For Friday lent, crab cakes in DTW? Thx. Yep VTB. Boagman sure knows his seafood. I just wish he knew his sliders. |

For Friday lent, crab cakes in DTW? We all know Scotty Simpson's has the best fish & chips in Detroit. Thank you, boagman. Who has the best crab cakes? |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? BTW. Barkis is not my real name. |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? I think my 18 year old son was making orgasm sounds when he ate his dogs |

Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] My good friend Summerfield was aghast at seeing the grillmaster at Miller's pressing the patties on the grill, expunging the juices to the flames. But the burger tasted good, nevertheless. ----- |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? I've never been tempted to taste beyond their wonderful bear claws. But those cookies are on my list now. |

Stopped by to see an old friend - Mexican Village - Detroit Among the Detroit area's greatest assets are the numerous ethnic neighborhoods with wonderful chow. Mexican, Lebanese, Indian, Iraqi, Polish, Yemeni, Irish, Jewish, Greek--did I forget anyone?. We have a district for each, all with restaurants run by immigrants @coney with everything: Having just experienced Tony Packo's in Toledo, I wish we had a Hungarian neighborhood too. |

Best Cornedbeef/Rueben in Detroit Metro- Star Deli--12 mile just west .of Telegraph. Parking is a b*tch. But if you can find a spot, it is worth it. And it''s 2/3 the price of that other place in Ann Arbor. I don't know if they have a grill to serve Reubens, however. Their cold sandwiches keep the lights on. |

Best Cornedbeef/Rueben in Detroit Metro- Yes indeed. IF money is no object. :) |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? I haven't yet. But it is now on my list. |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? I especially like #10 from veh, but many are worthy of being from Detroit. BTW, on anti-Detroit auto blog TheTruthAboutCars.com I'm known as "Telegraph Road". |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? :) Excellent Jan. I think your goodwill won this food war for now. Just wait til next time! |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? Hungarian, you say. I assume that is why I couldn't get fries with my carry-out order. It was "mashed potatoes and gravy" or else. |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? Indeed, Detroit does do foods right. Burgers at Millers (or even Red Coat). Square pizza at Buddy's. Sliders at Bates (or Greene's if your name is Boagman), and good coney dogs anywhere--and I mean anywhere. But I've never had a Tony Packo quality dog in Michigan. ----- |

Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] The burgers are indeed wonderful. No salt, no additives. Just grilled ground round. But I don't know where Mr. Miller gets his meat, unless it's heaven. |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? In Detroit we've learned that company bankruptcy is just the beginning of rebirth. |
Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] HeHe Jan. I have worked in Dearborn for 27 years. One of the first recollections I had at Ford was a coworker who took to me to Miller's. He said it was the best burger in Michigan. I have no evidence to refute it. |
Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] if only boagman were here to referee. |
Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] :-))) |

Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? Yes I know about the Spanish Onions Vs Sweet Onions difference, But this difference was subtle. Distinctly subtle. |
Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] Funny that the Google map on the sidebar shows Red Coat but not Miller's. |
Miller's Burgers - Really? [Dearborn MI] Miller's has truly wonderful burgers. A bit overpriced. But truly wonderful. You have to get the baked beans to fully understand the Miller's experience--as well as waiting in line for an hour at lunch. |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? The really sad thing is--I counted the Michigan license plates in the parking lot--between 1/4 and 1/3. So sad. |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? Heh. I haven't had a burger at Thurman Cafe, but I can't imagine it trumping the fare at Miller's in Dearborn. Or even Red Coat, for that matter. But that's another thread. Let's stick to dogs. |
Why can't Detroit outdo Tony Packo's in Toledo? Sometimes I think I'm a skirted cheerleader for Detroit. On the auto blogs--and there are so many--I am always defending the home turf from the barbarians at the gate. But I never understood the LaFayette vs American coney dog rivalry. I even watched the Food Wars episode. At last year's auto show I bought one dog at LaFayette and another dog at American. I ate them alternately one bite at at time. No difference. No difference at all. Give up the rivalry, there is no difference at all. Then, after 25 years of seeing billboards cajoling me to taste a Tony Packo dog in Toledo, I succumbed. It was wonderful. Why can't we do this? ----- |

Best Middle Eastern food in Dearborn area? My Lebanese wife's relatives assert that Hamido on Warren has the best chicken in Dearborn. It's less formal and cozier than either La Pita or Al-Ameer, however.. |
Best Middle Eastern food in Dearborn area? La Pita and Al-Ameer are both good choices. For French/Lebanese desserts there is the incomparable Shatila Bakery & Cafe, which is just a few blocks west of Al-Ameer on Warren Ave. The pistachio ice cream is excellent. |

Can anyone recommend a restaurant specializing in Hmong cuisine in Detroit or its suburbs? |

Southfield Michigan - Does Romantic and Good Dining Exist? My wife and I had our first date at Sweet Lorraine's, over 20 years ago. It's a better first date place than "get out the ring and propose" place. |
