Sweet Cherry Peppers

I like them as is but a classic antipasto item in my house is...cut the top off, remove the seeds, stuff with provolone and prosciutto (either/both) or with a savory cream cheese.

Legal Sea Food raw bar

Tho it paints Legal in a good light is that a real Berkowitz production? Kinda doubtful. ive had raw oysters and cherrystones at various Legals, all impeccable but i tend to go to chestnut Hill, Burlington, and the airport rather than downtown.

inexpensive meals worthy of dinner party

That is a great, great little recipe

The Balsams, Dixville Notch NH--WHAT HAPPENED

This is what the cntraveler web site says

"Truth in Travel is the guiding principle for all content published in Condé Nast Traveler. Other travel publications often accept free travel and accommodations. Condé Nast Traveler does not. It is independent of the travel industry. The magazine always pays its own way"

This exchange was on the board in Jan...this is probably the same rating theyre reporting on. I still wont make the 3+ hour drive up. Notanymore.

Your BEST Chicken recipes...

For parties, I marinate overnite wings/drum-ettes in (in = proportion) 1/4 good soy sauce 1/4 good balsamic vinegar 1/4 olive oil and 1/4 white wine (any) in a huge bowl overnight. Amt of marinade depends on amt of wings. Then I broil them.

Is this a chain? Has anyone liked this Mex rest(in a strip mall) in Salisbury, MA (Directly on Rte 110 I think). Was going to a movie last night and for the 1st time noticed it. Thx.

Salt Pork

Sounds similar to how I use the s.p. to flavor vegs. This is a memory stretch, but do you remember if your grandmothers blanched/soaked it first before frying?

Salt Pork

I have a sizable chunk of salt pork sealed and in my refrigerator. Is it doable for anything other than seasoning vegs/chowder? I remember my ma had a recipe which called i think for soaking it in milk overnight then roasting like a small roast? Could be wrong. Long time ago...

Need some sides..................

Like the couscous idea. Maybe some roasted new potatoes with a little olive oil salt & pepper. Maybe a basket of warm bread or rolls. Some acorn squash, just with butter salt pepper.

recipes that travel house to house

Simple and quick is good as in golferb above. Maybe a pork tenderloin. Homemade calzone or thick crust pizza.

BTW pam i make lamb stew.
1 cup chicken broth 2 cups beef broth (or 3 all one kind)
3 carrots cut up , i dont scrape
3 onions cut up
3 or 4 potatoes cut up
2 pounds lamb I use shoulder chops
red pepper, salt, black pepper (maybe a 1tsp or 2 of each) and a pinch of nutmeg

Throw all in a crockpot, cook. Really good.

Good restaurants in Lowell area?

Ive eaten there prior to hockey games at the Tsongas. They are good. Had my first taste of alligator there as an app....alligator nuggets. Nice servers too.

Orono, Bangor, Bar Harbor Beef

I searched the boards but the only answer I got to this I think the place is closed, Pilot Grill. Will be in Orono this weekend (staying in Bangor) for hockey (of course) and want to know a place where I can get a great steak or prime rib. Prefer a not dressy place. Got to be somewhere better than the 99 but Ill do that if there isnt. Thx

Awesome Sushi north of Boston - what's your vote?

Stomach Flu--What to Drink? Nibble?

looking for a few good meals ,York, maine area

i feel that pain....sometimes I figure the only way I could get into the Steakhouse without waiting an hours is the 'off season'. I know the golferbitch is a fan of Marcias Mexican in Wells rte 1. theyre year round and tasty I just tried their pork fajitas last weekend.

Slicing fruit

Little (zero) experience with mangoes but much with avocados. What I do is slice the avocado once down the stem line the vertical circumference if thats a phrase. You can 'feel' how deep to slice. Once youve sliced it give each half a slight twist and the halves will separate with the stone clinging in one. Scoop that out and youre good. This is much easier with ripe avocados btw

Got help w/PotRoast, onto Bean Dip

Yes it was cold.

Got help w/PotRoast, onto Bean Dip

Maybe garlicky I dont remember horseradishy so if it was not very Definite "tang" tho..

Got help w/PotRoast, onto Bean Dip

as a kid my aunt served this bean dip It was not like onion dip or refried beans-texture, it was more "loose" w/ whole red kidney beans. Sort of the consistency of large curd cottagecheese maybe more liquidy. Remember it as pinkish color, could be wrong, but it was really good on toasted bread/crackers. Sound familiar to anyone? Recipes?

Is it wrong for a grown man to crave crunchy cheetos? What junkfood do you crave?

Not really a food but at the moment I'm craving either a Spicy Hot V8 or a Clamato Juice.
(& yeah the blood pressures fine)

Great BBQ @ Yankee Smokehouse, Ossippee, NH

Great indeed. Once on a frugal day i made a meal of their cornbread and bbq beans. Mmm.
