Thanks so much everyone - I have a great list for our nights out! We tried Sonora with our friends, and had a phenomenal time - the food, atmosphere, service, drinks were all terrific. Looking forward to making my way through the rest of the list!

Zero Otto Nove/Arthur Ave with kids in Dec?

Hi -

We're headed to the NY Botanical Garden either Thurs, Dec 22nd or Fri, Dec 23rd with the kids and grandparents. We were thinking of possibly heading over to Arthur Ave afterwards for an early(ish) dinner - probably around 5:30/6. We live in Westchester and used to live in Manhattan, but none of us have been out to Arthur Ave in decades. I like what I've read about Zero Otto Nove, but will it be hard to get a table (for 7) there on a Thurs or Fri night? Are there other recommended places that will be hospitable to kids? Does anyplace take a reservation? Cost isn't a big consideration, and the kids are pretty good in restaurants and flexible eaters - we would just like someplace welcoming and tasty. Thanks!

Thanks all! We frequent Moderne Barn, so we are looking to go a little farther afield. Love the ideas - I don't mind spending the money at X2O but I don't feel like that is particularly "fun" - guess I'm looking for something a little more casual. I was looking at Eclisse when I thought it was still a Med/Persian mixture, but now it looks more family style Italian - is that true?

Good question - I know the biscotti is baked by them, but not sure about the other cookies - wherever they are from, they are tasty!

Hi -

We're meeting up with a few friends for dinner in a couple of weeks, and wanted to pick someplace fun, with great food and drinks (cocktails, wine, beer - we like it all). A few ideas have been floated around - bartaco, arrosto, cookery - but I'd love other ideas or thoughts on the ideas we have so far. We are willing to travel anywhere in Westchester - Stamford and environs is fine too. Thanks for the help!

Great ideas, thanks! I had totally forgotten about Fire & Ice - they would get a kick out of that. Quick question on the Paramount - from the website, it looks like you wait in line to order and then take your food to the table yourself? One night I'll be solo with the kids, so I'm thinkng that might be inviting chaos. :-)

Thanks for the help. We used to frequent Regina, so I figured that was a must - Sel de la Terre sounds great, I appreciate the recommendation. Legal is fine in a pinch, as is Maggiano's - very well might end up at either one if it's convenient, though I'd rather avoid them if I can since I can visit them closer to home (NY). FWIW, 3 kids - youngest is 4 - thanks again!

Hi all,

My husband and I lived in Boston years ago, and are bringing the kids (9 and under) for a long weekend in a few weeks. We'll be staying near the Boston Common (Tremont side) and would really appreciate some suggestions for great, casual restaurants that are kid-friendly. Our kids are pretty good about restaurants and eating in general, so they do not need to be "kiddie" - just friendly to the idea of having kids there. I'm sure we'll hit the Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, the Common, Public Garden, and a lot of the typical spots - ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner would be appreciated!

Agreed with La Tulipe - they are my fave and they are terrific - especially the caramel and raspberry ones. (But, FWIW, I believe L'Anjou in Mt. Kisco and Perennial Chef in Bedford Hills usually have them as well.)

Pre-Theater with Kids - Good but not stressful?

I'm trying to figure out a good place for dinner near the theater district for a group of 7 - 3 kids (all under the age of 9) and 4 adults, including 2 visitors to the city. I'd like it to be good and memorable, but not stressful - perhaps someplace loud enough that if the kids aren't totally silent it won't be a big deal? They are used to eating out, and reasonably adventurous eaters, so I don't want "kiddie" food - and I'd prefer to steer away from Carmine's & Tony's. I'm considering Landmarc in the TWC, even though it's not right near the theater. Other ideas would be hugely appreciated. Price is not a huge consideration, and any type of cuisine would work. Thanks so much!

Tarrytown - Best Choice Pre-Theater?

We'll try that or Tarry Tavern next time... we went to Jack & Dyl's and while it was comfortable and the service was friendly, the food in our experience was only okay. Probably worth another try I suppose, but we'll probably just try something else next time. Thanks for the suggestions!
