Guerneville, CA
Hi All -
Spending a few days up in Guerneville, CA (near Healdsburg and north of Occidental) over Labor Day with my in-laws and was looking for two recommendations.
First, any dinner spots worth hitting. Mid-range to fancy, good cuisine and atmosphere. I know about most of the ones over in Napa but I am trying to avoid the 45 minute drive on windy roads at night. And, I don't know the Guerneville surrounding area as well. Willing to drive north, south, east or west - just would love places within 30 minutes or so.
Second, looking for some cool casual lunch spots to grab sandwiches on the run or to have something a bit more substantial. We obviously love Oakville grocery in Healdsburg and will make sure to hit that - but looking for some other recommendation in some of the surrounding towns. Thanks much!
Can't miss places in Portland, Oregon
My wife and I are heading up to Portland from San Francisco next weekend. We will be in Portland for 3 nights and I am looking for any suggestions. Mainly, would love to hit any places that are distinctively Portland, standouts not to be missed. We generally are up for any type of cuisine. Would like a mix of perhaps one fancy spot and the rest can be mid to casual. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks! (oh, and all meal-types - dinner, brunch, great lunch spots as well)

Hime's menu
Just got back from a meal at Hime. We went because of a pretty good word of mouth around town including a write-up in Daily Candy that my wife spotted.
Well, I can only say, what a big dissapointment! For a city that tries very hard to succeed when it comes to Sushi, and occasionally hits the mark, this was a big bust. Before we even got to the food, the service was just horrible. By far the worst we have faced since moving to SF from NYC some 6 months ago. No water, drinks or hello in the first 20 minutes we were there. And another 15 minutes to just get a simple beer. The lack of service and attention just continued throughout the meal and we left feeling totally ignored and underservered.
Aside from the generally poor service, the food boarded on average. Appitizers were good looking, but delivered minimal taste, including the Edemame tofu spread and Kobe beef lettece wraps. Both looked kind of good, we ate them, but really nothing spectacular. The sushi we had for our main course boarded on fair. My wife's special tuna roll for $16 had some horrible looking tuna slices on top of it that were unedible. The rest boarded on average including tuna, shrimp and eel. For $114 it felt like a rip and we left totally disgusted. The manager at the front didn't seem to have anything to say to our displeasure.
Another SF sushi joint with a dissapointing grade. Please skip.
