[SAT] Lisa's Mexican Restaurant, 815 Bandera Road near Woodlawn
The new location took over the old home of Henry's Puffy Tacos.
Recently tried to visit Lisa's on a Saturday morning at about 11:00 am and they were not serving food. I was a little disappointed since I really wanted to try it.
Only explanation given was that something had happened in the kitchen and they would not be serving food for another hour.
Real farmers market in San Antonio?
The one near Basse and McCullough (Olmos Basin, Jackson-Keller/McCullough (Tuesdays/Saturdays) is my favorite thus far.
It's not big by any means (10 -15 stands), but the vendors are friendly and usually carry good produce for a reasonable cost.
They are open Tuesday's and Saturday's usually in the morning.
The recent rains have really hurt a lot of crops so that may be the reason why the other was a bit empty.
Houston + San Antonio on the cheap for NYC gal
For Vietnamese in S.A. ( San Antonio) on the cheap I recommend
-Pho Ha Long off LOOP 410
- Big Kahuna off Ashby inside the loop near San Pedro Springs park (Inner City)
-Azuca (Not on the cheap, but good) - Downtown
-Cascabel's Mexican Patio on S. St. Mary's near downtown. (Authentic Mexican from Mexico City region)
-Guajillos on Blanco anf 410 (Cheap and good, not fancy)
-Cha-Cha's ( Good food and great margarita's, moderate priced)
La Fogata also has great margarita's

Wholewheat pancakes in San Antonio? ...
Magnolia's so far takes the prize.
They are good.
Asian grocery stores in San Antonio
I'll usually check out this place on Bandera Rd near Callaghan, inside the loop, called Oriental Market.
There's also Niki's Grocery (I think) off Hildebrand and Blanco.
It's behind Niki's Tokyo Inn.
They are tucked away and carry a lot of Japanese things, but also general Asian stuff.
San Antonio Sushi
I swear by by Niki's Tokyo Inn on Hildebrand.
It's run by a mother and daughter team and is one of the first (if not the first) Sushi/Japanese restaurants in S.A.
They are only open for dinner, but the food is of the highest quality.
I'd compare this to any West coast sushi place I've eaten at.
Niki's Tokyo Inn
819 W. Hildebrand
San Antonio 78212
Cuisine: Japanese, Sushi
City Area: North Central
[SAT] Best Burgers?
Try a place called Fatty's on E. Commerce, just up the street from Sunset Station.
Family run place that makes a mean burger on toasted square bread.
One of the best burgers I've had in S.A.
(SAT) Does anyone know where a good Korean Restaurant is?
Go Hyang Jib on Rittiman
Korean B.B.Q. House on Rittiman
Koreana on Harry Wurzbach
Hit up www.SAeats.com and do a search, there's a few there. These three are the ones I hear most about though. There's also Hanaro Mart on Rittiman, I haven't trued that place, but rumor has it they serve food.
Kayla's Cafe on the S.A. Riverwalk
Thanks for the heads up. We'll have to try Kayla's out.
South Padre / Port Isabel Recs
South Padre Brewing Company
will do you good for a day.
Vietnamese in San Antonio?
San Antonio - Tex Mex, local ingredients, and guidance needed from the Hounds
Try some of the off the beaten path places for some Tex-Mex.
Jacala on West.
Cha-Cha's on Babcock or Bandera Rd.
Guajillo's on Blanco (Really more authentic Mexican than Tex-Mex)
There's always Henry's Puffy Tacos on Bandera Rd. too, it's not fancy but it's totally San Antonio.
www.SAeats.com might help you out. It's a hometown restaurant guide.
San Antonio Grocery Stores
There's a small market I frequent off Fredericksburg Rd. by 410 (inside the loop) called Fiesta Market.
It's behind a shopping center that has a Big Lots in it.
Real deal little Mexican market with produce, cheeses, fruits and spices.
There's a big swap meet there on weekend.
It's located in the back of the shopping center, you'll have to drive around it.
Speaking of which there's also Michoacana Market in that same strip.
We also have Sun Harvest stores.
New In San Antonio. Suggestions?
Welcome to town.
In your area I'd say for sure hit up Magnolia Pancake Haus for breakfast.
There's usually a wait of about 20-40 minutes on weekends, but it's well worth it.
They are near Bitters and West.
Also good Mexican/Tex-Mex I've can recommend in that area is Ruthie's on West near Blanco Rd.
We had the same trouble finding good places to eat when we first moved to S.A.
Try out this site www.SAeats.com
Hope it helps.
Seeking for Authentic Thai in San Antonio
On the NW side, I second Thai Pikul on Fredericksburg Rd.
Also try a tucked away placed called Thai Restaurant on Babcock and Callaghan.

Similar to Jamba Juice.
Near Alamodome or btwn Austin & San Antonio?

In St. Paul Square
Aldaco's Mexican in Sunset Station
Alibi's Bar and Grill on Commerce in the square
There's a great burger place up the road on commerce past Hackberry called Fatty's.
Great family run burger place.
Depending who you talk to some may say to drive there, but I've walked before.
Right on the other side of the highway there's RiverCenter Mall too, which has some options.
You can take a trolley from Sunset Station into downtown and hit up any of the places there. For game food, that's not too badly priced. I'd say Schilo's Deli on Commerce.
Lots of dogs, brawts, brew at a reasonable price.
Check out some of the stuff in the area www.SAeats.com
Hope some of these help.
[SAT] Pizza Delivery in Medical Center
I've tried that place too (Main Street on Crossroads)
It is def. a good place.
I've been trying to find some fat hand pressed corn tortillas in San Antonio lately.
Can't say I've searched high and low, but I have been keeping my ears open.
I used to get some at the neighborhood Tortilleria back home in California, but have never found an equivalent here just yet.
If anyone knows... Please pass it on.
San Antonio -- but not Tex-Mex?
Le Frite Belgian Bistro
Green Vegetarian - This place is quickly becoming a favorite.
Niki's Tokyo Inn on Hildebrand
Biga on the Banks
[SAT] Pizza Delivery in Medical Center
Best places I've tried in the Medical Center area have been
1. Sapore's Pizza on Babcock and Hillcrest.
This is my pick hands down.
They're are just outside of the Med.Cen area inside the loop, but worth the trip. They do deliver but not sure to what extent.
2. I have heard good things about House of Pizza on Babcock as well.
3. Pauls Pizza Roma does deliver.
They pizza is not bad at all for the price. I've found it a little greasy at times, but it is leaps and bounds better than your major chain options.
4. Lorenzo's on Fredericksburg Rd.
These guys make a good pizza. A bit higher priced that other places if I remember correctly but the pie was really good. Not sure on delivery either though.
You can always browse this site too for a few more options. www.SAeats.com
Can anyone tell me where I can find a kaiten sushi place in the San Antonio area?
I have not been able to find a kaiten sushi place in S.A. yet, but I would highly recommend a place called Niki's Tokyo Inn on Hildebrand near I-10.
Japanese owned, friendly people and straight up authentic rolls.
Toro Sushi on the menu and the only non-traditional roll on the menu is the California roll.
Secondly I would recommend Godai Sushi on West Ave.
If you do have any luck finding the float boat place, let me know please.
You can also peek around here www.SAEATS.com
restaurant near AT&T Ctr. San Antonio
It's not right next door, but maybe Ruths Chris on Commerce, just East of downtown.
Pho in San Antonio?
I recommend trying Pho Ha Long at Ingram and 410 and also Saigon Express on McCullough.
Both are authentic, great tasting and give you the best bang for your buck.
English and European Tex-Mex Virgins Hoping to Go Wild in San Antonio!!!
One thing you'll find a lot of in San Antonio and Texas period is good food.
Here are a few recommendations I can suggest.
Mexican Manhattan (cheap Breakfast/Lunch)
Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery or Margarita's (Both are in Market Square aka El Mercado)
Casa Rio - near the convention center.
*Cascabels Mexican Patio - Great Authentic Mexico style menu.
Off the River in town.
La Fogata on Vance Jackson between 410 and I-10
Jacala on West near Hildebrand.
Guajillo off 410 near Blanco
Cha-Cha's on Babcock or Bandera.
As far as BBQ, I've never really tried any downtown, but here are a few places that come to mind.
Harmon's Barbeque in Alamo Plaza
County Line on the Riverwalk
and King Willie's on S. Alamo
If you'll willing to drive about 45 minutes up I-35 to Buda (near Austin) hit up the Salt Lick. One price, many options, all you can eat, great atmosphere and flavor.
You can hit up this site too and look around www.SAEATS.COM
Hope your trip goes well.
Dinner Suggestions for San Antonio within walking distance of Crown Plaza Riverwalk
The first restaurant that comes to mind near there is Zuni Grill.
They have a fairly eclectic menu. Personal favorite of mine was the black and white soup.
Any good greasy spoons near Riverwalk?
Blanco Cafe is good for the price.
I've had one bad experience there which kept me from going back though.
I can say that the food was well worth the price, but I did encounter some slow service and a dead insect in my food.
It's always packed, so I'm guessing my plate was an isolated case. Hopefully.
Local/Slow Food in San Antonio?
I've never heard of one locally (that promotes itself at least).
I'd like to also know this though, if I hear of one, I'll pass it on.
Tampopo Japanese Cafe (DFW)
That movie rocks.
One of my favorite flicks.
Any good greasy spoons near Riverwalk?
There are lots of tucked away Mexican and Tex-Mex places to check out. Many of them close after lunch, but will give you a great deal on breakfast and lunch. You're best bet is really to stroll down Commerce going into downtown.
A couple that come to mind are Lula's and Mexican Manhattan.
If I think of any more places I'll drop em.
