Food prank -- pulled on you or by you

Ahh this sounds like a job for Myth Busters!! This I've got to see.

Food prank -- pulled on you or by you

Well,

This is just a little off topic but after reading the "White chocolate" soap desert I thought I'd chime in on a prank that was completely successful!

Some years ago I worked in the 911 Center for the San Diego Sheriff's Department and one early morning around 5 A.M. the Homicide Team was meeting in our briefing room before heading out on a mission. Some of us Dispatchers took a can of shaving cream, loaded up the ear piece on a telephone, placed a line on hold and the first guy who walked in was told "Hey there's a call on hold in the Lieutenants Office for you" The first Deputy was really PO'd but then realized how funny it was. That morning, we got the whole team! Everyone got a FOAM CALL!

Once and for all -- rice in a burrito -- Yay or nay?

NAY!!!

If I want rice it will be on the side. I'm so tired of all the fillers these places come up with just to reduce the amount of real stuff inside the burrito.

EXAMPLE:

Breakfast Burrito;

Eggs, Cheese, Bacon, Sausage or Chorizo, Salsa. PERIOD!

No Beans, Rice, Fries, whatever. . . .

Thanks for letting me vent.

San Diego Fried Chicken

Oh No!

Popeye's is OK but I'd recommend several places for the Chicken aficionado.

First, Jimmy's in Santee serves a very nice Boasted Chicken Dinner that is wonderful! Second, I'd recommend a little place on the 4700 block of El Cajon Blvd, South side with a large sign “FRIED CHICKEN”. This is the bulk of their business and the line is almost always out the door. The last place I'd suggest is a new place called California Chicken located on the Northwest Corner of University and 70th street. I've had their chicken twice and both times have been very good. Their Red Beans and rice is good, maybe not as good as Popeye's but I think their chicken is better.

Recommendation for San Diego

If you're into Microbrew beer, don't miss Karl Straus Brewery's, they are located in Downtown on Columbia, La Jolla, Carlsbad, and Sorrento Valley.

Each of them have a little different menu, I like the La Jolla one myself for the food, beer, and location it makes for a very nice evening.

Fried Chicken in San Diego Area

I grew up at 69th and Imperial, my Dad had a Lawnmower shop across the street from the grave yard on Imperial. MANY Saturday's hanging out at the Lawnmower shop watching cartoons and eating Huffmans BBQ! I didn't know Huffman's offer fried chicken, I'll have to take a drive now that I live in La Mesa.

Thanks for the 411.

Jimmy's in Santee, that's on Mission George Road and corner of Olive Street, across from Costco. YOU WILL NOT! be disapointed. I consider myself a Broasted Chicken Addict seeking them as I travel and Jimmy's though not an official Broasted Chicken location, is really good.

You might also try the California Chicken at the cornor of 70th and University Ave, La Mesa. Not Broasted Chicken but a special process that leaves the chicken fully cooked, wonderful crunchy outside, not greasy, but very moist and tender.

Try Jimmy's first and let me know. Seriously, I take all my friends there and introduce them to Broasted Chicken and they always want to go back, and I also go there for my birthday's.

No I'm not an owner just a long time satisfied customer.

Fried Chicken in San Diego Area

Hey after looking over this wonderful service and searching out "Broasted Chicken" I thought, wouldn't it be great to have folks submit their favorite Fried Chicken locations for San Diego Area.

My number one pick is Jimmy's in Santee, second runner up is the Fried Chicken place in the 4700 Block of El Cajon Blvd. Also, California Chicken at the corner of 70th & University.

Any one else like to add to this??

BREAKFAST ON CHRISTMAS???

Check City Deli 6th/University, I love there breakfasts. For that matter I haven't had a bad meal in over 10 years of going there..

Merry Christmas!

San Diego Worst Meals of 2006

Por Favor in La Mesa is absolutly the worst excuse for a Mexican restaurant bar none! Unfortunately there are several around east county and all of them, I've been to all of them, are the same, BAD! My family and I walked out of the El Cajon locations because of service and what I saw being served around us.

BEWARE!!

Recommendation for San Diego

That really depends on what you want. Jewish Deli? Mexican, Afgan, Thi, Sushi, Irish, American??

30 Min's ago I just had a wonderful Broasted Chicken dinner including desert at Jimmy's in Santee on Mission George and Olive Lane. Wonderful food, high quality, and decent prices.

Also, if you check www.broastedchicken.com you can input your zip code and they'll direct you to the nearest Broasted Chicken establishment. Note, that's Official Broasted Chicken places only. There are Henny Penny's around which is extreemly close to Broasted Chicken.

Broasted Chicken

I'm a Broasted Chicken Fanatic and second Pittsburg Broasted Chicken on Katella in Los Alamitos. It's good but under new owners. The Chicken is high quality but a little skimpy on the Mojo's. St. Pauls (has new name but right across from Los Alamitos Race Track in strip mall) just to the East of Pittsburg has Broasted Chicken that was REALLY Good. Unfortunately they too are under new management and quality has gone down..:-(

In the San Diego area, Jimmy's in Santee off Highway 52 east of 125 on Mission George Road and Olive Lane has Broasted Chicken, just ate there 30 mins ago and it was AWESOME!!! Their Broasted Chicken dinner includes sides and desert, served all the time..
