Charlie Palmer's, Veranda, D 1, Chada and other musings

one thing that should be pointed out concerning service at raku sweets: because each dessert is made from scratch as ordered, it can take a while, especially when the place is packed, which is often.

A "Deal" at Bazaar Meat?

there's also a Spanish wine pairing for a reasonable sum, so the "bites" can't be too small.

Portofino - Superlative Pastas and Osso Buco as well as Chicken Parm worth "Strip Pricing"

just goes to show that folks will have different opinions. I'm trying Portofino next month on your recommendation. will report back.

Anniversary dinner in Lower Westchester

X2O in yonkers

fantasy cuisine hartsdale

foodiemom, which Szechuan dishes did you like?

Twist or L'Atelier (or possibly E by Jose Andres)?

not a fan of l'atelier. bad service, extremely small portions, and astounding prices. went to twist for the first time last summer -- loved it. expensive, but not ridiculous, and the quality of the food, drinks and service was worth it.

Bistro @ The Venetian

wow, I'm surprised by this response. I ate lunch at DB last trip, and brunch at bouchon. both were excellent. service was good at both.

Update on Italian Restaurants in Westchester

da Giorgio's is very good, but only go at an "off hour" -- when busy, the place is so loud it ruins the meal

Joel Robuchon reservation at 9:15p

I asked the sommelier for 3 glasses of wine matched with the first 3 courses. he did a fine job, and the cost was reasonable.

Joel Robuchon reservation at 9:15p

i went in august for the first time. service was so slow it ruined the meal for me and my wife. a full 45 minutes between courses (we had the 4 course tasting).

Joel Robuchon

i hope you're not in a hurry. had terrible meal at robuchon - food was excellent, but 3 hours for 4 courses??? insane, and ruined the meal.

Updated review needed : A better overall experience right now, Joel Robuchon or Guy Savoy?

went to robuchon last month. meal was effectively ruined by ridiculously slow service. four courses should not take 3 hours.

Dinner for foodie w/ non-foodie friends

uhockey, since I have great regard for your opinion, pls tell me why you say skip Julian Serrano. I am a huge fan of jaleo, but was considering Serrano as a lunch alternative.

Fountains Brunch at Jasmine - plenty of photos, and my thoughts.

enjoyed reading your review (and that goes for all of your reviews). perhaps you can get to mozen bistro one sunday morning in june or july, and let us have your thoughts. I will be in LV in august, and have always wanted to have brunch at mozen.

Twist or Le Cirque???

the food and service are excellent, and its hard to beat dining out on the terrace, watching the fountains. and they make an excellent manhattan.

Twist or Le Cirque???

must respectfully disagree with ellnost and uhockey (and I am a big fan of both of them) this time: last summer I ate at Picasso and le cirque. both were great, and I would be happy to go to both every year just to see which one is better. if I had to pick one, I would toss a coin.

kabuto vs raku

agree with larry. went to both in august, both were great (our third time at raku, first at kabuto). in most big cities, there is at least one sushi restaurant as good as kabuto (and sometimes several). very few places like raku.

why not go to kabuto at 6pm, then see a show, then go for late nite bite to raku -- its open late.

How is Delmonico's in Las Vegas

went to delmonicos in august, mostly to try a whiskey flight. the whiskey was excellent. the food was meh -- not bad by any means, but not worth going back. i can sit in the bar next time and enjoy the whiskey flight, before heading over to carnevino or SW. also, didn't like the kid who claimed to be the sommelier -- nice enough, but clearly overmatched by a huge winelist.

Lower Westchester--Sesame Noodle Quest

the imperial wok cold noodles are good indeed. not the best, but for westchester, just fine.

Dinner in LV next Saturday

ellenost, i know you are a big fan of le cirque, which i've never tried, but will finally try in august. i'm looking to have dinner at one other top tier restaurant. where would you go?

Looking for Fine-Dining Recs.

josephini, i was considering going to delmonico's in LV on my next trip -- partly for the scotch/bourbon collection, partially for the bone in ribeye -- what didn't you like about the place?

Sage?

that's interesting ellenost -- when i last went there, in 2012, they tried to sit my party of 5 in the bar for dinner even tho the main dining room was empty.
