Recommendations near Palmer House

I'll be in town for a week starting this Sunday the 7th. Please provide recommendations within walking distance of the Palmer House. Would like dinner recs in the 30-40 range (w/out drinks). I would consider further out if exceptional. For example, I am planning to try Topolobampo. I like pretty much anything. Thanks!

First visit to DC -

I'm back from my trip to DC. Unfortunately, I got hit with food poisoning from a hotel sandwich (I know, why was I eating a hotel sandwich....long story short, I had just arrived back at my hotel from being out all day and it was very late). So I didn't get to try a couple of places on my list (Market Lunch, Etete). Anyhow here's my report:

Jimmy T's - Breakfast. Just okay I thought. I was staying at the Penn House that day so it was literally on the same block.
Ben's Chili Bowl - Lunch. Meh. Poster Steve was right, not really worth the trip.
Westend Bistro (Dupont) - Dinner. Good. The pork belly app was fantastic. The halibut entree was just average.
Nora's (Dupont) - Dinner. Good. The beet salad was good. The duck breast was very good. The peach and blueberry pie was very good. I also had to try their organic shade grown harvested by virgins at moonlight coffee....was not impressed.

I post pictures eventually (read by 12/31) on my blog, the happy sumo. Now researching places for my trip to Chicago in December. Thanks everyone for your comments and recommendations!

Thanks everyone for your recommendations so far. What do you think of Market Lunch and Jimmy T's Place for breakfast?

I was born and raised in LA but have lived in Denver for the last few years. I heard about the bulgogi cart at 14th and L so I thought there might be a Korean community in DC. Denver actually has a sizable Ethiopian community and I have tried it but wasn't wowed.

Alright, now I'll HAVE to try Ben's! Pink's is okay, but it's gotten way too popular for it's own good.

First visit to DC -

I will be in DC for five days in mid-September. The first 2.5 days I'm on my own so low budget and hole-in-the-wall recs are appreciated. The second 2.5 days I'm on the company dime so my budget is much higher :-) .

I'll be staying near Capital Hill at first, then Dupont Circle, but I'll go anywhere as long as I can get there from the metro.

I'm looking for:
Budget under $15 - Mexican, Central American, Indonesian, Korean, Deli, Southern/Soul, American (how good is Ben's Chili Bowl???)...anything really except Chinese (I'm spoiled from LA!)

Fine dining $30-50 - Seafood, steak, French, Italian, anything regional.

Help! Four days on the company dime.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far. I forgot to mention that my budget is $50-$75 food only.

Help! Four days on the company dime.

I'll be spending four days at a seminar at the Roosevelt (45th/Madison) next week. I've never been to NYC before and plan to arrive with an empty belly and my company charge card! I'd like to try sushi, seafood, french and steak.

Sushi Zen or Sushi Ann?
Oyster Bar or Oceana?
Maze or Cafe Boulud?
Keen's or Bull and Bear or BLT Steak or Frankie & Johnnie's

I will be alone so it has to be a place that is solo-diner friendly. Also I'd rather not have to make reservations but don't mind eating when they open (5:30-6:00).

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Your favorite simple, yet AWESOME, dish at an LA eatery?

I have not lived in LA for three years, so when I visit at Xmas these are the places I head directly for:

Soft Tostada at J&S - Montebello
Chili Fries at The Hat - Alhambra
Pastrami Burrito at OkiDog - LA Pico
Chicken Tarna at Zankou - Pasadena
Red Cabbage Salad & Cheesebread at Clearman's Galley - San Gabriel
Breakfast Burrito at Lucky Boy's - Pasadena
Chili Tamale at Tommy's - LA
Rib's at Bahooka's - San Gabriel
Bulgogi at The Corner Place - LA

Three more weeks! You guys don't know how good you have it. Of course, I usually gain 10 pounds after visiting!
