Ciao Bella on 92nd closed?
Thanks for the update! I'm glad it's not closed for good.
Ciao Bella on 92nd closed?
I stopped by there yesterday and it was closed with paper on the windows. Anyone know if this is permanent?
Arzak - how bad is smoking section?
We ate here last week and could also only get a reservation in the smoking section. There was actually no one smoking in our area at all. There is a good amount of spacing between the tables so I do not think it would have been a problem anyway. It was well worth the risk!
Favorite quick weeknight meal?
Thanks everyone! I'll definitely be using your suggestions
Favorite quick weeknight meal?
My husband is the chef in our house, but he is going to be in class 2 nights a week for the next 2 years. So that leaves me in charge of dinner.
What are your favorite meals that take less than 30-45 minutes to prepare? We'll eat pretty much anything, healthy ideas preferred.
Thanks!
Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
We had our rehearsal dinner at Estia and I loved it. We had a private room for 50 but, I'm pretty sure that room opened up for bigger parties. The food and service were great. My favorite part was that there is a separate lounge area so we had a cocktail half-hour before dinner. It was nice to have all the family and out of town guests mingle before being seated.
Please help me choose wine for wedding reception
That is actually where we plan to go--should have mentioned that before!
Please help me choose wine for wedding reception
Thanks! I should have said though, that even though the wedding is in Philly, we'll probably purchase in NJ or DE.
Please help me choose wine for wedding reception
Thanks! Wedding is in Philadelphia.
Please help me choose wine for wedding reception
Hello,
My fiance and I could use some help choosing wine for our wedding reception. We need two reds and two whites (2 of which will be served at dinner). The meal is a split entree of filet with cabernet emulsion and lump crabcake with remoulade sauce. We would like to stay in the range of 12-16 per bottle.
This is what the liquor store suggested which seems incredibly uninspired considering they are all from the same vineyard and also are $17/bottle.
Estrella Proprietor's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (dinner white)
Estrella Proprietor's Reserve Shiraz (dinner red)
Estrella Proprietor's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (bar red)
Estrella Proprietor's Reserve Chardonnay (bar white)
Also would appreciate a champagne or sparkling wine rec. The store recommended Pascal Toso Brut Champagne for 15/bottle. I would prefer a good sparkling wine than a cheap champagne (but admit I'm not too knowledgeable here).
Thanks in advance!!
bridal shower
Here is a post from January which may help

In that post is a message about a shower I attended at Supper which was really nice
Restaurant for my rehearsal dinner for my September wedding
We just booked Estia for our November rehearsal dinner. It is a really pretty space and the banquet manager, Hilary, has been very responsive. I live out of town so have never actually eaten there, but have only heard good reviews. I orginally wanted a BYO restaurant, but found it hard to find place for a group our size (50).
East Side Restaurants
My first thought was Rafina Taverna on York between 78 and 79.
Greek restaurant with great grilled fish and not loud at all. I believe they have music late, after ten or so, but quiet before that.
Black & White Cookies?
Another vote for Pick-a-Bagel, but I haven't tried many of the others listed here. I'll have to get to work...
Potato Waffles in NYC
I had the potato waffle at Sarabeth's and thought it was pretty good. I don't see it on their current menu on menupages, though.
Best coconut cupcakes on the UES?
I don't know if Two Little Red Hens makes coconut cupcakes, but definitely worth giving them a call. All the other cakes/cupcakes I've had there have been great.
Best Upper Eastside Takeout????

NYC Bridal Shower Ideas
I attended a really nice baby shower brunch at Supper. There were about 15 people there, but definitely room for up to to 10-15 more. It's a private room--pretty and set up nicely. We were able to choose from the entire menu and they served a first course of salad and second course of lemon spaghetti before the main dish.
20 people for around 20 pp?
I'm trying to plan a 30th birthday party for my fiance. We're from Boston, but living in NYC so planning from afar. I would ideally like to keep it to less than 20 per person (not including tip, tax, and drinks). It would be for about 16-20 people on a Saturday night. These are the options I've thought about. Thoughts on these restaurants or any additional ideas? Any part of Boston, JP, Somerville and Cambridge are ok. Would probably like to keep it to American, Mexican, or Italian in consideration of my guest list.
