Baltimore Cafe

Is there a cafe where patrons can get brunch or just tea and sit around for a couple hours not being rushed by wait staff in Baltimore? I used to go to Domku, enjoy brunch then sit for a while doing work or reading a book undisturbed. I have been trying to find a place like Domku in Baltimore without much luck. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Wedding Cupcakes

After tasting several cupcakes companies around Baltimore, we decided on Creations by Gale. Gale's cupcakes were amazing! Everyone who tasted one commented how amazing the cupcakes tasted. We would highly recommend Creations by Gale for anyone's party cupcakes and cake needs.

Baltimore Blogs

Are there any good food and/or restaurant blogs for Baltimore that are highly recommended? Thanks!

Fish Restaurant Name in San Antonio

I don't think it was either though Sandbar sounds good. Perhaps it was not a seafood restaurant though I remember it having many fish options on the menu. There was not an oyster bar rather a few different rooms that were not very large. I tend to eat a lot of fish but not shellfish and for some reason five years later, the meal stands out. It was about a 20 minute walk from the Hyatt.

Fish Restaurant Name in San Antonio

In 2007, I went to a restaurant that was highly recommended for its seafood on a work trip in San Antonio. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name but would like to go back to it on an upcoming work trip. The place also had good drinks.

While I was staying on the Riverwalk, it was about a mile to a mile and a half walk from the Riverwalk area to the restaurant. On the walk, we passed by a radio station festival in a courtyard, passed what look like a drive-in restaurant and ended up in a single house building which was a restaurant with good drinks and fish dishes. There was also a tower building on the left a few blocks away that we passed on the walk.

Do you know which restaurant? It was recommended a few times to my colleagues and I by locals who lived in the area. If not, are there any good places to get fish for dinner? Thank you!

Graduation Dinner.....Milton Inn or Prime Rib

I was debating this question just yesterday. We are planning a graduation dinner in Baltimore with out of town guests. While we enjoy the prime rib, we just went this past weekend. Thought about Oregon Grille and Milton Inn however have read that the quality of their food has gone down. Where else is there to do a graduation dinner in the Baltimore region that is special?

Made in the Baltimore Region

I am working on my welcome bags which will include products made in the Baltimore region. In making a list of items to include, I have come up with
Berger cookies,
Goetze's caramel creams,
Mary Sue bites,
Utz potato chips,
Clipper Tea and
Natty Boh beer.

What other food products are made in the Baltimore region? I know about the different spices but don't think they are best to include in a welcome bag. Thanks!

CR Lounge in ex-Ixia?

Has anyone been to Creme? Today, I walked by it for the first time and found the menu intriguing. The interior is beautiful but we were not hungry so I can't review the food. We are thinking of taking out of town relatives for a nice dinner there in a few weeks however we can't find many reviews online. Thanks!

I am interested in their Baltimore location on Charles Street. http://www.crloungebalt.com/

Wedding Cupcakes

My fiance and I are considering a cupcake display/tree instead of a cake for our wedding in Baltimore. Unfortunately we are not finding many reviews on cupcake wedding cakes. Do you know of any bakeries that specialize in wedding cupcakes? If not, where would recommend for the cupcakes? We were considering Georgetown Cupcakes or Sprinkles. Thank you!

Cuban in Palm Beach County

Are there any good Cuban restaurants around Lake Worth? I would like to take my grandparents to dinner at a Cuban restaurant this trip and can not recall any Cuban restaurants in the Lake Worth area. I recently moved to a new town where there are no Cuban restaurants and am missing the delicious Cuban chicken dishes from the neighborhood restaurant. Thus this will also be a treat for me. Thank you!

Baltimore-Old school restaurants? No touristy or chain places please

I am surprised that no one recommended Attmans for lunch. It is a deli that has been around for generations. Their sandwiches are huge and filling. I have friends who come to Baltimore just for a sandwich from Attmans.

Another old school place would be the Owl Bar at the Belevedere. It has been open since the 1920s and still has a lot of the original furniture. There is a bit of history to the decor that if you ask the waiters they will tell you. It is more like a bar than a restaurant. I would recommend going there if you want a light dinner such as pizza or sandwiches.

Chiapparelli's tends to get busy on the weekends so I would recommend to call ahead. The salad is very good. I would not recommend La Scala as the food is just mediocre.

As a child, I remember going to Friendly Farms which is north of Timonium. It is a farm style meal where you select the entre and all the sides, desserts and salads are family style. It may be of interest to your son.

Cafe Hon, while it has only been around for 15 years or so, always feels like old Baltimore. It is in Hampden, which reminds me of what parts of Baltimore must have been like in the 1950s. The food is decent and won't break the wallet.

best crab cake baltimore

Has there been any recent updates to this post? I have a group coming to town and was going to take them to Obrycki's for crab cakes. They are staying downtown in the harbor area so I am trying to find a location near their hotel. However, Obrycki's is closed for the winter and I am looking for other suggestions on where to go for crab cakes. Unfortunately G&M and Friendly Farms are not reasonable taxi fares from downtown.

Where do you recommend downtown for crab cakes?

Extended Restaurant Week?

I am returning to San Diego for work and am again wondering if any of the restaurants are extending restaurant week specials. Unfortunately, I do not arrive until January 23rd and will be staying downtown without a car.

Are any of the restaurants extending their restaurant week specials? Is there a web site I can find out? Thank you!

St. Leonard

Does anyone have any recommendations for dinner in the St. Leonard area? We are not particular on the type of food and price range is between $15 and $30 for an entree.

We are heading down on a Saturday night, looking for a non-chain good meal. While not a requirement, it would be nice if the resturant has televisions as the playoffs will be on during dinner. Thank you!

Need BRIDAL SHOWER Venue Ideas!!!

I would second checking out Darlington House's second floor for the special event.

You may also want to check the second floor of Policy to see what options. They may be able to do an assortment of appitzers within your budget.

If Social has not closed in Columbia Heights, they may be able to do it as well within your budget.

A friend recently mentioned that Carmine's does special events in Chinatown. With their family size portions, you may be able to do it under $30pp.

Romance - Baltimore

I also would recommend Blue Hill Tavern. Good food and dessert!

Another place I would recommend for romantic and not too pricy would be Meli in Fells Point. Not too expensive and they have some areas in the dining room that are somewhat separate from other tables. The food was good for the most part on my last visit there.

Ethnic Food Tour

We have done Salvadoran and Peruvian in the past, though if you have a good restaurant recommendation we are definitely up to trying it. This is mostly an adventure for trying places and cuisines we don't typically think of off the top of heads.

Ethnic Food Tour

Our preference is for DC or Maryland. Ideally, we would prefer the places to be metro/bus accessible since only one of us has a car and doesn't always have access to it.

This started out as a conversation between friends out to dinner and grew to making a list of types of foods and places to go after getting bored with some of the same type of restaurants. Ideally, we wanted to explore new places and try new types of foods. Also, we love to travel and thought this would be an interesting adventure with a rush similar to traveling. It is totally for fun between friends. There are no plans to plan tours for anyone or charge people.

We will probably go to one place at a time with the tour spreading out over several meals.

Ethnic Food Tour

My friend and I are starting an ethnic food tour through DC. We are planning on going to off the beaten path restaurants to try as close to authentic ethnic foods in DC. Right now we are still in the research stages. If there are any good ones in Baltimore, we would be willing to go there for a couple restaurants.

Do you have any recommendations for the following types of ethnic restaurants?
Lebanese
Ethiopian
Greek
Moroccan
Indian
West African
Vietnamese
Korean BBQ
Ukrainian
Finnish
Georgian
Argentinean
Chilean

Any other types of cuisines we should try? Thank you!!

Pre-wedding meeting of the parents

Mrs. K's Toll House may be a good option. It looks like a place where some people have weddings or celebrations for special occasions so that should set the mood a bit. The food is decent and it falls into the price range. There should be something on the menu for everyone.

One meal off 95- what should it be?

A few years ago, there was recommendations to go to G & M or the Olive Grove in Linthicum, MD. G & M for crabs/crab cakes and Olive Grove for Italian.

Georgia Avenue Between Shepherd Park

I have been to Domku and love it. Actually that is when I see these restaurants mostly is when I am driving down to Domku or the pizza place in Columbia Heights. They look interesting but I have not tried them yet. There are a number of international restaurants that look to have authentically prepared cuisine.

What is bread cheese?

I had the Carr Valley garlic bread cheese this weekend and it was amazing. I wish I would have purchased more to bring back with me.

Do they still sell it at Wegmans? It is a bit of a drive for me but I would totally make it for more of the cheese.

Visiting Baltimore for a week

I tend to take out of town guests to Chiapparelli's for the salad and brunch at Ms. Shirley's at the inner harbor. They all have seemed happy with their meals.

Georgia Avenue Between Shepherd Park

Every once in a while, I drive down Georgia Ave from Shepherd Park to Petworth. There are many small ethnic restaurants along the road that look interesting but I have never stopped to try. Before I move from the area, I want to try at least one of them. (I am making a list of places to try in the region before moving in 2.5 months.)

Are there any restaurants on Georgia Ave between Shepherd Park and Petworth that I should try?

Silver Spring Brunch

I am planning a brunch in the Silver Spring area for 6 adults (4 from out of town) for a special occasion. Originally I was thinking Mrs. K's or Jackies however with a number of new restaurants recently opened in the area I am not sure they are the best restaurant. I checked other posting but they were either older or not for special occasions.

Where would you recommend for brunch in the Silver Spring area?

Baltimore/Baltimore County Restaurant Week

I am just starting to explore the Baltimore restaurant scene after a long break. Noticing that Baltimore and Baltimore County Restaurant Weeks are coming up, I was thinking of making some reservations. Many of the restaurants recommended to try three years ago are not on the list this summer.

Any recommendations on where we should try this year? We are open to all types of cuisine.

Fruit Smoothie

Where do you recommend getting a fruit smoothie downtown that is made with real fruit not a prepared liquid substance and ice? I am trying to think of a place that uses real fruit but all I can think of are cafes and coffee shops that use a liquid substance and ice. Thanks!

Non-Chain Options in The Woodlands

Hi!

I am traveling to the Woodlands for four nights and am looking for non-national chain restaurants to eat at during my stay. Unfortunately, I will not be able to get into Houston. I did a quick search but did not see too many recent reviews for the Woodlands.

Do you have any recommendations of where I should check out? I understand that I should try America's one night. There are no cuisine restrictions as long as there are non-pork/shellfish options available on the menu. Local chains or chains that are Texas-based are okay.

Thank you!

Saturday Bottomless Brunch

Are there any good bottomless brunches in DC on Saturday? I have been searching for a good brunch on a Saturday preferably by the mall that with food does not cost more than $25 (excluding tax and tip). Unfortunately, most of the brunches I have came across are either a distance from the mall, more than $25, on Sunday only or at a restaurant/bar where I would not eat at during the week. Thanks!
