How Do I Fill Sink Mounted Soap Dispenser?

It's all figured out now - see above - but no, I did not have the instruction book because the installers threw out all the paperwork that came with it (Grrrrrrr) and I could not find it on line. I emailed manufacturer directlyand that did the trick! Thanks.

How Do I Fill Sink Mounted Soap Dispenser?

Yes, I finally figured it out. The first few times I tried it, it was hard to get the top off and I did not want to pull too hard - thought I'd break something - the manufacturer sent me some tips, too. Thanks.

How Do I Fill Sink Mounted Soap Dispenser?

We just put in a new sink and a Blanco Soap Dispenser. Apparently, you fill it from the top but I do not know how to do it! When I pull off the top, I do not see an opening for pouring liquid soap. HELP! TIA.

Sell me on a single-bowl sink

Gordeaux, Can you please describe what you mean by "recessed"? We are about to install a single farmsink with apron, undermount. It will be my first single, non-split sink and I am verrrrrrrry excited about it.

As a cook, what do you love or hate about your kitchen?

Thank you Sherri. That is very good advice and I can see your point that length and width would be more important. Would you mind telling me the length and width of the sink? The manufacturer?

Kitchen Sink Faucet Recommendations?

We're planning to put in a new sink - a farmhouse sink (single compartment), stainless steel, with an apron, and I have been searching the internet looking at different faucets. It will be single faucet. I like a handle that makes it very easy to turn on and off, and to hot and cold, quickly and easily, when you're moving fast. And, it has to swivel. I also like it to have hose that pulls down.... Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

As a cook, what do you love or hate about your kitchen?

Jennalynn and Jacquelyncoffey - I'm researching farm sinks - I need a new sink and I think that I would love one. Any suggestions for the best depth. I think 8" deep is standard. someone told me I may be able to get 12" - haven't verified that....

Room for One More at Thanksgiving Dinner?

What is your view about invited guests who ask if they bring someone to a sit down dinner. The dinner is not potluck. We have a teeny tiny place but we always says "yes" and just deal with it. We've been invited in years past to the homes of our family members who, when we ask if we can bring someone who would otherwise be alone, we've been told no, there's no room at the table. What do you do in this situation?

Thanksgiving is bringing up another subject around our house. There is one family member and her husband who never bring even a bottle of wine to a dinner at our house. And, these are sit down dinners that we spend a lot of time, money and effort on to host - no gift is required of course - a gift is a gift - but it is noticeable that they repeatedly show up empty handed. They are in their late twenties. We just think it's poor manners. Thoughts?

Hounds with allergies, question for you...

Like jlafler's daughter, I am allergic to peanuts and i avoid tree nuts as a precaution. That may not be technically necessary but it is recommended by so many that i just do it! I miss all these yummy things - now I'm getting hungry. Like someone else mentioned, I wait to bring up my allergy if and when i may order somehthing that coudl cause a problem. I ask, the server asks the kitchen, and then we're good - such as wehther the french fries are in p-nut oil. Easier to deal with it on the spot.

Hounds with allergies, question for you...

<<She talked with the chef who said the only peanut in the restaurant at the time was peanut oil, and she assured him that my allergist approved foods fried in peanut oil. So, he allowed the reservation.>>

I think that you were treated like <<explosive material" not because of a food allergy but because of conflicting information/instructions to the chef. I find it very disconcerting to hear that you are allowed to have peanut oil. You may want to get a second opinion on that one. I am speculating that this bothered the chef too - after he had a chance to think about it. If you are really allergic to peanuts, then it would follow that you cannot have peanut oil. There is no way to know how refined or purified the oil is and whether you will have a reaction to it until you do! He may have figured that you were not really allergic to peanuts and that you were perhaps going to be difficult for him at some level because you were willing to eat peanut oil. Or, that if you were really allergic to peanuts that you could have an allergic to the foods friedn in peanut oil. Just a thought. I vote with the chef on this one!

First Peak: New England Style Seafood Shack Finally Available in LA: BP Oysterette in Santa Monica

We wer there this past week. We got there late after the main dinner crowd - almost 9 p.m. - and it was a good time to get a table. Service friendly and attentive. A young gentleman appeared to be a GM or owner and checked on us, as well as otherrs. He was very friendly. I had a white burgandy from France that was delicious, but my husband thought it was a small pour. Then, I had the butter lettuce salad, with gorgonzola cheese and toasted shallots. It was good but it was too large. It was enough for three people! Don't get me wrong - I ate it all and Hermien Lee in heaven would be smiling down. The lettuce was fresh but it didn't "pop" with that market fresh flavor like the butter lettuce at Annisette. Then i had wild salmon, grilled, with a checca sauce on the side, and that was fabulous. The fish was good, not to die for.

My husband had excellent oysters from BC- check something. They were served with two sauces - a cocktail sauce, which he said needed a little tabasco, and a vinegar sauce which was fine. Good mixture. The oysters were really nice - perfectly briney.

Then, he had steamed clams that come with the tails on them. It was a little bit of work to take off the tails. Large quantity. The broth was good - more garlicy than traditional, but my husband loves garlic, so he was happy. They served them with butter on the side, but he did not use the butter. He said that the broth was rich enough and did not require enhancements.

He had the clam chowder and said that it was good. It was served in an oversized bowl, which was not traditional, but ok. It was not thickened.

Overall, we enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant, especially for the oysters. Their fried seafood is with corn batter and we're curious to try fried oystsers. Maybe next time we would try Oyster rockefeller.

We also liked the decor but one observation about the flat screen. It should not have been mounted on a background that was vertical stripes. A little hard to watch that way. But they were showing very cool vintage surfing videos.

The oysters were the star attraction but everything was good.

How do you grocery shop?

How do I grocery shop? Very inefficiently! I forget my coupons, my paper bags, and I sometimes forget to buy everything I really need. Occasionally, I take a list and that is helpful. Like others, my list has items grouped together based on location in the store. I like to go up and down all of the aisles, but I go quickly.

Seaweed for my herbs?

We were visiting the beach and saw a man taking large quantities of fresh seaweed and putting them in his truck. He told me that he puts it iin his garden as mulch. Can I try it with my herbs: basil, mint, and rosemary? Thanks.

Best chocolate chip cookie in LA?

Deluscious Cookies! I just had some last week. They are without nuts. They are thin, large, crispier at the outer edges and softer in the middle. Just the right amount of choc chips. Amazing ingredients - no skimping. How do I know? I sent some as a gift last week and sent some to the office for all of us to enjoy too -- I made a point of including a few choc chips in our office order so that I could have some.

Does anyone enjoy shopping at Gelsons market as much as I do?

Depending on what I am buying, I split my time between Gelson's and Ralph's. I prefer to not shop at Whole Foods at all. I have to give the edge to Gelson's for meat and produce, but they are not always perfect.

Full pitcher of ice water dumped on me, do you think this high end restaurant responded correctly?

I am surprised by the posters who say "it was just water." Water on certain clothing fabrics and shoe leathers can be permanently damaging, or the cleaning bill may be very expensive to correct the problem, if the material can even be salvaged. And sitting in wet clothes could be embarrassingly revealing. The OP was a very good sport all things considered. As to the comp - not sure there is a right or wrong answer to the question of how to calculate what is fair - but I think that the restaurant does not get hurt if it errs on the side of being very generous. As I read it, the OP was disappointed in the amount of the comp and, therefore, the amount was insufficient. The server, though accidently, ruined the entire meal for both husband and wife , so I believe that they should have paid for the entire meal. and, then , the OP would be telling us the name of the restaurant that treated her so well.

I agree with your fiance but it doesn't matter what you call it really - you've given people the time to arrive and they will plan their mornings accordingly. Have a great time!

When the waiter wants to clear the dishes before everyone is done

My pet peeve too. I eat slower than my husband. If someone tries to clear his plate it interrupts our conversation which I find very annoying. We generally say he's not done - and he isn't - because he's waiting to see what I'm not going to eat so that he can gobble that up too!!

Cooking and tasting . . . do you use the cooking spoon?

I don't taste with a finger. i use a few spoons. If i do taste from a spoon and put it back, it's a are event and i only feel guilty if i am fighting something and think I can give someone a cold or flu.
