The service was impeccable, the cocktails dreamy, the food was other worldly. Boka was the best meal I have had in chicago. It was an experience. Warning the wine list is super pricey.
One lunch, one dinner in Chicago - Avec, Blackbird or Green Zebra?
Avec is amazing. The Menu is always changing so it's great to go again and again. The food is farm fresh, earthy, unique, and full of flavor. With the small plates you can try more dishes from the menu that you wouldn't want to miss. I haven't been to blackbird yet but the publican is also really good, get the pickles.
Labor Day weekend in Austin
I just got back from an Awesome food filled labor day weekend as well. We went to Polvos and had the most amazing fish and shrimp fajitas. Loved all the fresh veggies, but weren't so into their guacamole. The pickled jalapenos at the salsa bar were addictive. We also hit up Sam's for some BBQ and what an experience. Pork ribs most meat I've ever had on the bone and brisket was just so good and tender. Hit up Fonda San Miguel for sunday brunch, tasty tasty, don't forget the dessert bar. The banana bread pudding was unreal. We ended the trip with Magnolia Cafe, well worth the wait. The labor day special: omelette filled with gaucamole, thick bacon chunks, jack cheese, smothered in queso and chipotle , need I say more. Oh yes and Jo's coffee, the less sweet version of the turbo which i believe is called the bavarian bomber was divine. Wasn't so into Amy's Ice cream, kinda disappointed by that one, ice chunks not cool, but all the other great food and margaritas in Austin made up for it.
Degustation in EV???
Degustation was a memorable dinning experience, a great place to go on a date or with a good friend. Definitely would not go with more than one other person since you sit around the open kitchen. The staff was friendly and the food was delightful. I remember each course’s tasteful and visual attributes.
