Tub Gin....anyone try it?

Store has it on sale and there aren't many reviews
thanks!

What are your favorite new gins?

Can you drive into DE? Kreston's and Total Wine are where I go often

Anyone try the BarConic glasses from barsupplies.com?

I'm looking for hurricane glasses and they have some that are inexpensive....wondered about the quality (also looking at Libbey ones)

thanks!

tiki drinks.....ingredient substitutions help

Thanks Kathryn, great idea!

What does 1.75 liter bottle of Markers Mark cost in your City/State

normally $52.99, currently on sale for $48.99 (PA)

tiki drinks.....ingredient substitutions help

thanks, but with an almond/nut allergy that would be a bad idea ;) May work for others who just don't have orgeat on hand though

tiki drinks.....ingredient substitutions help

thanks....I think my boyfriend bought some DiSaronno so maybe I'll give it a try (never had it.)

tiki drinks.....ingredient substitutions help

that's the falernum recipe I was thinking of trying :)

I got the Herbsaint but there isn't any Luxardo Sangue Morlacco available near me.

I'm not going to worry too much about the Orgeat and lack of richness since I've never had it and won't know what I'm missing lol.....just want to make up for the sweetness it brings to the drink

tiki drinks.....ingredient substitutions help

I just got two Beachbum Berry Tiki drink books and there are a few ingredients I can't use due to having a nut allergy.....so I'm looking for substitutions

---Falernum....I may have to resort to making my own and just leaving out the almond unless someon has a better solution

--Orgeat syrup.....just use simple syrup instead?

--Cherry heering......this one has me stumped.....any ideas? Would the Rothman & Winter Cherry Orchard work? (waiting to hear back from the company to see if that's nut free)

--Pernod said they were not safe, may try and substitute Herbsaint if its safe.....any other substitutes?

Any suggestions appreciated!
thanks

Anyone know how the WildTurkey 81 Rye compares to the 101?

It appears my store only carries the new 81 proof and I've only seen reviews on the 101. Anyone had both and can compare them for me?

Need recs for spirits for mixing classic cocktails (brandy, cognac, rye, whiskey, bourbon, apricot brandy)

no Landy VSOP here, just the VS......can get the St Remy VSOP or Remy Martin VSOP. Paul Masson available too.
If I head to Delaware I can get Chalfonte VSOP for $25, and Pierre Ferrand Amber for $40

Need recs for spirits for mixing classic cocktails (brandy, cognac, rye, whiskey, bourbon, apricot brandy)

bought it 2 nights ago so haven't tried it yet......perhaps this weekend

Need recs for spirits for mixing classic cocktails (brandy, cognac, rye, whiskey, bourbon, apricot brandy)

already got it :)

Need recs for spirits for mixing classic cocktails (brandy, cognac, rye, whiskey, bourbon, apricot brandy)

thanks for the OO info....I'm good on the gin front but always open to suggestions ;)

Need recs for spirits for mixing classic cocktails (brandy, cognac, rye, whiskey, bourbon, apricot brandy)

We currently have Maker's Mark bourbon (and a mini of Knob Creek).....stick with those or is there something better? Old Weller or Woodford maybe?? Prefer sweet & smooth

For the rye I was thinking of Old Overholt because its cheap and gotten good reviews ;)

No ideas on the brandy , cognac or whiskey (can I just use bourbon when a recipe calls for "whiskey")?

Apricot brandy....I have available Leroux, Hiram Walker and Jacquins OR I could use Rothman Winter Orchard Apricot instead. See another recipe calls for peach brandy.....same brands available

thanks!

Can anyone help me find a store in Delaware/NJ (live in Philly burbs) that carries these spirits (can't get in PA)?

thanks!

Can anyone help me find a store in Delaware/NJ (live in Philly burbs) that carries these spirits (can't get in PA)?

Thanks Ted. I'll certainly keep that in mind if I can't find a DE or PA retailer

Can anyone help me find a store in Delaware/NJ (live in Philly burbs) that carries these spirits (can't get in PA)?

thanks! When I first typed in the Appleton I typed in "Appleton Extra" and it said I had to call it in and order 6.......but when I type in "Appleton 12" it says I can order online....glad you found it :)

You can tell I'm tired and should go to bed....totally missed the G'Vine and Ransom on there lol

New to vermouth and wanting to pick up a dry and a sweet....which of these brands?

I have available to me:

Vya
Noilly Prat
Martini & Rossi

Was thinking maybe the Vya sweet and the Noilly Prat dry? Planning on buying the 375 ml bottles

want to try either Creme Yvette or Creme de Violette.....any opinions on which to get?

well, I picked up the maraschino and the creme de violette and will hopefully taste them this weekend. Decided to wait on the Yvette for the moment because it's pretty pricey ($46)

Can anyone help me find a store in Delaware/NJ (live in Philly burbs) that carries these spirits (can't get in PA)?

--El Dorado 5 yr rum
--El Dorado 12 yr rum
--Appleton Extra 12 yr rum
--Rhum Clement VSOP

--Broker's gin (supposed to be coming to PA but not sure when)
--Ransom Old Tom gin
--G'Vine gin
--No.3 gin

If no one has DE/NJ suggestions, I also travel to MD occasionally

thanks!

Would love to find that recipe...I do prefer my drinks a bit sweeter than what most folk on here seem to like

Need recommendations for a good gold and /or dark rum for mixing

Was tempted to pick up a bottle of the MGXO while on sale because they also had a $3 mail in coupon (just expired) but decided to try and find the ED12 instead because I prefer it a bit sweet

Need recommendations for a good gold and /or dark rum for mixing

I grabbed the last Cuervo Platino I could find in any of my local stores...haven't tried it yet but thought it was a very good price for it

Need recommendations for a good gold and /or dark rum for mixing

ah ok.....yep the Maestro is the one I bought :D
I'm not too far from DE and 99% of the time their pricing is less and they don't charge tax. (Hendricks there, not on sale, is $25.99 and no tax). I only bother driving there though if I'm planning on buying several items, otherwise the cost of gas eats up all the savings lol

Need recommendations for a good gold and /or dark rum for mixing

Where in PA are you finding the closeout deals? My local stores (2 of which are premium stores) almost never have any closeout items. I rarely see the $10 off sales but did manage to grab a bottle of tequila.......the usual sales seem to be $2-4 off (vodka, gin, tequila). Since I'm not a scotch/cognac/bourbon drinker I may just not notice the bigger sales on the pricier items

want to try either Creme Yvette or Creme de Violette.....any opinions on which to get?

thanks for the reply....unfortunately I don't have any friends that drink anything more than beer/wine/vodka so no one to split a bottle with. I have a bit of an obsession with comparing things so I'll probably get the Yvette AND the CdV so I can try both (although its a lot of money to spend on something I may not like).

want to try either Creme Yvette or Creme de Violette.....any opinions on which to get?

just looked it up, no Creme de Mure near here. I did find another violet liqueur : Drillaud Creme de Violette

want to try either Creme Yvette or Creme de Violette.....any opinions on which to get?

Can't see myself making enough drinks that would require me to have both. I know they are similar but have different tastes......which one would you recommend trying?

Also considering ( Luxardo) maraschino but worried about it always being described as "funky" lol. I do lean towards sweeter flavored drinks

What size glass if serving a margarita on the rocks?

If I want to keep it in a standard shaped margarita glass (as opposed to something like a pint glass), how many ounces should it be? Looking at 12, 15.25 and 16.75 oz glasses

Sorry if it seems like a silly question, I just want to make sure the ice fits in the glass :)

thanks!
