Boothby Cocktail

I have made it with Carpaco Antico - a big improvement over ordinary sweet vermouth! This is a wonderful drink - almost like a summer version of a classic Manhattan!

In Search of Affordable Burr Coffee Grinders

Members of the coffee cognoscenti always run after the Baratza. I am here totell you thsan I went through two of tghem in under 3 years: they are tempermental, hard to clean, and warranty service is a bad joke. I even bought the upgraded version (with metal casing and a weighted bottom) the second time and still had no luck. My salvation was the Capresso - cheaper to buy and glitch-free - and STILL operating 4 years later!

Dark 'n' Stormy

Goslings Rum is a requirement---but you have not lived until you make this with Blenheim's Ginger Ale - either the Hot or Not-as-Hot (NAH) varieties. Blenheim is made by the Blenheim Bottling Company in South Carolina. It is VERY hard to find, but can be ordered directly from the bottler or from BevNet. Beware: the Hot variety is not for the faint of heart or taste - it BURNS from its high concentration of ginger. The NAH version is a little less pungent, but still loaded with ginger.

Guinness Cream Soda

I do not know what part of the US fledflew lives in, but Navan is available throughout Virginia. Meeukow vanilla cognac would be an excellent substitute, however....
