Japanese Hibachi Restaurant (Manhattan)

Mow mow,
Thank you for the great suggestion.
Columbia University area and this place sounds just perfect!

Japanese Hibachi Restaurant (Manhattan)

My about to be 25 year old daughter said she would like to go to a Hibachi Sushi restaurant for her birthday.

What sushi place in Manhattan also has hibachi?

Please don't say Benihana !

Thanks

Mugs vs cups & saucers

I use and have both mugs and cups.

As others mentioned you can buy a "desert set" and it will have cake plates and small cups and saucers.

The nice thing about a "cup" for me it's the right amount of coffee to serve after eating a meal. I have a huge mugs of coffee in the morning.

The mug is just too much coffee to drink after a meal in the evening.

Pre-theater - DB Bistro Moderne, Bar Boulud or Seasonal?

The whole "walking" thing is really fascinating. I just assume everyone wants to walk.

The worst is when friends or family who live in Suburbia visit, they don't want to walk anywhere! My nephews who grew up in suburbia, they whine while they walk, my kid who grew up in Manhattan when away at college told me she missed the most about NYC is the really long walks one neighborhood to the next.

Best price for good quality Parmigiano-Reggiano in Manhattan

gata & Valentina, the most overpriced place to buy anything !

I won't shop in places that are overpriced. I don't mind expensive. I buy at Fairway for exact same quality cheese.

I too am a big fan of Marseille on 44th and 9th - both because it's convenient to the theater and the food is always good. For an out of towner the biggest mistake they make is eating far away from the theater they are going to. Eat somewhere that is a quick walk to the theater. Forget about a taxi ride there, insanity the clogged streets, you will be stuck in traffic.

Need BIG country-style breakfast in NYC (other than Clinton St Bakery)

This is a case for cooking breakfast at home, or going to any old Greek diner.

Best is to cook a breakfast for your friend. Such an easy meal to make. Resturants never serve you enough bacon to really satisfiy ones desire to eat alot of it!!!

If you are set on eating out, all the places i know have horrendous lines. But fit the bill for your request.

Anniversary dinner - cozy but excellent food recommendations?

I'm on the UWS I like Ouest for a quiet romantic dinner.
The booths are wonderful and i like sitting next to each other in a booth always sexy and romantic. That's me :)

Salt bagel in NYC

H & H has the most atrocious bagels in town.
They are gummy and sweet, that is not considered a good NY bagel. They need to have a crisp bite with a light inside to be a good bagel.

I hate to reveal to the public my favorite bagel store since it is already too crowded whenever I visit. The inept staff does not know how to work a busy store with a long line.

The Bagel Store on the corner of 90th Street and Amsterdam Street.
They carry salt bagels all the time.
If you like really crispy bagels order the flat "flagel" bagel
