Since everyone seems to be fighting a cold... Amidst the sniffling and sneezing in the subway and on the street, I must know: best chicken soup in NYC? Preferably with noodles, of course, and maybe even a matzo ball? |

Business Lunches/Dinners - Midtown Thanks all! |

Cube marketplace, cheesebar and cafe I used to live in Cube's neighborhood and right before I left LA became obssessed with the place - if you like cured meats and cheeses generally, it is a GREAT little spot. Very casual and not the most experienced service of all time, but the price is right, the food delicious, and it's a very friendly environment. My one complaint was the lack of a very nearby wine store, but that is hardly Cube's fault and both Ralph's and Trader Joe's are just a few blocks down on La Brea. 100% worth a visit. |

Agree with above, it's very average. But non-foodies should find it ok, if a bit dark inside, and the fish sandwich isn't bad. If you wanted to go someplace more expensive Bread Bar at Tabla is right there also... |

I wouldn't go so far as to call the food "excellent," but Mishima, right off La Cienga on Third, is very tasty, amazing value, and definitely the opposite of trendy...http://www.mishima.com/ |

Business Lunches/Dinners - Midtown Looking to update my list of go-to places for great (upscale) business lunches and dinners - preferably in mid-Midtown (why is this never an option?) as our offices are in Rockefeller Center and my bosses are not going to walk all the way to 8th or 2nd avenues, nor get in a cab with potential clients. If anyone has been to an especially memorable business-friendly location lately I'd love suggestions! |

Refrigerate, then take it out about an hour or so beforehand to soften and freshen up the flavor. That is what the lovely people at the cheese shop across the street suggested to me and it works great. I am a big believer in refrigeration for dairy (i.e would not store fresh milk/butter on a windowsill, although I am aware many people do this and they're fine :)). Hope your guests enjoy! |

After-work outing in Midtown - please advise! Thanks, that might be just the spot to please my budget-minded boss, although I wonder if there will be room for us to sit down? I forgot to specify in the original post that our group is about 12-14 people. |

After-work outing in Midtown - please advise! Yikes! My boss wants me to plan an office outing to a bar with decent snacks, and I am feeling the pressure...the office is in Rockefeller Center and walking distance is a must. Price not much of an object as we will mostly drink beer. We'll go early (@6pm) so hopefully crowds won't be a problem. Any ideas are appreciated! |
