Dinner near the 92nd St. Y

Food is good at cafe des Alscaces. Drinks, service, not so much.

Where to buy pizza dough in the Village?

Crabcakes

My personal fave crab cake is le gigot. No filler, very little "sauce", oodles of delicious crab. I've been known to double up and have one as an appetizer and two as my entree. Good times.

UES Coffee

Juliano's is still there. 91st and lex. I really love it. But i'm very biased, since I spent nearly half of high school there.

Il Cantinori

I"ve heard a lot of these really negative stories, so I'm sure that they're true, but Il cantinori has always been one of my absolute favorites. I always love the food there. I guess its up and down.

what's missing from my list of must-try pizzas in nyc?

Wow. I'm really happy that someone else hasn't mentioned my personal favorite: ray's on sixth avenue and eleventh street. Its not a sit down place, but it is just amazingly delicious. Very heavy cheese, just great.

Batali place

My vote would be for Lupa. One of the best "gussying up" of saltimboca that I've seen. I'm also pretty down on babbo. Not the food so much as the scene, which was really wretched touristy the two times i went ( girls from long island showing their thongs at the bar, families fighting with their daughter's boyfriends). But maybe thats just my preference for roman food.

WD-50 is not "weird" enough

I have to say that I didn't think that anything at WD-50 even came close to weird. Maybe it was the season or just the day i went, but I was hoping for gels, mouses, powders, agars, etc. And the "weirdest" thing that I remember on the menu was a steak tartare made from hanger steak.

First Date Spots?

One of my favorite first date spots is chumleys (86 bedford street, in the village). The crowd can get a little B&T, but its a nice combination of casual and delicious (sweet burgers). And the whole "underground literary speakeasy" thing gives you something to talk about.
