Any good chow in South Bend, Indiana?
We were recently in South Bend and ate at the LaSalle Grill. I believe it was very expensive by Indiana standards, but really, really good. Excellent service.
The Fiddler's Hearth was also excellent food, although the service was not as friendly. Also, we had lunch on the Notre Dame campus at the Morris Inn (I believe?). The food was excellent, but I don't think they served alcohol?
san carlos chinese
We like Yan's Garden, particularly the delivery option. Some items are better than others. I really like their Phoenix and Dragon for not spicy. Their potstickers and fried wontons are good too.
There is also a place in Foster City, called ABC Seafood, that is outstanding. It was recommended by a Chinese friend, who is a real "foodie".
Azure - new - San Carlos
We went for a second time last night. It was even better than out first. We also had the tuna and the scallop starters. And then the two specials for the day, vension and petrale sole. Don't miss the Grand Marnier souffle for dessert- it has to be ordered ahead It is so nice to have such a good restaurant that is quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
new restaurants in San Carlos, Redwood City
We discovered Azure walking down El Camino in the afternoon. We went back at night to try it for dinner, and had to drive around the block looking for it.
The appetizers and salads were wonderful. I thought my main (a fish dish) was a little "heavy" with the sauce. My husband had a pork dish and raved about the sausage that came with it. We will definitely go back, it is quiet, relaxed and small, unlike many places in the area. Also, the owner had a stroke shortly before the restaurant opened and his wife and some friends are running.
Good Indian Food on the North Peninsula
Saffron is wonderful. We have eaten there since they opened. I used to work for a British company and really missed the great Indian food in the UK.
Recently, Saffron has gotten a new chef, and I think the food has gotten even better, although maybe spicier. Try it!
