Please help me with coconut chicken!

Thanks everyone! I chickened out (about getting creative) and made breaded cutlets. The ginger coconut will happen, though, don't worry! :-)

Please help me with coconut chicken!

I was supposed to make it last night but there was no time. Yikes!

Please help me with coconut chicken!

My husband is annoyed that I don't make dinner every night, so I wanted to make the coconut chicken recipe from the NYT a few weeks back. However, I forgot to get ginger from the store and I can't go back because my toddler is asleep. What can I substitute for ginger?

Lunch in Greenwich

Try Meli Melo for something casual or Mediterraneo if you want to go a little more upscale. Both are on Greenwich Avenue.

I tried googling without success. :(

My husband and I LOVE the Jaques Torres cookies, too! They are quite different but exceptional, as well. Thank you so much!

You know those huge chocolate chip cookies at La Pain Quotidian?

I'm obssessed with them! They are so crunchy and crisp, I can't get enough of them. Does anyone have the recipe or know of a similar one? Thanks in advance!

Birds-eye chilis in/near Greenwich?

I'm trying out the chicken adobo recipe that was in the NYT this week, which calls for birds-eye chilis. I did my ingredient shopping at Whole Foods but didn't see them there. Any suggestions?

Sole (New Canaan) - $14 lunch Special Pretty Good Deal

I went last week with Mom and we were blown away by the lunch deal. We both really enjoyed the butternut squash soup, though. I had the Greek salad with chicken and was particularly impressed with the quality of the cheese. Mom loved the steak salad so much she returned the next day with Dad and had he same thing!

VitaMix Blender, is it worth it?

I purchased a reconditioned Vita-Mix 5200 this past Fall. I use it at least twice a day on average, and I have lost 20 pounds. For me, it was totally worth it and then some.

Best coffee in New York City?

Tarralucci e Vino or Marquette.

Shreveport, Louisiana eats?

I'm going to be in Shreveport one night this week. I've never been there before and I have no idea where I should eat. Any ideas? I enjoy most cuisines and my budget is $50 for everything (food, tip, etc.). Thanks!

Old Greenwich, Ct.- Where are the Good eats?

Funny, I love Beachhouse Cafe and my parents hated Applausi.

Help Me Find the Perfect Blender

Even though two years have passed since Niki bought her blender, this thread is still extremely helpful to me in my quest for the perfect machine. I only have one question - Niki: are you still confident with your purchase?

Recs for lunch spot near Brooklyn Botanical Gardens?

OMG, I read your post too late. The parade was nuts AND the gardens were closed, and my romantic plans turned into Nathan's at Coney Island. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Recs for lunch spot near Brooklyn Botanical Gardens?

I'm planning a special day for my boyfriend and am completely unfamiliar with the area. We love all types of food and have a liberal budget. I would liketo avoid places with tons of kids. Thanks in advance!

Are there any decent restaurants that serve sushi made with brown rice?

In case this comes up in a search, I am happy to report that I had brown rice sushi at Fusha (58th and 1st) and it was delicious.

Best thing you ate this week?

The soba salad at Yama (Irving Place). It had a light, sweet peanut sauce and was tossed with chopped asparagus and cold pieces of shrimp. It really wasn't a salad but it was deelish.

Are there any decent restaurants that serve sushi made with brown rice?

Thank you, friends! I'm trying to avoid white rice so your recommendations are invaluable. I will think of you when I am having my sushi! :-)

Anywhere in Manhattan, any price point. Thanks in advance!

Pie crust questions!

Thank you so much for all the advice! Just made a strawberry rhubarb pie that came out really well. I used a simple Allrecipes.com recipe (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Basic-Flaky-Pie-Crust/Detail.aspx) but I plan to try the Vodka recipe soon. Your words of wisdom were invaluable and I am grateful.

OK, Manhattan hounds, i *really* need your help!

Unfortunately, I have not been to most of the places on your list. However, I ate at Crispo last week and it was phenomenal. My date had the same opinion.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a pie crust bag in NYC?

I LOVE the damp-counter-under-the-wax-paper tip! Can't wait to try it out. Thanks to everyone!!

Does anyone know where I can purchase a pie crust bag in NYC?

Thanks, everyone. They didn't have one at Broadway Panhandler. I love the idea of rolling with plastic wrap but it always moves around when I do - any suggestions? Sophistk8, you sound a little judgmental and I do hope I am misreading your tone - I was hoping to find a bag in order to contain the mess in my tiny kitchen.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a pie crust bag in NYC?

It's a round plastic bag. You put your dough inside and roll it out. They don't have it at NY Cake & Bake. Thanks in advance!
