SARASOTA FL. Jimmys Sand Trap
It was awful. Phony marketing in newspaper. Awful meat called pastrami on wonder rye bread.
Near Orlando Airport Eats
Driving to Orlando to catch a flight. We will have a few hours before the flight and would like to find a good place to eat in close proximity to the Orlando Int'l Airport. Thanks for any advice.
Nellie's Deli -- Sarasota (Terrible)
Pastrami shop off Clark not great but much, much better than Nellie's. In fact no comparison.
Very Good Vietnamese Food in SRQ
We enjoyed a very good meal at Amy's Pho on 301 in SRQ. The beef broth based Pho was excellent and much better that Pho Cali and the other Vietnamese restaurants in town. It had depth of deep beef flavor and contained strips of beef and meat balls. The accompanying plate of bean sprouts,vietnamese basil, jalepeno peppers and stalks of cilantro were fresh and a great addition to the rice noodled stock.We also had a Banh Mi sandwich made on a fresh roll baked at the restaurant. The traditional filing was also fresh and tasty.We began with springs rolls which contained slices of shrimp and a delicious dipping sauce.
The place was clean and the young owners were friendly and welcoming. It is a family operation.
The male owner told us how he learned to make Pho from his father-in-law, an accomplished Vietnamese chef.
The meal was very good. And it was fun to support a hard working family who prepare authentic food and are trying to make it during difficult economic times. We will definitely go back with some friends.

Thank you for this comprehensive run down. Any suggestions for great,homestyle cajun cooking around Lafayette? I understand the crawfish aren't in season now and the shrimp catch has been dismal.MOST IMPORTANTLY, are we making a mistake to base in Lafayette in order to visit the best towns and food?
C'Hound Eating trip thru Louisiana Bayou Country via Fl. & Ms.
Were planning an "eating" trip from Sarasota to Apalachicola,Fl. Then on to NOLA followed by a fews days roaming thru Bayou country seeking good food and Zydeco music. Don't know which way to go from NOLA.Want to base the trip on the best spots for real food from the area.Do we take La. 90 hitting good food and towns between NOLA and Lafayette? Should Lafayette be our base to cover great "real eating" joints? Also, should we consider any stops for super food betweeen Fl and La.? ie Mobile,Biloxi,Gulfport.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Annapolis good eats !
In a few weeks we will be spending two days in Annapolis. Seeking good, non touristy seafood places and other down to earth good eats. Have heard of the Annapolis Seafood Market, Cantler's and Galway Bay. Also downtown deli,Chick & Ruth's ??? getting some national play. Is it any good? Also, any place of note a short drive from Annapolis.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Rome.NY Eats !
We're going to be in Rome this weekend and are looking for a good chowhound place to eat on SUNDAY. In checking, all places on my list (Teddy's,Franklyn Hotel) are not open on Sunday. We are looking for a place for lunch. The Savoy opens later in the afternoon.
Any ideas! I also can't find anything decent between Rome and the eastern suburbs of Syracuse.

Making our annual trek North in a few days and want to get an update on best places to stop for local,fresh seafood and great BBQ. Thinking of Skipper's Fish Camp and/or BJ's Steak & Seafood in Darien,Ga., For BBQ,t Roger's in Florence. Going first part of the week which eliminates some good ones only open Thurs. on.Also heard of Brown's BBQ in Kingstree,SC or Summerton Diner in Summerton,SC for meat + 3. Need more suggestions for NC and VA. Most appreciative for your feedback.

Finally planning a trip to Apalachicola and Cedar Key. Have read previous posts and want to see what the current food situation is in both areas. We will include a vist to the Indain Pass Raw Bar for sure. Want the best oysters and other seafood enjoyed by the natives. ie. Papa Joe's vs. Boss. Sarasota to Panama City Trip
Thanks for your recent imput. We didn't make the trip last year due to the cold weather. We're planning on going to Cedar Key and THEN Apalachicola in the near future. In fact, we have heard of a great oyster place west of Apalachicola that will be our main target.

Thanks for the imput so far ! I did some checking and found those two Little Italy restuarants overpriced tourist food. I will not go to that area
Cinghiale and Sotto Sopra have been suggested as had Pazza Luna.
As far as type of food we want,we are open to any suggestions of good solid food without the bells and whistles. I have also heard of a little place called Mama's On the Half Shell. Any feedback?

3 Nights in Baltimore
We will be spending three nights in the Inner Harbor as I will be attending meetings there. Heard that there is a decent "Little Italy". A friend of my wife (foodie?) suggested Chiparelli's or Sabatino's. We ARE real foodies and enjoy unique good food. What would you recommend? Are there other non chain or touristy Baltimore eating institutions we should consider? We have done the great Crab houses but I think my wife's cousin, who is joining us, doesn't eat crab (allergic!) or loves Italian.Thank you for your help.

We have always driven I-95 but in a few weeks we are heading North stopping to visit relatives in Asheville and then on the Central NY. I am told to take I-75 all the way to Asheville. New territory for us. We're real BBQ foodies and love unique,regional home cooking. Need some great advice on where to stop along the way.Route: I-75 Sarasota to Ashevlle then I-81 to NYS. Excellent review. I have found the SRQ Whole Foods to be subpar to any others I have visited and nowhere as good as the Wegman's chain in the Northeast.Best place for fish down here is Star Market in Cortez.
We find many restaurants in this area overrated with fair food at high prices.
There are some fun ethnic places.
