I can't thank you enough for all the recs. It looks like we have quite a range to choose from. I'll let my crew know and I am sure we will have a fine dinner. We are looking forward to dinner and the light show. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Lunch in Yardley

I like Charcol Steak and Canal Street too. Not crazy about the Continental. Christine's is pricer too.

2 birthday dinners

Thanks, My son and I will get the omakase, I can't wait. The other two in our party will have to order something else. And a friend and I are going to Le Virtu on LaBan's review of the place. I was wondering what real diners thought of it. Thanks again for the help.

BYOB Ranting

I haven't been there in a good while, and am now really missing it, Radicchio, on 4th and Wood. I always got a great meal, decent price. Must go back.

Been to Starr's New Pizza Place??

Thaks for the links. Sounds a little dissapointing but will probably try it anyway. Some of those people know WAY too much about pizza.

Joseph Poon Chef Kitchen

Joe Poons Kitchen has been my favoite place for years. I've been in his latest place and always wonder why it's not more crowded. I like the industrial feel--different than most Asian restaurants. The value is fantastic. Joe is so friendly. Cooked personally for a friend and me at his old place on 10th when we got there a little late and his staff was eating.I always recomend him.

Brazillian steak house on 611

Has anyone tried the brazilian steakhouse on 611 in Warrington? We passed it on our way to Wegman's. It seems established but it is the first I noticed . Thanks for any info.

Bridal Shower-Bucks County

We had a lovely shower at Washington Crosing Inn. We used ther upstairs room and had it to ourselves. Not sure about vegetarian but I am sure they could accomodate.
You could try Bella Tori Mansion in Langhorne. I have only been there for dinner --and enjoyed it--but I know they do parties too.

Langhorne recs needed

Duck Sauce in Newtown has terrific chinese and Asian fusion food. I second Piccolo Trattoria. If you want to travel to Bristol there is a really good Indian restaurant on Mill Street , Cafe Bombay, www.cafebombay.biz .

Chowish finds in Yardley/Morrisville area?

I totally agree with Duck Sauce. one of our favorites. For Indian try Cafe Bombay on Mill Street, Bristol. My neighbor introduced us there and he says it's better than some Indian food he has had in NY.

Dining near Levittown

You could try Cafe Bombay if you like Indian. It's 233 Mill Street in Bristol Very close to where you are going. For Italian, Trattoria Giammarco's,8919 New Falls Road, Levittown. Slightly futher away but not enough to worry over. Both BYO. There are several more restaurants in Bristol, but I haven't been so I hesitate to recommend.

French, Special Occasion, Suggestions Please

I also agree with the Inn at Philips Mill. They do vegetables better than any other place I have ever been. How about Le Bon Auberge in New Hope? I have never been but my cousin raved about it. that was awhile ago--is it still there?

Pan Searing Flour?

Pan searing flour is very fine , like wondra, but with some spices and sesonings. Perhaps paprica, salt, pepper, garlic. I like to use it because of the grind, it is not as heavy as all purpose flour. It is more expensive but it won't break the bank, try it if you don't like it don't use it. It's great for chicken marsala and cordon bleu. I used to get it a Shop-Rite in my area but I have not seen it there lately. As a matter of fact I am heading for Wegman's today and it is one of he things on my list. Ironic.

Sweet Lucys?

We like Sweet Lucy's not everything is geat but it's the best we found. I like the brisket. The vinegar sauce is my brothers fav, tangy, and cuts some of the BBQ sweetness if that's what your looking to do. I just passsed a place on Bensalem Blvd. not far from Neshaminy Mall it's called Smokin' Dudes. I haven't tried it but it use to be in Croyden and I heard good things about it at that time.

Evermay-on-the-Delaware in Erwinna (Bucks County)?

It"s been a good while since we were there for an anniversary dinner but it was wonderful. Lovely service, no rushing, great food. The small desserts were a great surprise, we loved all the little bites. I think it is a great spot for a special dinner. It wasn't cheap but I've spent more elsewhere and not been as happy.

Vetri: Degustazione or a la carte?

I agree with the other two postings. I wrote about this a while back. Return on investment is not met with the tasting menu. I had one of the worst salads in my life at the tasting--I should have sent it back. I would have if I had ordered, don't know why I felt funny about complaining with the chef's dinner, What they do well they do very well----onion crepe, gnocchi in brown butter, baby goat, all outstanding. I would go back but it would be with me ordering what I really wanted.

Vetri - Reservation Advice

I too dreamed of the tasting menu at Vetri. I went for my birthday and as my dining partner said ROI (return on investment) was not as expected. Did I get some incredible dishes? Absolutly. Would I do it again? Absolutly Not! I had the worst salad of my life there. I should have, but did not, send it back. I would go on a day when I could order off the menu and stick to what Marc Vetri is known for, the onion crepe, gnocchi &,goat, I'd pay less and get the best they have to offer.

SUNDAY BRUNCH IN BUCKS COUNTY

Ratts at Grounds for Sculpture, This is really in NJ but worth the ride. If it's nice you can walk the grounds after and work off some of the brunch. Pricy-I think it's $49.00 per person.

Vegetable side dish for Christmas Buffet Dinner

I made roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and shallots for Thanksgiving and everyone raved about them.
4 slices of bacon
2 shallots, chopped
2-3 Tablespoons of decent balsalmic vinegar
1 bag Hanover gold line brussel sprouts(I like these better than fresh, more consistant size, really small.Must be GOLD line)
rosemary, sea salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste
Fry bacon crisp and crumble. Add shallots to bacon grease and fry till translucent. Saute brussel sprouts and seasonings just till mixed. You may need a little olive oil if it looks too dry. Take off heat add vinegar and bacon toss and roast in 350 degree oven 12-15 min.
