Well, did not get any replies to this post so I opened the bottle, it smelled like root beer, so I tossed it out. Still would like to know more about it...
Vanilla Donker Aroma from Aruba
A friend brought me a bottle of this and I'm wondering if it it real or imitation vanilla. The label is in Dutch (I think) and the ingredients are:
natuuridentieke smaakstof voor levensmiddelen, water, E-150
Have looked on the net and come up empty.
Large (47" x 25") galvanized steel pan for under grill or car
Have been searching for these for a long time and finally found them at Walmart for $9.86. Plan to use under a Weber Kettle...and they're made in the U.S.A.

Pho 29 Canton
Stopped here last night to try out the newly opened Pho 29. They doubled their size from the former Viet Grille and it is bright and comfortable. The new bathroom is a huge improvement. The new owner was gracious and brought us a complimentary appetizer of fried chicken which was moist and crispy. Lots of sauces to add a bit of heat. We ordered crispy spring rolls (fried) which were fine, but not especially outstanding, next time I would try the summer rolls instead. We really enjoyed the grilled pork and spring roll on rice vermicelli and vegetables. Very fresh tasting with thai basil, cilantro, and the usual dressing of fish sauce and shredded carrots. Lastly, we had the crispy hen. This was a favorite from the original Viet Grille, and while it was a beautiful presentation, we agreed it was not as crispy as before. Also, the stuffing was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. Overall, this place is still charming and will definitely return to try a bowl of pho.

Just took a drive out to Canton to see what was happening in this space. Well, they have reopened. Spoke with the new owner and looked at the new/remodeled space. Much more room and bright and clean. The former owner still helps out and advises, hope to see him when we go this Thursday. Crispy Hen is still on the menu! The new name is Pho 29.
Open on Christmas-Near Children's Hospital?
Last Christmas we enjoyed a lovely meal at Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square. Not far at all from Childrens.

Thanks so much! Will you repost if you see them opening? There is a small group of us in Boston/Cambridge who are panting for him to reopen his doors. He is such a sweet host and the food is one of our favorites.

Unfortunately, it closed in August. There was a sign on the door and their phone message said (back in September) that they were re-opening (under a new name) at the end of September. Does anyone know if they reopened? The old phone number rings but now there is no answer. Other than driving to Canton, I cannot think of any other way to find out what is happening. Any Chowhounds in the Canton area that can fill us in?

After over 2 years, Trader Joe's is carrying this mustard again. The jar is smaller and looks nothing like the old octagonal one, but after searching for it for so long, am glad it is back. It doesn't seem as hot as before but it has been so long...

Finally A Le Creuset French Oven We All Can Afford...
Also received a cobalt blue one today as gift from le Creuset. Such a nice marketing idea. It was just yesterday I was having a conversation with someone about how companies don't give things away (promotional) any more. Was remembering dishes in boxes of detergent, glasses with company logos, etc.
Ten Tables, Cambridge or JP, is there a difference?
I have only eaten at the JP one but friends that have dined in Cambridge said they would not return because IT IS SO LOUD!
KitchenAid mixer attachments + dishwasher = ruined?
Have at it with a Brillo or SOS pad. Have revived Aluminum sheet pans and measuring cups this way. They immediately look shiny and new.
Albanian restaurant returns to Roslindale -Arbri kafe
They opened two weeks ago and have not tried it yet, but it is in the same space (Belgrade Ave) as the previous Albanian restaurant. Menu looks similar. They open at 4:00. Wonder if anyone has tried it yet. The owner was very friendly and said that they have gyro sandwiches even though I did not see them on the menu.
Boschetto Bakery in Roslindale Closed! 1952-2009
I was shocked to find this out today. I was also surprised that I had read nothing about it on Chowhound. Their whipped cream and fruit cakes were crowd pleasers and will be sorely missed.

Porcelain coated cast iron grates
This happened to the grates on my Bosch range. Enamel was chipping off after less than a year. Called Bosch and the first call was unproductive. Called a second time and got a fantastic guy who sent me plain cast iron, no enamel, grates, free of charge. The grates are great and no more finding bits of enamel everywhere. So call the manufacturer, perhaps they have non enamel ones for your grill.
outdoor bbq grill - best bang for the buck
Some may find this off putting but I love Weber grills and have never bought one new. One I did pay five dollars for at a yard sale but the rest have been from the trash. I have a theory that people get them and then decide they don't like dealing with charcoal. One man's trash...
