Hi all, NY chowhound here. So my wife and I will be in town for a few nights with 1 night to ourselves. We are staying in the Dupont Circle area and want to go out for a great dinner. We want the best place for our 1 night, price does not matter. That said if you are familiar with them our style generally leans toward Blue hill over Daniel, Kuma inn or Momofuku over Mandarin Oriental. We are mid 30s not at all stuffy or too cool for school just want a great meal in your city. We eat all types of quisine...southern,sushi,classic steakhouse...etc we are open to anything. I guess we prefer to be in the Dupont Circle area but if it is an easy train or cab(we have no car) we are open to other areas as well. Thanks all

rehearsal dinner for 18

We are looking for a space for for our rehearsal dinner in august. This will be a friday night so we would probably prefer a private room as our budget will likely not permit a buyout. We are open to any style of cuisine The rehearsal is in murray hill so we would probably prefer east side. Lastly we are trying to keep the cost to under $2000 all inclusive though we have a little wiggle room for the right place. thanks so much for your suggestions

Tomoe Sushi-The real deal?

I have always been a fan of tomoe, I am not sure where you are eating to call their fish less than fresh but I would love to check it out. as a moderately priced sushi joint (yes $30 for enough fresh sushi that you leave full is moderate here) Tomoe is a solid choice. That said kobetobiko I would love to hear more about your resonably priced spot Ushiwamaru as of now I have never even heard of it. where is it located?

any suggestions for upper west side sushi?

ended up at tenzan. worked out great the fish was fresh and solid/efficient service. Thanks to all who replied. my2 cents, sashimi was fresh, usual suspects were available dont go here if you are looking for exotic fish. good rolls (did not like the spicy sauce they used tho) price was spot on for what it was. overall a good neighborhood pick
