Psycho Food Fest, Part 2
the "frosting" for topping the Kingfish Cafe cakes is whipped cream, fyi.
Korean restaurants in Shoreline/Lynnwood area
FYI, some of the best dolsut bibimbap and regular bibimbap is at Bento Sushi on NW 85th and 15th (North Ballard). The owners are Korean and so have a couple Korean dishes, including ojingo bokum and gimbap.
Bustle.. Dessert topping or Floor Wax ?
Just saw this: http://www.queenanneview.com/2009/06/10/bustle-opens-just-in-time/
French pastries/macaroons
Honoré in Ballard has them - in 10 flavors or so. Delish.

International Distict Can't Miss?
My husband loves Shanghai Garden...I think it's fine, nothing amazing. EXCEPT I adore the fried tofu with chef's special sauce...I dream about it.
New Peruvian place, Lynnwood

i've loved the Peruvian I'd had in Boston and other places. The Seattle area lacks South American food places in general, so this is great.
Best Bahn Mi in Puget Sound
Just to add to the discussion, the tofu banh mi from Ann's Teriyaki in Ballard is really good. Not saying it's the best, but it's large and the tofu is freshly fried and hot, and everything about it is delicious.
Best popcorn at the movies?
I am wondering what people think is the best movie popcorn in the Seattle area. Two clarifications: 1) I'm not talking about truffled popcorn or something fancy like that, just regular popcorn you can get at a theater; 2) I like popcorn that tastes like popped corn and doesn't taste too much like fake butter or chemicals.
Hwe Dup Bap
I know this is an old post, but Sushi Bento on 85th and 15th NW in Ballard/Crown Hill has the best stone bowl bi bim bap and hwae dup bap we've had in Seattle (lately).
Mangosteens!
I got some the other day at HT Market (which is really great, by the way) on 99 at the Oaktree plaza (old Larry's location) for $6 a pound. They were perfectly ripe.
New Banh Mi place Lynnwood- Yeh Yeh's
I tried this place, too. The tofu banh mi was delicious, and my friends loved the grilled chicken one. Good sized, too. I totally recommend it!
What favorite Places do you go to because of Chowhound
I moved here in August 2003, not knowing a soul. So all I learned about restaurants in the first 6 months was from Chowhound. The huge standout is Mary Chung - we go there weekly. But equally wonderful are the Clam Box, Helmand, Mei Sum, and Greek Corner. A friend said recently, in love with the mapo tofu on his first visit to Mary Chung, "We almost never met!". This is how I feel about these restaurants, and I am so glad we met! Thanks Chowhound community!

South End ideas for this afternoon?
Where should I go this afternoon after the seafood show at the Boston Convention Center? The South End seems like a good spot since it's not too far. Having never really spent any time in the South End, I don't know much. Is there parking, and where should we eat? I've always wanted to eat at the Franklin Cafe. There will be 3 of us, and it will be around 4:00. Any cuisine. Thanks!!
If you had to choose one for tonight...for chef
My aunt is in town from Chicago, and she is a chef (here for seafood show at Hynes). I'm trying to decide where to take her to eat - I usually eat on the Cambridge side, and have limited funds, so don't have an overall sense of restaurants in the city. I've read the board, but still can't decide. No specific cuisine, price cap pp is probably $60, any Boston area location. The first places that I thought of are: Oleana, Rendezvous, and Franklin Cafe - mainly because I have not been to any of them (can you believe it??) and have wanted to. I also thought of Matt Murphy's, which I have been to and love. I've been to Helmand a lot lately, so not there...HELP!
Rockport This Afternoon -- best place to eat fish/clams with kids?
I know you're already gone, but I must say that is ALWAYS entirely worth it for us make our way to the Clam Box in Ipswich if we are in Rockport. The fried scallops are the best out of all the shacks!
I'm thinking about ordering a Lou Malnati's Pizza [Moved from Chains board]
After my best friend and I spent a summer working in North Lawndale, and eating SO much Lou Malnati's pizza and lemon ice, I ordered several pizzas to be delivered to Seattle for her birthday. The pizzas were in great shape, and totally delicious. Okay, so this was like 9 years ago, but still I have such a fondness for it. Maybe I will order one or two for her Christmas gift!
New Fasika (Ethiopian) in Somerville
Just an FYI...I've never been to Addis Red Sea, but there are several ethnic groups in East Africa that make injera-type bread, but it's not fermented. For example, Muslim Oromo people I know make it, but it's called budena and it's not sour.
