Have you heard of M4 Burritos?
Please let it be like La Cumbre or Taqueria Cancun, not something from Hogtown ;)
Brunch in Montreal
I haven't been in quite a while, but L'arrivage restaurant on the top of the Pointe a Calliere museum might fit the bill.
Best prices for an espresso machine?
When I was shopping for the entry-level Gaggias a couple of years ago, the best deal I found was at Café Espresso Lino, just a little below Faema/Jean Talon on St. Laurent.
New to Montreal, looking for European grocery store
Atlantique would be your best bet for German specialities.
Best pizza place in Halifax
Well, I found this quite odd - "After years of living in Montreal where you can find fabulous pizza everywhere", because if you spend any time in Montreal, or just reading the Mtl/QC Chow board, the general consensus is that pizza in Montreal is crap, with an ongoing debate about one place (Bottega).
Italian Pantry; Puff and Stuff; Emeline & Annabelle Couture Cafe (on Monkland, in NDG)
Tell your husband to head on over to Hamel at JTM whenever he needs his speck.
Local source for tarbais beans?
Boucherie Atlantique comes to mind as a possible source...

Restaurant Closings - 2010
They're continuing to produce their products, just no retail outlet. Saw some at La Dépense in JTM.

JTM
I hope they agree to extending the winter enclosure so a few more stands like the nut guy and the mushroom stand can stay for the winter.
Restaurant Openings - 2009
Gourmet Burger was open this week so I popped in to try it. Would definitely rank it above Buns but the price is moving towards M:Brgr territory (burger, two toppings, a small portion of fries and a drink came to $14). They are still getting organized as they didn't have a number of items listed on the menu like the sweet potato fries.
When one of the owners came around asking for feedback, we mentioned being happy that the burgers were not well-done but stayed a little pink in the middle, and from his reaction that didn't seem to be planned.
I can't say I like the presentation with the burgers being served on a narrow, rectangular ceramic tray that is hard to carry with the fries perched in a cone on a stand. You get a little tray for condiments, which are self-serve. It was all a little awkward. But I'd probably put it on my list of places to hit occasionally around Concordia.
Pesticide free apple-picking near Montreal
For the past few years, we've been going to the Maniadakis Organic Orchard in Franklin Centre and have been really happy with the quality. Each year we regret not taking home more.

Moti Mehal plea!
It's been empty the few times I've gone to pick up take out. Have they had any coverage in the francophone press?
Searching Cooking School in Montreal
I took the basic techniques 1 course at the ITHQ a few years ago and loved it. I wanted to keep going but as far as I know they stopped offering courses to the general public and only offer their degree programs and continuing education for industry folks programs.
I've gone to a couple of the "classes" from Mezza Luna / Quincaillerie Dante, including one from Martin Picard, but those are demonstrations and dining, not hands on. Only in French though.
There are the courses offered at Bon Appetit Cookbooks, although I can't seem to locate their website at the moment.
I'm hoping to make my way down to the Hudson Valley for a CIA Bootcamp one of these days - http://www.ciachef.edu/enthusiasts/programs/hp_bootcamps/
Which is the largest SAQ?
I'm guessing you mean on Beaubien/Boyer? The one on Laurier west of Parc has a similar selection.

Tzanet on Acadie in the Marché Centrale has good prices on Sanelli.

Old Montreal breakfast
I just had an excellent brunch at l'Arrivage, the restaurant on the top floor of the archaeology museum, Pointe à Caillière- I haven't seen it mentioned on this board before as a brunch spot, but they had a pretty extensive menu with a number of egg-related options, as well as daily specials. I'll definitely go back. And we enjoyed the great view over the port.
Looking for a supply of mexican dark chocolate.
I've been, but more to eat, than to buy ingredients. When I was there, she did not yet have the full restaurant licence, but you could get tacos, tamales and a few other dishes to eat on the small terrace outside. So for now, most of the space is devoted to selling higher end products she imports and spice blends and sauces she makes herself.

Montreal public market thread-2009
The white asparagus from Daignault that they sell at Louis in JTM is simply outstanding. Worth the price. It must be close to the end of the season already though.

Bonne Maman: the epitome of commercial jams?
In terms of commercial products, IGA carries the Swiss brand Hero, which is usually in the organic section for some reason.
Atlantique carries a wide range of European brands, including several types of Hero preserves that you can't find in IGA.
There's an elderberry jam available at the JTM - Marche de saveurs that I really love but can't recall the maker.
Montreal public market thread-2009
I was happy to see the nut stand back at JTM this weekend.
Pre-made pizza dough in Montreal?
Capital also sells frozen dough but I prefer the one from Milano as well.
Beef cuts translations?
Skirt steak is hampe. Just bought some organic one today at JTM's Prince Noir, where it turns up regularly.
bulk candy store
There's one on the west side of St. Hubert near Beaubien. They have a decent selection of European chocolates, candies and cookies, as well as your standard assortment of sweets.
best chocolates in montreal?
I wanted to get some Swiss easter chocolates today, but the Chocolaterie Suisse on Crescent didn't bring in any this year, so I was trying to track down the place I'd heard about in the West Island. I finally found the name Bangerter, but when I tried calling the number, it's disconnected and the website gets redirected? Just curious if anyone can confirm that they've closed up shop?
