Brooklyn Fare

@chewbie- I don't think mine was an outlier experience. If you see the review for Cody2 above (which I wish I would have seen before I wasted $115++) it seems this is recurring. it's mediocre food served on fancy plates designed to make you feel like you are taking part in something exclusive. however, anyone who spends money or their time here is wasting it.

Brooklyn Fare

this place was awful. not only was the price exorbitant but the chef was extremely rude. If i am paying 115++ for your unoriginal and uninspired tasting menu (that by the way left my husband hungry enough for a slice of pizza on the way home) then the least you could do would be cordial. the chef was extremely condescending and obnoxious. i could give specific examples but there are too many. i'm sorry dude, but take your ego elsewhere. i've been to mokofuku ko and it blows this place away. for 10 dollars more you can get the tasting menu at Bouley where the environment and service far surpass Brooklyn Fare. In short i really would say to save your money and go elsewhere. the hype on this place is misplaced.

Oyster/Seafood situation in New Orleans affected by oil spill?

I will be heading to New Orleans in two weeks for a short weekend trip. Was looking forward to the seafood festival and trying some gulf oysters. Wondering what the situation is down there with the oil spill? I heard some places were getting oysters from Texas? Anyone down there have the scoop on whats been going on? So sad.

Looking for caterer

I'm also interested. I've read some mixed reviews online and wondering if they are without merit? Any info would be appreciated!

Need advice-party rental/catering

Hi. I'm trying to plan a cocktail party with some hors d' oeuvres at a rooftop penthouse. We are trying to stay within budget. Does anyone know of any good budget friend party rental places where we could rent some cocktail tables, china, etc. Also, if anyone can recommend a budget friend caterer that does hors d'oevres that would be great. Thanks!

Looking for a place to have a cocktail engagement party for 50-75 people.

Yea. Frankie's is cute and all but honestly it serves freakin pasta and pieces of bread with some tapenade smacked on it! I don't need a drink-centric place, I could even do wine and beer (which at Frankie's was not MUCH less expensive then the open bar).

Looking for a place to have a cocktail engagement party for 50-75 people.

I'm looking for a place in Manhattan or Brooklyn to have a cocktail party with some light food in celebration of an engagement. In the alternative I'd be willing to rent out a reasonably priced small loft space and bring in my own bartender/catering. Any suggestions? Looking to keep costs reasonable here. I've looked into Frankie's Spuntino and it comes out to almost $100/pp for open bar and some light apps which is just ridiculous. Help!

Rio De Janeiro- New Year's Eve

Can anyone down in Rio let me know why it has been SO COLD the past few days? Is this normal!!!!!!

Rio De Janeiro- New Year's Eve

Fasano Al Mare is $1500 reals a person for dinner!!! That is about $900 U.S. dollars which is insane even by New York City standards. It isnt even open bar- just wine and champagne I think. I think I will take your advice and do the Copacabana fireworks thing and then go to Ipanema afterwards. What is the MAM Museum?

Rio De Janeiro- New Year's Eve

Flavia- Obrigada!! I was told on Reveillon that the beach in Ipanema usually has fireworks or a concert or a dance party? I am staying at the Marina Palace in Leblon and am concerned about the safety of walking back from Copacabana late at night on Reveillon. Also, are you allowed up to the roof of the Fasano if you are not a guest? Thank you for your help!

Rio De Janeiro- New Year's Eve

I am going to be in Rio (staying in leblon) from December 26, 2007 until January 2, 2008. I am looking for restaraurant suggestions in general. In particular I am looking for a place in Ipanema for New Year's Eve (Reveillon). Ideally it would be close to the beach so that we could head there after to see the fireworks, shows, etc. I was thinking maybe the Fasano Mare restaurant in the new Philippe Starck hotel? I don't mind expensive if its a cool scene and the food is good.

Thanks.

PINKBERRY ON SAWTELLE!

Pinkberry is this vile "yogurt tasting" frozen yogurt topped with insanely overpriced fruit. A small cup with some toppings can cost as much as a moderately priced lunch.
