Restaurant Wedding?

these are all great suggestions. we're trying to stick to a resonable budget, and yes, something that has standup/sitdown potential. type of food is not super important, but not charging additional coin for reserving a private room or large function would be. i'll look into some of these too.
unless we end up at city hall, you won't be cut alau :)

Restaurant Wedding?

Hi there...
We're entertaining having a restaurant wedding in Edmonton (guest list 60-75 people). Looking for something with nice, modern decor and cozy. I've heard Murrieta's on Whyte has potential, but taking any and all suggestions. We thought about Culina, but it's too small :(

Creme Fraiche

does anyone know where to buy this in Edmonton? i've tried (with no success) conventional supermarkets, the Italian Centre and KK Foodliner.

Jasper

arguably the best pizza in jasper (and the most questionable service) is jasper pizza on connaught drive. stay away from evil dave's ... looks very cool on the outside, but i found the food mediocre. best sandwiches or quick lunch in jasper - there's a place that's attached to a kitchen/garden/jewellery store that i never remember the name of, but truly great quick bites.

Bulk food in Calgary

the bulk barn is brilliant. every time i go to visit my mom i stock up on spices.
i wonder if they're open to franchising in the west???

Jerusalem Artichokes/Sunchokes

ok - about the same time alau was finding them in calgary, i was finding jerusalem artichokes at the old strathcona farmer's market in edmonton! open saturdays from 8 - 3 (think).the vendor was a nice older lady with a small booth near the front windows kitty corner to the guy who sells frozen meat.

Best breakfast joints in Western Canada

if you come through edmonton, you have a few possibilities.
culina cafe (www.culinacafe.ca) has great breakfast on weekdays and saturday. don't be scared by their non-traditional sounding menu- you'll walk out satisfied. their saturday brunch menu is online and the weekday one is similar.
new york bagel cafe is also great... good luck.

Christmas Dinner in Edmonton

hmmm- i was thinking semi-traditional fare, but i've been told many places will already be booked up, so at this point i'd take all suggestions. chinese could be very interesting!

Christmas Dinner in Edmonton

hi again ... still on the lookout for the elusive jerusalem artichoke.

on another topic, my boyfriend and i are staying in edmonton for christmas and not heading back east. any idea of which restaurants do a christmas dinner? we're looking for something nice to celebrate our first christmas - but cooking a turkey for two just doesn't seem like fun!
thanks!

Jerusalem Artichokes/Sunchokes

does anyone know where i can buy jerusalem artichokes/sunchokes in edmonton? please?
