Good cuban resto in Miami Beach

I will be in South Beach during Art Basel. I am looking for a seriously good restaurant -- cuban would be lovely -- for Thursday night. I imagine all the hot spots are already overbooked. Do you guys have any idea for an off the beaten path option ? Also, any good advice for lunches ? Walking distance would be perfect but I will take a cab to discover a great tasty spot if needed. Thanks !

Most creative modern vegetarian/vegan

Thanks to all for your help !

Most creative modern vegetarian/vegan

Hello. Serious foodie looking for the best and most creative, modern vegetarian cooking in San Francisco. Besides Greens and Ubuntu -- and by the way, is it worth the trip to Napa ? -- what should I try ? I want to be impressed ! You can include regular restaurants that work really well with vegetables.

Where to find natural/fresh ginger ale in PDX ?

Yeah ! Thanks !!!

Where to find natural/fresh ginger ale in PDX ?

I had this incredible ginger ale at Momofuku in NYC. Where can I find it here ? It was called Bruce Cost ginger ale. Or maybe there is something similar here ? Just as good ? all natural with real fresh ginger. I loved the scratching in the throat, the spiciness...

Business lunch near Trudeau airport

Need to help businessperson find a place for a serious lunch near Trudeau airport. Any idea
?

Same style as Gjelina but in West Hollywood ?

Thank you everyone for your advice. I was finally able to make a reservation at Animal and we went there and had a blast. The food was indeed very flavorful. Lots of variety. Lots of depth. We tried the poutine, a funny thing since i am from Quebec. Not like the original thing but I loved how their fries stay crispy. Nice idea to bring back maybe. Loved the fried quails, loved the toffee dessert. Thanks again.

Same style as Gjelina but in West Hollywood ?

Seems quite hard to get a reservation at Animal for tonight. Too short notice. I did get one downtown at Church and State. What do you guys think ?

Same style as Gjelina but in West Hollywood ?

Question for L.A foodies: I am visiting L.A. briefly and have to find a restaurant for tonight in West Hollywood, in the Standard hotel area. Loved loved loved Gjelina in Venice on Abbott Kinney when I last ate there. Is there something similar in Hollywood ?

What happened to El Refugio

What happened to Ell Refugio, the bakery and empanadas place on St.Laurent ? Moved ? Closed ? Worried... Loved their empanadas.

wine and dine tour around Wash. state

I am thinking of going to Washington State for a wine and dine 5 day trip. What are the 3 star restaurants (or cool more modest places) in the countryside, in or near vineyards ?

Best street-food

Thanks for the links, although I had seen that NYMag from 2007.
Also, thanks for the info. I was wondering what had happened to Schnitzel and Things. I was on my way there when I saw the tweet about the "mishap"
Instead, tried the Biryani Cart for late lunch (46 st 6 ave). Fantastic kati rolls.
Tomorrow, where should I have breakfast ?

Best street-food

I am in NY for 3 days and want to try the new cool/upscale street food experience. What are the newest (or most classic) street food vendors ? Which ones I should not miss ? I will eat pretty much any type of food.

HELP! 2 nights in Montreal with 3 restaurant choices

I'd do
5e péché and Club chasse et pêche or La Montée.
Definitely not Laloux. New chef is, I find, very disappointing.
Europea, ok... But CCP or La Montée: better.

Best vegan in Manhattan

Is there a great vegan restaurant in NYC, like Millenium in San Francisco ? Or are there tasty vegan eateries ? I mean, flavour.

Drinkabe coffee on the Montreal South Shore ?

Caffellini in St.Bruno or Bar à chocolat Geneviève Grandbois in Dix-30. And to put extra chances on your side, just say something like: "Is it true that you guys make great coffee and really know how to operate that espresso machine ?" Chances are if there is a fine barista in the place, he/she will take care of your coffee.

soup dumplings in MTL?

thanks for the info !

Laloux: verdict on the new chef ?

Have you guys tried it since Marc-André Jetté and Patrice Demers moved out and Éric Gonzales moved in ?
What's the verdict ?

soup dumplings in MTL?

Qing Hua at Saint-Marc and Tupper has great northern food. For soup dumpling, The Noodle Factory on Saint-Urbain is also great. (I love their Shanghai style noodles also) Also, there is the Mongolian Hot Pot on De la Gauchetière and Clark, second floor. Please keep us posted with all your discoveries, I'm also totally into northern China cuisine these days...

Good olive oil taralli

Thanks for the info ! Where is Les Délices Lafrenaie ? Do they have the "mediterranean" flavor ?

Good olive oil taralli

Just got back from Puglia, in the south of Italy. Loved the taralli, this small crispy grissini-meet-pretzels type of snack everyone eats all the time. Now I am looking for real Pugliese taralli in Montréal and can't find any. Found some at Milano, but they were not great. Found some at Douceurs du marché, but made with canola oil instead of olive oil. Now, where do I go to find really good ones ?

Family with Toddlers seeking foodie neighborhood in Montreal

I think you would love the Outremont, near Bernard/Van Horne close to Mile-End area. Then you can go to Mamie Clafoutis on Van Horn for pastry and bread, to Ian Perreault prêt à manger on Bernard for foodie take-out, Geneviève Grandbois on Saint-Viateur for chocolate (and get bagels at Saint-Viateur bagels on the way), then you can do brunch at Sparrow on Saint-Laurent or have the best coffee at In Gamba on Park. And pick up cup cakes at Cocoa Locale lower on Park... And the kids will love the parks in Outremont. It's a nice residential area with tons of beautiful old trees. And Mile-End, next to it, has a bit on an artsy edge. Best mix.

Family looking for tasty dinner near Commons

Family of five looking for a great restaurant for dinner tonight. Any type of cuisine. Just great food for parents, tweens and toddler, all used to trying new things. Near Boston Commons, if possible. Does that cool place exist ?

Montreal foodie in WPB

Looking for a couple of good restaurants in the West Palm Beach area. Nothing too expensive or fancy/wannabe. Just good food. Honest. Any idea ? Good cuban maybe ?

Looking for good Moroccan catering

Does anyone know a good Moroccan food catering shop? Kosher or not. Just good. And by the way, anyone knows what happened with the owners of Le Coin du Maroc on Saint-Denis ?

Good udon noodles in Montréal ?

Chinatown, Chinatown-West, CDN, Brossard ? Anywhere ? Is there such a thing as good udon noodles in the GMA ?

3 days in Montreal - first time!

Cool ! You'll love it.

Montréal has many of these casual restaurants. And if I may, you will probably be impressed with the quality of the service in this small places, compared to NYC.

Plateau area:
Montée de lait
Bistro Bienville
Pied de cochon
Tri Express (for lunch)
Les Cons Servent
Cocagne !!!

Old Montreal

Olive et Gourmando (breakfast and lunch only)
DNA (crazy decor, excellent food and wine list, excellent service)
Le Local
Club Chasse et pêche
La Terrasse du Château Ramezay (operated by Club chasse et pêche)

Also, if you are in the Marché Jean-Talon area, go for Tapeo or Kitchen Gallery.

For fantastic coffee, try Café Santé Véritas in Old Montréal, but their food is really boring (too "healthy", no taste) or Caffe in Gamba on Park Avenue, near Outremont.

With these places in mind, you should have a good time.

Also, remember that there are many other places than the ones recommended over and over by the NY Times and other American media.

Sushi place with conveyor belt in montreal?

In Japan, it is a cheap yet excellent option, especially if you are alone. But in Montréal, there is none.
I would strongly suggest, however, a visit to the excellent Tri Express on Laurier east. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the chef prepare the sushi. You can't see it before you order it -- which I guess is what you appreciate at the conveyor belt places -- but everything is excellent and you should not worry. And you can tell the chef exactly what you like.

Kid friendly foodie place in Montreal?

Pied de cochon is a good idea.
But it's sometimes difficult to make reservations.
I also strongly recommend Cuisine et dépendance or Cocagne.
The key, I find, is to go early. It always feels more comfortable when you get there and the place is kind of empty. No one is stressed yet...
There is also Pizzeria Bottega in Little Italy, where the foodie authentic napolitan pizza is amazing. But it's not typical Quebec food...
