picking porcini

I'm in the Colorado Rockies right now and understand that there were a lot of porcinis growing up in the surrounding mountains at the end of last August. Before I commit to driving and hiking up to 10,000 feet, does anyone have any information on when the porcini usually grow? Would I be too early? There has been a good amount of rain here.

Need recs for dinner near Grand Opera House in Wilmington

I also recommend Domaine Hudson. I used to eat at Deep Blue frequently (expense account) and liked it but haven't since around the time the chef left a few years to open his own place (Chef's Table in Old New Castle). I hear that Deep Blue has gone downhill.

Take out Mexican in DE?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, DelChow! I can't wait to try Los Potrillos.

Is El Pique the taco shop next to the liquor on the left off Rte 100 on the way from Elsmere to 5-points?

Does anyone have any more places to recommend (take-out or sit down) near Claymont/North Wilmington or in the "City" of Wilmington?

recs for a grown-up night out in philly

many thanks! I just reviewed some of the many posts about Monk's, and it sounds like a great place for lunch!

In response to the questions, 1. the spouse drinks anything but wine (and I am willing to bring beer or booze to a BYOB), and 2. it's a saturday afternoon/night.

does that make a difference to anyone?

is Amada opening a sister rest.? I saw something on the open table website when I made reservations.

recs for a grown-up night out in philly

With many thanks to the grandparents, the spouse and I will be enjoying a day and night out on the town in Feb. What a nice change from the 'burbs!

We've been to Tria, Matysons and the Public House and enjoyed them all (especially Tria - spent an entire rainy afternoon there!) but would like to try something new. We'll definitely do Fugo de Chao on another trip.

I've made dinner reservations at Amada as a fall back.

Does anyone have any recs. for . . .

1. a relaxing, yummy lunch - BYOB or decent wine list/beer selection a must

2. dinner in place of Amada - BYOB OK

3. alternatives to the Contintental or Plough and Stars for pre/post dinner drinks.

Spouse does not drink wine (yes, it is a bummer).

We're going to be staying near city hall but are willing to drive or take a cab.

TIA,
FlashDog

Mexican in Wilmington/South PA??

I've been to the place across from the Pathmark. It's good - authentic - the atmosphere was defintely lacking and everyone stared at us the whole time. STeak tacos (my particular favorite) were a bit fatty but my spouse liked the carnitas.

I too like Border Cafe.

Tacqueria Moroleon is a great, authentic BYOB in Kennett (Spring Garden shopping cetner across from the Gigante). Been going there for 10+ years but just moved to N. Wilm. and it is almost 45 mins.

There is a place in Claymont that I've been thinking about - it has no windows so I've been a bit hesitant. If I get up the nerve, I will report back.

Thanks for the recommendations.

New Wilmington DE place

The service at dinner was great but the service at brunch was not as good. Hopefully, it's improved since you were there.

Mexican in Wilmington/South PA??

I'm a HUGE fan of Tacqueria Moroleon in Kennett but it is WAY too far. Any recommendations for Mexican place close to North Wilmington/PA Line?

Mexican in Wilmington/South PA??

I've read about Mexico Lindo and El Jefe in other posts but they are a bit far away. I'm a HUGE fan of Tacqueria Moroleon in Kennett but it is WAY too far. Any recommendations for Mexican place close to North Wilmington/PA Line?

New Wilmington DE place

OK - it's in Old New Castle but we've just been - for brunch and dinner to The Chef's Table at the David Finney Inn. It was great! The Food is way above average for Wilmington and the atmosphere was a nice combo of laid back and upscale (ate in the bar). Anyone else had similar experiences?
