Honmura An Shall I go?

I really love Honmura An. The food is light, but very satisfying and the staff has always been friendly and efficient. If you end up going, I recommend the Soba Gaki (they describe it as a japanese "gnocchi"), Tori Dango (fried chicken meatballs) as appetizers. They also have a really good omelet appetizer, but i forget what its called.I prefer the Soba entrees. Oh, and the green tea ice cream is really tasty, too.

Black Hound Chocolate

i've never had their chocolates, but the cakes are really good. I usually pick up a couple of the personal-sized cakes - their maybe the size of two cupcakes - and share with my boyfriend. That way we can each have something we love and try something different. The chocolate cake with raspberry gelee and ganache is one of my favorites.

The perfect day in LES and Chinatown

pommes frites and chickpea are not exactly convienant after a tenement museum visit. Unless, of course, you start in that area and move your way downtown towards Orchard St. Il laboratorio is definately worth a visit. If you want something sweet that isn't as cold, i would go to sugar sweet sinshine for cupcakes. The red velvet is particularly good. If you're looking for a good coffeehouse to warm up in, then Ini Ani on Stanton between Rivington and Essex is a great place to go as well. While Katz's is great if you want the old time deli experiance, ZoZo on stanton is also a very good, quick sandwich place.

need good indian- on lower east side

Khusie is a pretty good take-out place, but they aren't always consistant. I've had really great, spicy food from them and i've had really bland stuff as well. Ghandi is much better.

Dinner Recs before Philharmonic

My boyfriend and I are going to the Philharmonic tomorrow (Sat) at 8pm. We would like to have dinner in the area - although, we would definately stray farther away than walking distance. What can you guys recommend for a no-reservations, moderately-priced (i'm thinking entrees in the $20 range) meal?

Best French Food in New York City?

Jean-Georges is not reasonable, not when its dinner time and your hungry. My favorite french restauarant is Casanis. Its a traditional Brasserie with Provençal roots.

Casanis on Ludlow and Broome. Its the best traditional French food I've had in the states. The Onion Soup is steller. Entrees run between $13-25.

L'Impero...any standouts for dinner tonight? Please.

I second the polenta with mushrooms! The chicken with fegato and the skate are also very good.

Really good, LES, inexpensive non-Asian restaurant, dinner?

Casanis is a nice, casual french restuarant on Ludlow & Broome. It fairly traditional - both food and decor - and reminds me a lot of the cafes in Paris. Its usually pretty quiet and I've never had to wait for a table.

date of sorts

La paella is a really good first date place - cozy, romantic, and really good sangria. Mostly traditional tapas, but there are some larger entrees as well. Its on 9th and 3rd.
