Gregoria's Kitchen in Durham

Ate tonight at Gregoria's Kitchen, a new Cuban restaurant in Durham. Had an extremely positive experience and I can recommend this place without a second thought. We started with a great salad with nice greens and a generous portion of avocado with a light lime dressing, plenty for an amicable split with my wife. I had the Skirt Steak with chimichurri and onions. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and was suprisingly tender with great flavor. My wife had the Pollo Asado while friends had the Lechon Asado. Everybody was very delighted with their dishes. We also had their Black Beans and Rice which were also quite tasty. The chef is a Miami native with Cuban parents and her Mother's name graces the restaurant. The Chef and Owner both stopped by our table and were very warm and appreciative of our support for their venture. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and excellent presentation. As a South Florida transplant who loves Cuban food......I need for this place to succeed....so please get out and try it!

What's the name of the White House BBQ with 70's/80's New York Yankees photos in the Raleigh-Durham area?

The restaurant you remember is Bullock's BBQ. The photos were from Yankee games played at UNC when Jenny Steinbrenner, George's daughter, was a student there.

Graeter's Ice Cream now available at Kroger stores in Raleigh

Just returned from my yearly trip to Cincinnati for Thanksgiving and returned with my usual 12 pints of Graeter's Ice Cream. Was perusing their web site and I saw that they had expanded their distribution to Kroger stores nationwide. Checked locally and they are indeed in stock! Raspberry Chip, Coconut Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip, Mocha Chip and others. Now I'm being self serving in getting this info out as I want to be sure they stay in stock...so be sure to go out and get some...it really is one of the best Super Premium ice creams in the country and their dark chocolate chip flavors are amazing (how they get the chocolate to not freeze in the ice cream is beyond me). You can find out more about Graters and their french pot manufacturing process at their website..... http://graeters.com/ . Now go and get some!

Durham, NC - Seeking decent pizza

Try Bocci at Sutton Station on Fayetteville a 1/2 mile north of I40, I really like their Nonna's pizza and their Brick Oven (with prosciutto an basil). Definitely a cut above the standard stuff.

Best Burger in Raleigh?

In Raleigh, besides those already mentioned, there is Capitol City Chop House and Hi 5 (great $5 burger and for $2 more you can get Kobe). Durham burgers that are pretty good include Ted's Montana Grill (bison available), Federal, Dain's Place and City Beverage.

Mami Nora's Rotisserie Chicken, Durham, NC

Have to agree with the posters above....I've been about 5 times in the last month abd it has become one of my favorites....great chicken and I love their rice, black beans and plantains. I do worry about them making it as it has not been crowded when I come for lunch. If this place was in the park, there would be a line out the door. Check it out....soon!

Best Burgers in the Triangle?

Forgot to mention Hi 5 (Glenwood South area) where they cook to your temperature and have a number of great burgers for only $5.....$7 if you want to upgrade to Kobe beef. Probably best burger deal in town.

Best Burgers in the Triangle?

For me, you have to have a medium rare to medium burger so that means they have to grind their own meat....I like Porter's, Federal, Capital City Chop House, Parizade (they have a sourdough gruyere cheeseburger with caramelized onions at lunch). Haven't been to 501 Diner in ages but they used to have a good one. Used to like Sawmill Taproom but last time there it was only medium well and above. Haven't yet been to Dain's Place but that is next on the list.

AN asian restaurant in Cary, NC

I have been a number of times and I have been continually impressed with the quality of the food and service. I've had the Walnut Prawns and the Miso Sea Bass and both have been excellent...so much so, I haven't tried much else on the menu but haven't heard anything but compliments from my dinner companions.....a nice thing to do is have some pre-dinner drinks at the Umstead Hotel across the street and head over for dinner.

Triangle Steak Houses

Bin 54 in Chapel Hill has my vote as the best steakhouse in the Triangle. Very pricey but the steak (i had the filet) was as good, if not better than any I've ever had including Peter Lugar's, Del Frisco's Double Eagle and Chicago Chop House among others.

I have ordered a case of cans from the Kroger near 54 and Fayetteville in Durham a number of times. It comes out pretty authentic.....the hard part is getting the right cheese consistency.

Lunch Spots in Raleigh & @ Southpoint... NOFO?

When you are at Southpoint, head north back over I40 for about 3/4 mile and Bocci is on the left hand side.....great Italian... you can't go wrong with their pizzas or paninis at lunch and plenty of great entrees. That's pretty much it for non-chain restaurants.
