Eating at the Bar at Scopa (Healdsburg)
I am so jealous. I was suppossed to have dinner there with a group of eight while I was there a week ago. For whatever reason, they couldn't accomodate us. We moved to Willi's and did end up having a delectable tapas assortment there instead. A hundred times better than anything we ate out of the Dry Creek Kitchen, thats for sure.
Morro Bay Restaurants
Gourmet Grub on Morro Bay Blvd serves good, cheap lunch and dinner. Everything is made from scratch, so sometimes it takes a while, but its worth the wait. The soups are especially great.
Also, don't miss the Taco Temple. Its a random location, in a grocery store parking lot, but their tacos (and everything else) are 100% AMAZING. Traditional mexican meats mounded on fresh tortillas, covered in a tasty salad. If there is a line, wait it out. You will not be sorry.
Paso Robles Wineries to avoid
Mastantuono was recently sold & is closed for re-model. They had a huge close out sale on all of their wine...
Paso Robles Wineries to avoid
I don't think that is a fair piece of advice. What about Eberle, or Chumeia, even Bianchi. All use east side fruit & produce fabulous Paso Robles wines...
Great Breakfast near 101 in SLO-Atascadero-Paso Robles?
Louisa's is my favorite home-cooked style breakfast. Their linquica & eggs tastes so dang good:)
Mexican eats in Paso Robles or San Luis Obispo
La Plaza Bakery & Cafe in Soledad. I have no idea how my parents found this place, but I no one in my family passes by without stopping. The tortas & burritos are to die for. Simply the best carnitas I have ever ate. Despite the location, the inside is always spotless and the help gracious. The bakery items are irrestible too! Just take the Soledad exit (any of them will work) and follow the street straight through town. La Plaza is about half way through town on the east side of the street. If you keep going straigh it will put you right back on 101.
Breakfast and Lunch from SD to SF?
The Main Street Grill in Cambria is a definite stop for myself & all of my friends. It is about 45 minutes north of SLO, just off of HWY 1. It is the counterpart to Firestone Grill in SLO. Both offer delicious BBQ'ed fare that is perfect for lunch or dinner. My mouth is watering just thinking about their ABC burger, my boyfriend is partial to their tri tip sandwich. The Main Street Grill has an expanded menu with seafood offerrings, and some of the most satisfying, inexpensive clam chowdere I have found. Even the salads are terrific.
best tortillas from super markets in L.A.and O.C.
From a run-of-the mill grocery store, I prefer Diana's brand of tortillas, both flour & corn. If your store doesn't carry them, try the Guerruero brand. If you can find their uncooked ones, they are definitely the closest to fresh tortillas. Just make sure you heat them in a pan, the microwave is not an option! If you can make it to a Trader Joe's, their homeade tortillas, while on the thick side, are quite good.
Restaurants in Paso Robles
Villa Creek and Bisrto Laurent are both good choices. They are the two most established restaurants in town, very popular with locals and visitors alike. There is a new restaurant in town called Artisan. I have not been there yet, but I have spoken with numerous people who have...and they are all raving about it! They say the asian fusian cuisine it tasty, the wine list plentiful, and the service is great.
Santa Ynez and Paso Robles
If you are wine tasting on the weekends, be sure to check out Brian Benson Cellars. They only makes reds, but they are fabulous...and chances are good that you will meet Mr Benson himself!
Paso Robles Pinot
York Mountain Winery in Templeton has a terriffic selection of Pinot Noirs. They offer bottlings of Paso Robles & Edna Valley fruit, as well as a blend of the two. The tasting room is nothing fancy, but the wine is always good, the help is always nice, & the outside scenery is always beautiful :)
