Who has the best hot sopressata in Manhattan? DiPalos is great. |
|
|
Mia Dona had them on their menu a few weeks ago. They were great and came with a cup of really good chocolate sauce on the side. |

Any ideas for fun brunch place with good food somewhere near Javits tomorrow? Thanks! |

Best Chicken Parmesean in NYC? Il Mulino's is so good. They pound it so that it is thin and it's the size of the whole plate. |

I thought it was good, but definitely not as great as I expected. The meatball sliders were really good, and were sauced and seasoned perfectly. We had the special black truffle risotto as well, and had to add some salt. The pork chop that's supposed to be the signature dish was good, and cooked well, but the scallops were plated with sort of a mess of chopped up veggies and warm grapes(?). The rasperry beniets were good, but the dough reminded me of street-cart zeppolis. I like street zeppolis, but was expecting more from TLO. So, it was very cute and cozy, but didn't live up to the hype, or my expectations. |

Thanks! I can't wait to go. |

Has anyone been recently? Just wondering what they are doing for specials lately. |

Are these in Manhattan? |

Thanks...the menu at Cho Dang Gol is a bit more appealing to me than the other, so that could be the one! |

I would love to take my parents somewhere in koreatown, but am a little nervous that it will be loud, crowded or too much of a scene. Are there any good places that are on the quieter side? |

Are there any steakhouses that do takeout? I would prefer something like Strip House, but work in midtown so could pick up on the way home. Thanks! |

Where do you go for good octopus? The Octopus at Casa Mono is good- Whole babies rather than slices. Also Gusto's is good. |

As a fisherwoman, I'm definitely a tuna snob. I love Ed's Lobster Bar though...it's casual but always very fresh. |

Becco serves until about midnight, and it's pretty solid italian. |

Southwest / New Mexico Cuisine recommendations Definitely second Los Dos...it is amazing. The mexican pizza appetizer and the cheese crisp with green chilies are fantastic and the margaritas are great as well. They do have sopapillas. |

I'm supposed to go for a work happy hour tonight. How are the dips...they sound good. |

The fish cake is really good. |

Anyone tried Amma recently? Is it still good? We have Amma delivered for lunch at least once a week. While I'm sure the eat-in dinner would be better than delivery lunch, it's just OK. Dawat on 58th is a much better bet. |

If you HAD to pick a Steakhouse in/near the Theater District I like Gallaghers |
|

Wolfgangs in tribeca |

Good beer selection in E. Villlage/LES Also Zum Schneider on Ave. C has a nice selection of German beers. |
|

The Becco trio of pasta option is always great, and is really affordable. |

Smoked fish---Russ & Daughters/Barney Greengrass Yes, the fish is fabulous! There is a great selection, and I think they're priced a little better than Barney Greengrass. The pastrami lox is fantastic, and their chopped liver is some of the best I've ever had. It is hectic on regular sunday mornings though, so I can't imagine how it would be around the holidays. |

Thanks for your suggestions, but Dolphin (Dorado) do not have to come from the Pacific, and are frequently caught in Florida and other Gulf states. |

Just got back from a fishing trip and am looking for places in the city that have fresh Tuna/Wahoo/Mahi Mahi. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Lookin' for a good high end Chinese restaurant in NYC I am a huge fan of Shanghai cuisine (partial to Goody's), and much prefer the Chinatown experience to that of high-end places. That said, my trip to "Our Place" about two weeks ago was no exception. The decor is nothing special, and although it might appear a bit cleaner than some of the Chinatown establishments (i.e. the dumplings don't arrive via dumbwaiter from somewhere below canal street), I'd rather have a little grime and better food. All of the dishes were ok, but none of them were great, or even interesting. I also don't like it when the waiters parce out each of the dishes onto everyones’ plate, and The soup dumplings were much more doughy and than their downtown counterparts, and the soup inside was not as flavorful. Perhaps if I hadn't been exposed to the chinatown version I would have enjoyed them. In fact, perhaps if I hadn't been exposed to chinatown in general, I would have enjoyed "Our Place". |

Group dining near Battery Park? About 3 blocks south of Liberty View, there's a little Italian place- Gigino's of Wagner Park. Good pasta and a view of the statue of liberty. I believe that Liberty View's most redeeming quaility is its location, not its fare. |

I would suggest their pastas. I have had a few...most recently one with sausage and one in a white clam sauce. I agree that the ceasar salad is very good as well. They also have a lot of specials. Souffles are a good choice for dessert. |

Valencia Bakery in Spanish Harlem I had birthday cake from here on Sunday night and thought it was amazing. Does anyone know if anything similar exists anywhere closer to downtown? |

Lombardi's Delivery to Financial District/BPC I live south of battery park city and Lombardi's does deliver. It takes forever and arrives a bit chilly, but it's still better than most of the delivery places down there. |
