Italian restaurant in the theater district had a reservation for five saturday night and was promptly seated. very nice that they have an elavator to the second floor - helped us get 2 elderly people with walking problems up there very easily. service was very friendly and professional. our group had 1 tomato soup with shrimp, entrees were 1 ravioli special, 3 sea bass specials (fantastic) and a veal soorentino. desserts were cheesecake, pears and vanilla gelato and tiramusu. 2 glasses of wine. very good food at a fair price in the theater district. bill was about $185- incl tax; tip on top of that. definitely a winner and would happily go back! ----- |

notes from ft myers, sanibel/captiva trip stayed at the sanibel harbour resort and spa for a 3 day business conference. had dinner at the tarpon house on the premises one night. dishes were a pan seared grouper and a chicken dish. both very good. $71- total bill including tax but not tip for 2 people.. food provided at the business meetings throughout the 3 days i'd rate good to very good. added 2 vacation days onto the trip. first day went to gramma dots, 634 n yachtsman dr, sanibel for lunch. got there at 11:25 and people were already lined up for the 11:30 opening. every table was filled about 10 minites after openiing. dishes we had were a fried oyster sandwich and a grouper sandwich. comes with homemade potato chIps and some fruit slices. $27.45 total bill for 2 people with tax but not tip. gramma dots was so OUTSTANDING that after the mucky duck in captiva to watch the sunset and have a drink ($10.00 total for 1 wine and 1 beer), that we went back there for dinner! dishes were the fried oyster dinner, new england clam chowder and fried calamari. total bill $42.51 for 2 people including tax but not tip. our second excellent meal there in the same day. second day, we went to the blue giraffe on periwinkle dr in sanibel and we both had the chicken panini sandwiches. food was good and the price was reasonable. fun atmosphere with staff and patrons watching the inaugeration. we had dinner at timbers restaurant 703 tarpon bay rd, sanibel. dishes were manhattan clam chowder - chock full of delicious ingredients! - crunchy shrimp, scallops and grouper and a red snapper dish. one key lime pie and 2 beers brought the total to $65.72 for 2 people with tax but without the tip. timbers was crowded (bus in the parking lot) and deserved to be! noticed the wait staff was all adult and did an excellent job. hope this post helps the next chowhound going thru the area! |

eros in rochester - very good! traveling we stayed at the inn on broadway - wanted to eat at the restaurant right there - tourenados - but the prices were just unbelievably high. walked about 2 blocks to eros and had a very nice meal. restaurant has a large bar in the center and tables encircling it - was occasionally noisy from the bar. we both had the 10 oz. filet which came with potatoes and vegetable. meat was melt in your mouth good. i had chocolate cake/chocolate ice cream for dessert and wife had the baked apple dessert both very enjoyable. waitress was very friendly and did an excellent job. entrees were $25- each and desserts were $7- and $5-. would reccomend this restaurant to you. |
