No way I could choose just one. Candidates would be Tapawingo (Ellsworth, MI), Cafe Beaux Arts (Paris), various barbeque joints across TN and the Carolinas, or just about anything my Grandma ever cooked for 30+ mouths.
My current drink of choice:
(s) red wine, Sprecher's root beer & cream soda (Costco), Granny's Whisky Sours (one can frozen lemonade, then one can water and one can Seagram's 7. Ice. Shake. Pour).
I really wish I could:
Eat as often as I think about food. Afford to buy a really good competition smoker to make Memphis-style baby backs.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Jambalaya and/or my Old Fashioned Cream Pie.
My favorite comfort food:
Too many to name.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Maid Rite--Greenville, OH (and NO wannabes of the same or similar name), Wilber's BBQ--Goldsboro, NC, Tapawingo--Ellsworth, MI; Bagel 'n Deli Shop--Oxford, OH, anyplace that serves food my kids will eat.
My most tattered cookbooks:
Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen, The Pie and Pastry Bible by Rose somebody, Bert Greene's Grains Cookbook
