West Chester/Brandywine suggestions

This reply may be getting you too late smdeneau, but the High Street Cafe is my favorite restaurant around. I have only been to Gilmore's once and was a little disappointed based on its reputation. Besides, it is extremely doubtful that you will be able to get in there on such notice. I have also been to Avalon once. It was good but it was not that memorable to me. I have been to High Street five to six times and have always had an outstanding meal. Also, they have always had different specials every time I have been there and I have never ordered the same entree twice. If you go, try their blackened alligator appetizer or if you can stomach very spicey, their vodoo crawfish appetizer. I have usually been there with a minimum of six people and have tried at least a bite of most things on the menu. Whatever you order, you can't go wrong!!! I hope you make it there.

Tortola recommendations?

Thanks Island Girl! I checked out bviwelcome.com but I only found information on three restaurants in Tortola. However, I found bvitourism.com which had a large list of restaurants with descriptions. I was hoping to get 1-3 can't miss restaurants for anywhere on Tortola; someplaces worth planning a trip around, if there are any. The site I found mentions a Wednesday night fish fry att Quito's and a Thursday lobster special at Rhymer's. Any comment on these? I know both places are in Cane Garden Bay. Thanks again.

Dinner near TLA on South Street

I am looking for a place near the TLA on South Street to take some friends for dinner before a show. There will be 6 people in total and we will only have an hour and a half. Only criteria is that we are looking for somewhere with sit down waitress service that serves alcohol. Can anyone help me? I was thinking of Copabanana, but thought I would ask around because I don't know the area that well. Thanks in advance for any help.

Best Bagels

Thanks for the tip pamd! I finally made it to bagelicious. Turns out it is only four miles from my house. The bagels are much better than the Bagel Factory or Manhatten Bagel. They are on par with Country Bagel which makes me very happy! Thanks again!

Best Bagels

Where is Bagelicious? I used to live in West Chester and got my bagels at Country Bagel (see reply above). However, I now live a few minutes from KoP and have been trying to find a good bagelry nearby. All that I know nearby is the Bagel Factory and Manhatten Bagel. I would not recommend either place to anyone.

Best Bagels

Have you had Country Bagel in West Chester? They are by far the best bagels I have had outside of NY. There are four locations. The best one to go to (where they make the bagels) is in a shopping center (I believe it is called the Parkway Shopping Center but not sure) where High Street and 202 meet. There is a McDonald's at the front of the shopping center and the bagel shop is towards the far section of the center as you enter.

Andy's Bistro in Cumberland, RI

Has anyone else been to this gem? I was there on the Friday night after Thanksgiving with my Fiance and her family celebrating her Mother's birthday. As we pulled into the little strip mall on Mendon Road and I saw the enormous Powerhouse gym next door, any expectations I had were deflated. Little did I realize that such a wonderful restaurant could exist in such a place. However, the restauraunt truly provided one of the more memborable meals I have had. Great service, Great food and unbelievably reasonable prices! My filet was top quality and cooked to perfection, but the Lobster Ravioli was to die for. Honestly, BY FAR the best Lobster Ravioli I have ever tried. I don't think it could be made any better. I am writing this review for two reasons: 1) I feel compelled as a thank you for the meal I was fed (I beleive it is a brand new restaurant)and 2) I want to know if I am blowing this out of proportion. Is the food really that good or were my low expectations the reason I thought it was so splendid?

Tortola recommendations?

I am thrilled to have discovered this thread as I am going to Tortola for the first time in June for my honeymoon. I have found it hard to find consumer reviews regarding the restaurants there. Does anyone know of any good restaurants near Cane Garden Bay? Thanks in advance for any information.

Cheesesteak near Independence Hall

I concur with the previous replies but really recommend Jim's on the corner of South and 4th Streets. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from Independence Hall, but not only are the cheesesteaks some of the best in Philly, you will walk through Society Hill and some of the most historic and scenic parts of the city in order to get there. If you are extremely pressed for time, the short cab ride is probably worth it.
