Heath Ceramics in L.A. has them, if you're still looking ...

Casual dinner in Fullerton/Anaheim vicinity

Yum, these sound great -- thanks, gang!

Any suggestions for a place mid(-ish)way between Riverside and the South Bay to meet some friends I haven't seen in years? Somewhere pretty low-key would be ideal, as long as the ambience isn't too ... er, Zankou-like. (Not that I don't love Zankou food!)

Fruit stands along the 91?

I'm heading from the South Bay to Riverside tomorrow morning for a 5-year-old's birthday party. Anyone know of any good fruit stands along the way for strawberries (or whatever)?

Cherry Picking and other you pick Fruit..

thanks for sharing, Dayote! i'm sorry i don't have any to add, but i would like to second your call for others' recommendations: i have 4-year-old twins and would love to take them out to see fruit, you know, GROWING. (having grown up in mostly urban socal, i myself still think that food in its natural setting looks almost miraculous and even, well, unnatural; i'm so much more accustomed to seeing it in grocery-store pyramids. isn't that sad?)

south bay farmers markets today?

thanks, DiveFan. can i ask how you google these sorts of things (if that's what you did)? i'd tried that before coming here, and i've also been looking for a flea market calendar for the area; do you do "los angeles" or "southern california," or do you have some other approach?

when i google farmers markets or flea markets or whatever this way, i often get really unchowhoundy results. (i'm defining chowhoundy as a certain ineffable high-quality thing.)

thanks again!

south bay farmers markets today?

Thanks, torty -- I didn't know about that.

south bay farmers markets today?

Wow, thanks, Burger Boy! This is terrific.

Cheap lunch in Santa Monica?

Today? I'm going to the flea market but don't know where to eat ...

i know it's a longshot, but anyone know of any farmers markets today? i live in redondo but am willing to go fairly far afield -- say about a half-hour.

Breakfast in South Bay?

They're 3. I didn't mention it at first because I suspect people pitch downward when they hear that. The truth is, they'll eat almost anything -- so it's really me who cares -- and they really are good at eating out (we eat lunch out every day, or at least we did till buying our new house in Redondo Beach last week; now we won't be able to afford it -- sob!).

Thanks for the recommendations! Joe's on PCH is that place with the big "Eat at Joe's" sign, is that right?

And Original Pancake House: I was just reading a post from some time ago saying that it's kinda dingy and dirty ... ? True? I'm taking the boys out partly because my husband usually takes care of them in the morning, but tomorrow he has a dentist appt. Anyway, I work at night, so I'm not much of a morning person (at all) and don't want somewhere dingy to the point of depressing!

Thanks again for the replies!

Cheap Dinner on Saturday night in Pasadena

dunno if it quite has the ambience you're going for, but the newly remodeled heidar baba on colorado across from pcc has delicious persian food. it's a little more expensive than it used to be (since the remodel, it's less takeouty), but it's still a great value.

Breakfast in South Bay?

Looking to take my two little boys to breakfast tomorrow. Any thoughts? They're good at eating out; the place doesn't need to be kiddish.

Jar-like dining in OC?

thanks for the recommendations!

Jar-like dining in OC?

For our 11th anniversary, my husband and I would like to leave the twins with their grandparents in Huntington Beach and have a nice dinner Sunday or Monday night. Nothing *too-too* fancy -- something along the lines of Jar in L.A., Region in San Diego, Auriga in Minneapolis. (I'm not sure what you'd call a restaurant like that -- slow food?) Any suggestions?
