1st time in Waterbury. I've searched the Boards and can't afford La Tavola. Some others that I found via Chowhound appear to be closed (Peruvian Corner and Anatolia's). Would love eat-in Peruvian chicken, middle eastern, Italian or Asian. I'll be happy to report back. Thanks!

Is there ANYTHING good near UConn?

We've lived in the area for 5 years and there are fairly slim pickings. These are our favorites (in order). BTW, Rt. 195 (which is also called Storrs Rd.) is the road that UConn is on):

1. Asian Bistro restaurant in the East Brook Mall in Mansfield (they have excellent sushi, sashimi and Benihana-style Hibachi grill; we just took our twin nephews, going into their sophomore year of college, and they loved it).

2. Angellino's Italian Restaurant: the best Italian in the area; huge portions so you may want to split things or wrap leftovers

Their hamburgers and French Onion Soup are consistently excellent.

The UConn Dairy Bar ice cream is the best around. Kathy John's is OK. Love their sweet potato fries but their ice cream is not as good, IMHO, as the Dairy Bar. We also enjoyed Sara's Pockets.

Need Las Vegas Advice

Thanks so very much everyone! Sorry about the late reply. We were traveling from CT and just got to Vegas late last night. We’re staying at THEhotel and, so far, had a good late dinner in The Café: shrimp cocktail with the biggest shrimp I’ve ever been served as a cocktail. I had a lobster salad appetizer, which was delicious and very fresh, with steamed vegetables and roast garlic, with a side of asparagus. I had requested the sesame spinach but, apparently, since the CA E. coli scare, they stopped serving spinach. My husband had twin Croissant sandwiches, one chicken salad and one tuna, which he really enjoyed.

We rented a car this trip and plan to explore beyond the Strip. We’ll probably go to Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon.

It was from a combination of articles about Vegas as well as some coupon offers.
