London for 4 days
Thanks everyone - great recommendations! Leaving tonight so we'll take these with us on the plane and figure things out when we get there. (and definitely NO tex-mex) :)
London for 4 days
Hi, my husband and I are taking a "babymoon" to Europe and will be in London for 4 days this month. I haven't been there in 10 years since I studied there one summer in college, so I could really use some updated (and more sophisticated) recommendations since my time there.
We're staying near the Holburn tube station but definitely will be traveling around the city. Would love to sample a good variety of food we can't get back home, but definitely at least one of each of these types:
1. Indian
2. Tea
3. Fish & Chips / Pub food
4. Chinese / Dim Sum
5. Any other good local ethnic food
Which restaurants are near other London hotspots / potential tourist stops? Thanks in advance for your recommendations!
Looking for recommendations in or near El Paso (menudo, tamales, fine dining, and anything else!)
If you're looking for fresh, casual, gourmet, try Ripe Eatery. http://eatripe.com/
Great brunch, lunch, and dinner. Eclectic menu, great friendly owners.
Must have at Charlie Palmer's?
Going to CP's this week and wondering what your favorite items on the menu are. Anything I have to have? Anything I should stay away from? I love trying new things, not one to get the "safe" thing on the menu.
Thanks!
Nonna (Dallas) Current Menu
The white pizza with Littleneck Clams. Depending on who is joining you, you might want to order like my husband and I do. One app/salad, the aforementioned pizza, and one entree, all to share. Delish!
Mercury Grill - What's your favorite thing to order?
Going to Mercury Grill tonight with the in-laws. I've been there before and loved everything I've ordered, but I'm wondering what your favorite appetizer, salad, and/or entree is?
Vegas Restaurant Help
Does anyone know how much the tasting menu is at Michael MIna?
Las Vegas bachelorette/girls weekend
I'm going to Vegas with 14 of my closest friends for my bachelorette party/girls weekend. We need to pick out our 2 dinner spots and even though I've been to Vegas a handful of times, I'm having a hard time narrowing it down. We're thinking something good but somewhat reasonably priced (for Vegas strip) Friday night and maybe sushi Saturday night. Two ideas we've come up with are Spago (Caesar's) and Yellowfish (Bellagio). We're looking for good food, fun atmosphere, accommodating for a group of our size, and not crazy expensive. Think it's possible?
Thanks for any light you can shed on these decisions!
House of Blues - Gospel Brunch?
Has anyone been to the House of Blues Sunday Gospel Brunch? Sounds like fun but I wonder if the food is good too?
Great Mexican for Group Dining (635 / 35E)
I would call Mi Cocina back and let them know you have 30 people because they might treat that differently than a usual 'reservation'. They have a back room that would be perfect for your group and the 'Mi Co' at Preston-Forest is my all time favorite Tex-Mex, and that's saying a lot.
Dallas area cheapest best restaurant
The Grape is romantic but I haven't been since the ownership changed last year.
How about Taverna (Italian) near Knox/Henderson? Great food, shareable portions, fun area. You could definitely get out of there for ~$80.
DFW: Sushi Star?
Has anyone tried Sushi Star at Preston/Royal? Looking for a good sushi place to go to for an inexpensive weekday lunch.
Villa-O??
Last Friday we organized a happy hour on the patio at Villa-O. Our waiter was great but the bar manager kept breathing down his neck and told us to not put the menus on the table because it "ruins them". The bar manager was overbearing. From the beginning we told him the number of people we expected in our party, as each person showed up and pulled up a chair, he would come over and get antsy and disapprove of a person sitting with us, even though we were still under our initial estimate and were ordering expensive drinks and appetizers.
When the sun went down it got chilly outside and when we asked to move inside for dinner they told us it would be over an hour. We paid our tab and happily went around the corner to Taverna for a fantastic meal!
Villa-O??
Bummer to hear all the negative reviews - I'm meeting a big group for drinks, and possibly dinner there tomorrow night. Maybe we'll have a drink and walk somewhere else nearby...
Firefly Restaurant in Addison?
I had high hopes for Firefly after reading the review and the menu online. I asked the waiter for his recommendation and I was underwhelmed with it - the Lemongrass Chicken. It was just overcooked bite size pieces of dry chicken with very little sauce and no veggies. I will give it a try again though and the bar looks really neat.
Victory Park - Dallas?
Going to the Mavs game and my sister and I want to grab a bite and a drink before the game somewhere in Victory Park. We looked at the review of Victory Tavern and the food only got 1 star...anyone have any other recommendations that are A) relatively quick, and B) without spending a ton of $? Thanks!
best mexican in dallas?
Mi Cocina (several locations around town) is a owned by a Dallas family and has delicious, simple Tex Mex. Try a Mambo Taxi (margarita with sangria swirl) and anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed.
Hector's on Henderson?
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has been to Hector's (in Dallas) recently and if so, do they recommend it? Is it worth the $? We went years ago when it first opened and it underwhelmed, but I'm interested in giving it another try.
Thoughts?
Lunch in Uptown..oak lawn @lemmon?
Green Papaya - great vietnamese place, good service, and has a patio.
Grill on the Alley?
I'm going to Grill on the Alley tonight (at the Dallas Galleria) for the first time. Anyone been? Suggestions? Thoughts?
DFW - Upscale Indian Restaurant
Not sure about which place has the best South Indian food, but I have heard bad reviews of Clay Pit and I would recommend India Palace (635/Preston). Authentic, good service, great food.
2900
beef tenderloin stuffed with manchego - yum! also their grilled boston salad is one of their signature dishes and it's great!
Vegas?
Hi, we're going to Vegas next week and was wondering what you thought were good restaurants to go to (of varying cuisine type, price, etc.). We'd love to go to places unique to Vegas or that are rare/hard to find anywhere else. We're staying on the strip and will probably venture into Downtown one day. Any and all recommendations welcome and appreciated!
Bijoux (Dallas) Any reports?
I'm referring to Tesar Mansion, as in 2 weeks ago. Didn't have a very good experience at the Mansion and with Bijoux being a third of the price and 10 times better, Bijoux is the obvious winner.
Bijoux (Dallas) Any reports?
Bijoux is fantastic! Much better food, selection, quality and service than even the Mansion. We did the 5-course option. Very creative options like an oyster tasting, foie gras with big eye tuna (seen in the picture in the Guide review), and a creative cheese course. Only hiccup is that I wouldn't order the venison, just like the review in the Guide says (wish I had read it prior to going to Bijoux) it is chewy. Instead I would opt for the beef, it was outstanding. Overall it is a great experience, similar to Lola, only better!
