Has anyone been to PF Chang Decarie? If so, what's your take on it? I have heard tremendous line-ups even at lunch and reservations necessary. Never ate at one in the States; so write 'em up and let us know |

Places that serve UNACCEPTABLE food I second Kimberleyblue. Mr. Ma's food was just downright awful. Speaking of Chinese I am so glad that Mahjongg closed as it was just a matter of time. |

I don't know a consensus on this but I hate metal chopsticks. I can never get that final speck of deliciousness with those damn things. Even in the 'fanciest of restaurants' serving Japanese I will ask for wood chopsticks. Who else? |

Can or does anyone know if Korean Food can be ordered via delivery? If so any in the NDG area? |

Adam on 1221 Steakhouse aka the old Queue de Cheval. Gotcha all. I wonder who Gibby's uses and or Moishe's? Rib N Reef? of course I cannot compare taste since I have not yet eaten at the 1221. Moishe's IMHO also find is a little downhill than it used to be |

Adam on 1221 Steakhouse aka the old Queue de Cheval. I wrote this after reading that the new Q is serving their meat by sourcing it at Pat Lafrieda in New York..." Please don't tell me that you are not dealing with Quebec suppliers but are giving your business across the border??????" Adam responded like this... "Hi Natalie, I appreciate your respect for Quebec-made food products, but we have searched the world for the finest meat EVER, and we found it! Especially with all the Alberta beef problems going on now, we know we made the right decision. We have even recently brought in some Quebec Wagyu, but unfortunately, it was not up to our standards. I assume you know that a steakhouse needs steaks that are abundantly marbled. I invite you to come try a bone-in LaFrieda Kansas Cut and see for yourself! What do you guys think about this? I would love some farmers to give their opinions...am I just a shit-disturber or do I feel this restaurant should choose locally? |

I know that Heinz ketchup is sold so I would think Heinz soups the condensed kind still are. The Heinz condensed Tomato soup was what I used to make myself for lunch in elementary school every day. Latch-key kid from Grade 3+ EVERY SINGLE DAY and watched Johnny Jellybean in front of the tv...C'mon someone out there don't let me look so old.... |

Attending McGill next year, give me some essentials! .alias if you are attending McGill next year as you say; I doubt you will have much time to 'eat out'...I would suggest you hone your dorm skills and get the cookbooks out there that dedicate themselves to how to cook on a hot pot or a propane table top burner. Furusato on bleury will be considered a 'high end' resto if you will be on limited funds and there are loads of inexpensive asian restos that are closer to Concordia. You are better off hitting the other side of St Laurent and Sherbrooke which becomes East, especially the cross streets. Learn to love sushi and Noodles. By your second semester you will be a maven on this beautiful city of ours. If you are doing an undergrad do not be fooled into thinking you can study like you did to get accepted: once in the courses are 10 times the amount of work. McGill takes most of its students from out of town so don't get fooled into thinking because you got in you can rest on your laurels...i am sure you will have study-shock ... and you don't want to have to lose that Freshman Fifteen...:)) |

Montreal w/ Kids and Parents -- Foodie family needs recs! Montreal is a totally kid friendly city. From the Old Port in the summer at our only food truck called Muvbox to the restaurants on St Laurent and down through St Denis...and of course all the quaint sububrbs that have great restaurants. However on Sundays waiting in line downtown for brunch at places like Eggspectation can be hard especially with hungry kids so I would take a taxi or use your GPS and find Cafe Orange (I always go there) or St Viateur Bagel Cafe on Monkland - Chez Cora is not so great. |

Attending McGill next year, give me some essentials! I am completely convinced that you and all your new-found friends will know where to go and what to eat. Lucky you as you will be in the heart of our city. My truly only suggestion outside of the obvious is to bring a really warm coat and flat boots as running from one building to another is a killer in winter. However, in the vein of this post and when you and a friend have a car I would get out of the downtown area on Sundays and head for Cafe Orange on Decarie Blvd for brunch; it is in a suburb of Montreal called NDG OR you can walk all through Monkland Village and find yourself a place to eat because it is one resto after another in another quaint street |

I don't know if it is for baking but the 'bulk cheese' by Liberty is also used for blintze stuffing and pierogi stuffing....it is a very thick cheese and can be bought anywhere |

What ever happened to the Online Petition for Montreal Food Trucks? Was it presented? I know I signed it but cannot find it... |
What happened to the Rubino Brothers of Rain. Do they have a restaurant in Toronto? |

If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal there are a bevvy of good small family owned restos especially when you hit close to the JTMarket. Greek food is at its best but I can't recall the resto name except to say it sits at a corner of Jean Talon on North side...but there are all kinds of good restaurants on this stretch of the city...Plus you can never go wrong to hit up any of the restos right at the market on Jean Talon...btw if you need a loose pair of pants after all your fab dinners then head to Loblaws and the biggest Joe Clothing Store at the corner of Hutchison, (I know where just not the names) |
If I say RUE VICTORIA (between Jean-talon and Ste-Catherine) in Montreal I have been born and bred here so I am going to say with uncertainty that Rue Victoria between Jean talon and St Catherine St have absolutely no restaurants worth mentioning except for the Victoria fish store for the city's best lox and perhaps a Kosher pizza place or two.... |

Wedding reception at a restaurant: on Grand Prix Weekend... help please? My first instinct was 'oh no- not Grand Prix weekend" and so was my 2nd. If indeed you are stuck on that weekend to have your reception I can only suggest that you choose a restaurant out of the downtown, Plateau, Little Italy areas. Although the 100.00 p/p is a great and generous price to consider as a reception cost Restaurants worth mentioning here are looking for a much larger price per person that weekend. I would have to say stay in the burbs at some quiet place where your business would be most welcome that weekend as the entire city will be in all the good places that Montreal is known for. Congratulations on the nuptials |

Has anyone tried this resto yet via home delivery or eat-in? |
saw them an hour ago while waiting at Burger de Ville on Westminister...saw them on a shelf in the depanneur across the street |

An Alternate Layover in Montreal I have to say considering the No Reservation episode of Montreal, that the producers got together to truly epitomize Montreal food. I remember seeing him sitting at and eating with an Inuit family and their traditional foods which should have been a show unto itself and not labelled Montreal. I was incensed |

Price of a Bagel, Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon in Montreal Try Cafe Orange their prices are reasonable but I don't know the price of the bagel sandwich. I do know however and oddly enough the St Viateur Bagel on Monkland has a horrible sandwich of this. Of course if someone, like myself, is whollly addicted to the smoked lox at Victoria's Fish Market - would never contemplate this in a restaurant...:)) |
I have eaten it at the Thai resto beside St Vateur Bagel resto on Monkland |

Prepared Christmas Dinner delivery to your door in Montreal? I would try Adam Catering even though they are a Kosher caterer they would probably do the meat side of your food. A turkey is a turkey even if it's Kosher and then you can surprise your guests with some different side dishes...just a thought. |
