4th Street Berkeley - New Restaurants?

Thanks all!

4th Street Berkeley - New Restaurants?

3-4 months. I'm so lame, I can't remember the names of the old restaurants that were in these locations, but there were 2-3 of them, across the street from Betty's.

4th Street Berkeley - New Restaurants?

Hi...

The last time I drove by 4th Street in Berkeley, it looked like there might be a few new restaurants. Anyone have any insights?

Thanks!

Brasserie Jo on West Hubbard carrot crudite

This is sort of off topic, but does anyone remember the name of the restaurant that was on the 7th floor of Water Tower Place when they first opened the retail space? They served things like sandwiches, salads, omelets, etc. They had the most menu items I'd ever seen (until Cheesecake Factory maybe). I thought it was a LEYE restaurant, but I could be mistaken.

Ricotta

Thanks so much everyone!

Ricotta

Hi...

Anyone have a recommendation where I can purchase really fresh ricotta? I'm in Oakland, but am willing to travel if necessary.

Thanks!

Diestel Turkey Prices

Hi...

Has anyone done any research on the least expensive Diestel turkey prices?

Market Hall on College has them for $6.99/lb.

Rockridge BART: what not to miss?

It's unbelievable rich, but incredibly memorable. I'd order it again in a heartbeat.

New Restaurants in Half Moon Bay

I really like It's Italia. I'm there a couple of times a month on average. They have great spaghetti, something I don't usually find at other restaurants. I also really like most of their salads. If you want soupy carbonara, you should definitely try Milano, the restaurant that went into the old It's Italia space. Yuck!

Organized Culinary Tours of Bay Area

What a great gift. Please let us know if you find anything!

bakesale betty's rules

Another BSB fan. :) I love the chicken sandwiches, the chicken pot pie, and the pecan shortbread cookies. The chicken pot pie is sometimes available in individual size.

Pres a Vi Report

I was there this week with 3 friends. I was pretty unhappy with 2 of the 3 dishes I ordered, but everyone else was delighted. I tasted the duck buns, and all I can say is YUM! They were fabulous. Also, 2 of my friends had the roast chicken, and it was done perfectly. (I'm talking.. better than Zuni!.) I had the ahi tartare that was OK, but really spicy (couldn't figure out what the spice was, but it wasn't wasabi). I also had the tomato risotto, which was REALLY salty.

I would definitely go back for the duck buns and the chicken.

Need Help Big Time-Pressure is on

Haven't been for awhile, but loved the bar at Cosmopolitan Cafe.

Private Dining Room for 10 people

I haven't been a subscriber for awhile, but Zagat online used to have a function where you could search for restaurants with private rooms.

Rubashkin's Aaron's Best Turkey

In the latest issue of Cook's Illustrated, there's an article on a turkey taste test. Rubashkin's Aaron's Best ended up in the Highly Recommended category. Does anyone know if they're available anywhere in the Bay Area?

Meggie (or anyone else who has tried Spruce)... can you comment on the noise level?

Thanks!

Lunch in Half Moon Bay?

Although Duarte's is far from being what most people would consider gourmet, I do like their artichoke soup, but it's even better when ordered half and half with their green chile soup. It's absolutely delicious.

SF: Great Restaurants With Bar Dining?

Town Hall!

help: dinner spot in Half Moon Bay

You won't be able to hear one another at Mezza Luna.

Boulevard - What do you LOVE on the menu?

Boulevard has always been known for their pork entrees. I've had them at least a dozen different ways, and they've always been outstanding. I also love their soups and their desserts.

Bakery for Sunday Breakfast

The lines are always long, but the food is absolutely fabulous at Tartine Bakery on Guerrero & 18th.

Brussels Sprouts on the Menu in SF?

I don't like brussels sprouts, but LOVED them at Michael Mina.

Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen

To answer my own question, Angeline's is not busy for lunch, at least on Mondays. It was relatively quiet, and we were not rushed in the least.

The food was really fabulous. I had the roast beef sandwich, recommended by our waitress, with a side of red beans and rice. The sandwich was wonderful, with great flavor and interesting textures. The side of red beans and rice was also good, but a little salty for my taste. We split an order of hushpuppies and they were, as others have indicated, absolutely perfect. My friends also loved their food, especially the gumbo.

I can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen

I'd like to try Angeline's next week for lunch. Can anyone tell me whether this is the sort of place one can linger and talk? How noisy is it?

Thanks!
