Thank you Scott! Little Corona sounds really nice. I am now thinking more about Malibu since it is much closer for us. The website that you linked suggests Leo Carillo for tide pools. Do you think that is a good option? If we go with Malibu do you have any suggestions for fresh fish in the 'Bu?

Thank you for your reply and the super suggestions! To answer your questions:
-my daughter will be turning 15
-the restaurant does not need to be on the beach. I think that she just wants really fresh, delicious fish
- I would prefer no beach amenities; a natural beach without a lot of people. We will be going mid-week in January so I think that most beaches will be quiet. Tide pools would be fun!

My daughter has asked for a day at the beach for her birthday. She would like to spend some time on a beautiful beach and than have some well prepared, not deep fried, fresh fish. We are just back from Tulum and her first choice was to go back to the beach in Tulum but since we can't do that we are hoping to find something fun in Los Angeles or Orange County. Any suggestions?

Ethnic Asian Food in Thousand Oaks
We love Lum Ka Naad!! We eat there often or get take out and have catered a party and a large event with their food. Some of our favorites are the Lompoon Jerky, Krabi Chicken, Prihk King Green Beans and Pad Key Mao.

Hey, thank you for the suggestions! It is not too late; this time I planned ahead and we are not going to be there untill later this month.
I have to admit that I am little wary to eat somewhere called Phood but I will look into both Simple Simon and Brandon's Diner since we will be there alllll day, passing time.
How is the Mexican food at Brandon's for lunch? I can't seem to get enough (good) Mexican food!

I think that I discovered you El Salvadorian restaurant by accident. Is it called Belen? I was there last week and it is was terrific! Excellent pupusa and had the plate of the day. Oh! And the banana bread was out of this world!! It was similar to pound cake. It had carmelized plantains on top. The owner was super nice and helpful!! It will be a regular stop for us.

Just to report back, we ordered from Z Pizza. I liked that they offered organic sauce and they are very close to our house. Unfortunately, it was not the pizza that we were hoping for. Still looking for that thin crust, New York pizza.

Thank you for the Farm Boy suggestion. It is not too late. The party is Saturday and I will be in the Valley on Wednesday; so I will go check it out. That way maybe we can sample both Farm Boy and Nijiya, take a look at what they offer and even compare prices. I let you know with what we come up with.

Thank you both for the great suggestions! I think that we will go with Nijiya. We shop there often and our daughter loves their sushi. I have never odered a sushi platter. Should call it in, go in the day before and set up an order or do they make it up while I wait? Is it usually cheaper then purchasing the small pakages and making your own platter?
