fresh or frozen) in South Jersey area!

I buy them frozen in the freezer section of Kings Supermarket. They are with the other frozen fruits. Great and easy recipe for a basic cranberry sauce is on the back of the package.

Sucasunna area

Unfortunately, there are mostly chains in the Succasunna area: Ruby Tuesday's, Outback, Friday's, Houlihan's. I have not been there as yet but there is a new "Asian Fusion" Filipino restaurant, Anita's, on the westbound side of 10 near the Rt.46 intersection. Sushi Hanna on Rt. 10 East is consistantly good with pleasant and efficient service.
La Strada is nice, on the Succasunna/Roxbury boarder on the eastbound side but is not BYO and will probably require a reservation.
Morristown is not too far away, Andaman Sea restaurant is very good and BYO but may be a hassle to get there due to the First Night celebration.
Please let us know if you go to Anita's.

K-Paul v. Court of Two Sisters

Hello. We will be in New Orleans for a meeting for only a couple of evenings and are eagerly planning dinner. I fondly remember a wonderful dinner at K-Paul's pre Katrina, but one of our group already made a reservation at Court of Two Sisters. Which of the two restaurants would fellow foodies prefer? If you had only two nights in town are there other restaurants that are MUSTS? Appreciate any advice.

Newark Area for Pre-concert Dinner

I second the Grill at NJPAC. We had a lovely dinner there; lovely room, attentive service and a very good dinner presented beautifully. I had a wonderful Niman Ranch pork chop that practically melted in my mouth. The wine list was impressive with selections to fit each wallet.

What to wear to Chef Vola's

For pete's sake...it's in the basement of a house! Watch out for the pipes overhead and the walk through the prep area if you have to use the washroom. IMHO, this place is highly over rated and over priced.

Public House, Chester NJ and Mendham News

As locals to the area and recently decided to try the new incarnation of the Public House which was opened and renovated last year under new ownership. Although the renovation was very nice and very much needed, the new restaurant left us quite dissappointed.

We arrived during the dinner period during the week. The host pleasantly told us that we had to wait for a table, but assured us that we would have to wait for a table no longer than 20 minutes. After informing him that we would like to wait at the bar, he escorted us there.
And there we sat for the 20 minutes, ignored by the bartender who chatted with the other waitpersons, other customers, and washed the glasses. She never looked up to attend to the newcomers at the bar, and was not attentive enough to notice any attempts to gain her attention. After the 20 minutes the host came up to us to bring us to our table.

We complained to him about the lack of attention. There was no apology given, only a statement "I will talk to her".

The server was attentive. Our menus were given promptly, some nice bread was put on the table. After a short interval, our order was taken. Fifteen minutes later, our server returned and apologized that they were out of my appetizer and my husband's dinner choice and would we please choose something else.

After what seemed to be an interminable wait, our food was eventually brought out. It was just OK, nothing special, and overcooked. The most positive thing I can say about it was that the food was warm. It took a long time to get the server's attention to get a fork replaced, and also to bring the check.

All in all, a very dissappointing experience.

Also, recently heard a rumor from another restauranteur in the area that the Black Horse Inn, Pub, and sister restaurant Mackenzie's has been sold and to the people that bought the Public House!

Most palatable diet sodas?

Have you tried Canfield's Diet Chocolate Fudge? Iced cold, it has a fairly good chocolate flavor that hits the spot when you have a chocolate craving. With a little milk, it almost passes as an egg cream.
