LATE NIGHT FILIPINO FOOD

I think they first opened it 6am-9pm, but then opened it 24/7 on the weekends. The last I heard, and confirmed from their recent ad on Asian Journal last week, that they opened it up 24/7 everyday except Sunday. Best bet is to just call the place and confirm.

Filipino Food in Historic Filipinotown?

Manila good-ha is a good turo-turo spot. they have two locations, one on vermont/3rd and the other on 6th & catalina. neri's is good too. they're on 6th and occidental. dj bibingkahan is good. also on vermont/3rd area. all the other turo-turo spots in those areas are mediocre.

Best Halo-Halo in LA?

Here's a handy map of Filipino restaurants (non-turo-turo) in SoCal:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?oe=utf...

BTW...there are more Filipinos in LA than the Bay Area...we're just more spread out.

Any Any Full-Service Filipino Restaurant in SF Valley?

The only sit-down Filipino restaurant in the Valley is Bistro Manila in Arleta (Woodman/Chase). It's more a karaoke bar and they are only open for dinner.

Ethnic Breakfasts

There's a new Filipino restaurant in Historic Filipinotown called Kapistahan. It's pretty good and it's not turo-turo (aka food that's sitting in steam trays under heat lamps). The Filipino breakfasts are huge...$6.50 each.

Is Filipino food embarassing?

I ran into Kawali Grill on my way back from the Department of Licensing on Rainier in Columbia City. This restaurant is superb. Although I only got an order of Tapsilog (marinated meat, two eggs, and garlic fried rice) and fresh lumpia (egg rolls), I can say I like this restaurant. The Tapsilog was freshly grilled and very tasty while the fresh lumpia was superb. I'm so glad this mom and pop restaurant opened up because I was getting sick of the turo-turo (cafeteria-style) restaurants that line Beacon Hill. My only wish is that it stays open late because there are no Filipino restaurants in the Seattle area that is open past 10pm.

Philipino Food In The Bay Area (Split from L.A.)

Also, in Northern California, I would recommend:

Lingnam
Sinugba
Ongpin (by far the best food for your money)
Tito Rey's
Cafe Colma (inside of Lucky Chances Casino)
Patio Filipino
Tribu Grill
Luneta Bistro

All of these are in the Daly City/S. San Francisco/San Bruno area.

Also, when you're in San Diego, you should check out Ben's Asian Fusion Restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown SD.

Good luck!

Filipino Food in Historic Filipinotown?

Bahay Kubo is the perennial favorite for most poeple. Personally, I like Kabayan Pinoy because it's the most authentic, but it may not be the best choice for the non-Filipino palate. It's a real hole in the wall and can also be a bit on the greasy side so please beware.

On a side note, I went to Fiesta Sa Barrio in Eagle Rock (corner of Eagle Rock & York) yesterday. Better atmosphere and the food is excellent.

What is the best Indian restaurant in LA?

I personally like The Great Ashoka in Little India (Pioneer Blvd. in Artesia). Most of the clientele is Indian, so you know it's the real stuff. Best naan by far!
