i 2nd great grilled fish at Mary's Fish Camp - sooo good
Oriental Garden
Oriental Garden is one of my fav restaurants in Chinatown. During the numerous times my family has dined there, we have seen small parties of 2-3 tables being hosted. I recommend their bamboo satae bbq beef sticks, steamed oysters w/xoxo sauce served on a half-shell(not on menu, but they'll make it for you), salt-baked pork chop(like fried pork chop), any sort of stir-fried green vegetable(surprisingly tasty), and a toss-up between clams w/blk bean sauce or some other seafood dish. We are actually planning to go back this weekend =D
best place for pancakes?
ditto! i don't even like pancakes that much and found their blueberry pancakes w/maple butter to die for - YUM!
Pizza in NYC
the best pizza i've had in NYC is by far DiFara in Brooklyn. if you can get past the long wait and dirty tables, it's heaven. but i'm wondering if DiFara is soo great and highly praised why aren't there more pizzerias like DiFara. his mix of cheeses, san marzano sauce, olive oil drizzle, freshly cut basil seems to be a hit.
Pâtisserie Ceci Cela - not so much
i use to work in the area and the company i worked for always got cakes from there whenever it was someone's b'day. every one i've tried has been delicous. i highly recommend.
Best Espresso Shake / Gelato Dessert Drink??
affogato is one of my all-time fav desserts. if you like the one at Al Di La, try the one at 'Inoteca' - trust me, it's deeelish!!!
Tigerland closing???
I heard that Tigerland is closing Sunday. Is this really true???
I spent all day yesterday researching hip, fusion restaurants w/affordable quality food w/o the 2 hr wait and 99% of the reviews that I found were superb. Had high hopes. But now I can't even begin to express how how appalled and heartbroken I am. :-(
Thank god I'll get my chance to at least try this place out before it's gone forever.....
favorite frosty desserts?
Inoteca's affogato is a can't miss!
it's creamy vanilla gelato served in a tall glass with a shot of espresso poured on top.
sounds simple, but is oh sooo yummy - frothy, frosty, a perfect blend of decadent deliciousness.
Best Pizza (Neapolitan) - NYC
went to DiFara's for the very 1st time this wk and it was AMAZING!
crisp, slightly charred, thin-crust, tangy tomatoey sauce - it's mere perfection in my book!, topped w/a flavorful blend of a mix of cheeses, pieces of freshly cut basil, and a bit greasy the way i like it.
downside is..... the trek alllll the way out to Midwood, can get clausterphobic, need to overlook the lack of cleanliness, and even in off-hrs there was a quite a lengthy wait, but it's soooooo worth it!
the old man from behind the counter, Dom, the owner, works on all his pizzas right behind the counter for all to see. i stood in awe as he paced himself one incredible pizza after another like clockwork. he truly is a master at his craft and each pizza really is like art - genius!
i fear the day he retires. if only he could be cloned, so there could be more locations.
Best Mango Lassi
I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I do, but let us know what you think.
Mmmmmm..... Jackson Diner mango lassi mmmmm....
Best Mango Lassi
Jackson Diner in Jackson Heights has THE best mango lassi hands down!!!
Comes in a tall glass, chilled to perfection, sweetness just right - worth the trip out to Queens!
