Bachelor Party Dinner Near Fort Myers - Need Help

Thanks everyone! Going to go Chops / bars in Bonita or Vino del Notte + rooftop + cigars in Fort Myers. Unless we spontaneously start yelling "Spring Break!" and head over to FMB.

Bachelor Party Dinner Near Fort Myers - Need Help

Eight of us flying in from California, Boston, NY for a long weekend. Would really appreciate any recommendations for places to go anywhere near Fort Myers Beach Area for a blowout dinner on a Saturday night in March.

Sanibel, Cape Coral, downtown Fort Myers... where would you go if you prioritized the following in order:
1. (Well) above average food. Seafood, Steak, Italian probably the best three options. Maybe Sushi. Hoping to avoid pub/fried food.
2. Atmosphere - I've been to a few places with great food in strip malls in the Fort Myers area (Cibo, Sasses). If there is a place like this with a good bar attached or nearby, that could be a big benefit.
3. Location - don't care where it is as long as we don't have to drive an hour (hoping to avoid having to drive to Naples... is there something that fits the bill in N. Naples?)

In NYC/Boston/SF, I think the clear winner would be an old school steakhouse or some sort of cool new place. In SW FL...? Any ideas welcome. I've read the board talking about if anything good is in Fort Myers... nothing jumped out as right for this dinner. Am I missing anything?

Thanks!

Good booze lunch place in soho/lower west v.?

Lucky Strike? You could probably get a huge booth/table combination in the back.

Help! Cheap, Hip Restaurant Needed for Group of 7 Downtown

Cafe Noir in Soho. Get a bunch of plates to share.
Freeman's is also really cool and a good value (not exactly cheap).

I also wandered into this place not long ago and loved it.

6 Restaurant recs under $60 p.p. all in

Just had a fantastic meal at Kefi last night on the UWS. I highly recommend it. Two of us had two entrees (grilled shrimp and orzo in a spicy tomato sauce; pork souvlaki with greek salad and another side of rice and spinach or something), one appetizer (grilled octopus and bean salad) and 2 drinks each (beer and wine) for a grand total of $40per person including generous tip. Cash only. Place is on 79th and Broadway.

Looking for Killer BBQ or Burgers in SoHo

the burger at the Nancy Whiskey just south of Canal is supposed to be very good. never had it though. go over to the corner bistro at 8th ave and jane - only a short ride on the ACE line.

oh, actually Lure Fishbar is on my burger list to try. right in Soho. supposedly one of the city's best underrated burgers.

Help! I need a very dark, sexy place for drinks for tomorrow evening!

To be clear, you want the lounge there, not the bar in front. They are strict about letting non-guests in.

That place is called Underbar. And it's eh.
Flatiron Lounge or Aspen might work. Both in the 20s.
Actually, the bar at Gramercy Park Hotel would be perfect. Make a reservation or you'll have trouble getting in.

Michelada?

The one at Centrico in Tribeca is excelente. The one at Florencia 13 on Sullivan is hit or miss. Last time it took plenty of sipping plus 2 extra Tecates to dilute it enough to drink it - way too much Tabasco. Both have outdoor seating.

Best iced coffee?

Dunkin Donuts. I'm addicted. One out of 10 times it's horrible, but I'll take those odds.

What do Chowhounds do for a living (besides eat of course)? [old]

This is a really interesting collection of weird jobs and backgrounds.

I'm late 20s, work in strategy for a huge media/publishing company and live in Manhattan. I go through alternating periods of spending way-too-lavishly on meals up to three or four nights a week and then panicking about how much I spent and "regressing" to eating cheap street food. No matter what I go for the good stuff though. And I'm trying to start cooking more, but it's hard with no dishwasher and about four square feet of counter space...

New, top notch restaurants

The name escapes me, but a nice, well-reviewed Italian place just opened on Broome St just west of W Broadway. Next to the Subway (the sandwich shop, that is).

And keep your eyes peeled because further down the street is massively hyped Tailor, which could open at any time. And across the street is Lola, where I am looking forward to checking out the gospel brunch if they ever get the place opened.

Congratulatory dinner suggestions for colleagues

Daisy Mays BBQ on 11th Ave. BYOB and family style barbecue. Get two orders of the pork butt if you don't want to get the whole pig, which I think is out of your price range.

Can't think of much else - maybe you could get one of the places on 9th ave to do a family style meal for a pre-arranged price. $400 is not much. Maybe Uncle Nick's for Greek food? They have big tables.

Ninja deserves a good beating

No, eyes were wide open. But I am always optimistic - maybe someone there will have decided to start trying... Not this time though.
I was at least hoping it would be more kitschy and fun. Instead it was almost somber, despite a lot of drinks.

Ninja deserves a good beating

The food was awful, 4 hours for dinner, and $150/pp (granted, with 5+ bottles of sake). I am never going back.

Lowlights:
- We all arrived on time and asked to be seated, as previously discussed, for a surprise birthday. Fifteen minutes later, we were still waiting in the small lobby when the birthday boy appeared. So much for that surprise.
- After being seated at 9:20 or so in a private room for 12, the waiter first appeared to pour water at about 9:40. The first drinks arrived at around 10.
- Waiter pushed hard toward one of the $50/$70/$90 tasting menus to "ensure we are all eating at the same time"
- The crabcakes, featured as an option on most of the menus, was a lightly fried shell of mayo, as far as I could tell. The sweet and sour pork or whatever featured some of the fattiest (and not in a good way) meat I have eaten.
- In fairness, the wasabi steak was decent, though small
- Every new bottle of sake was immediately poured into every half full glass in sight - they were pushing hard to keep those bottles coming.
- My green tea ice cream had freezer burn

- And the ninja part was halfhearted at best. We were out for a birthday and expecting a little more (ie - any effort). Our server was a black-attired blonde guy who appeared every forty-five minutes or so to deposit bad food in front of the wrong people. The lame magic trick guy that showed up at about hour 3.5 didn't help. His "is this your first time here?" was met with quite a few "yeah, and our last time" by more than one of us.

- The decor was cool though.

Wine Bar - E. Vil or LES

I stumbled into Jadis a few weeks ago after dinner at Freemans. Great, great place. The sliced meat cheese and veggie platters looked awesome as well.

Try SRO if it's still open. Hidden bar in the basement of a walk up building. On... or 50th or 51st (whatever corner Eatery is on), south side of st, just west of 9th ave. Beer and wine only. But quiet and dark and unique.
