Patrick's Roadhouse Passing into History Shortly

so i guess it's still open? guy fieri just recommended the caviar burger and i'm going to take i drive. i hope it's still there....

Best restaurant in Buenos Aires- La Cabrera

I was there a month ago and I still can't stop thinking about this restaurant. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city in every way, the people are lovely, the food great everywhere but this place just stands out above everything. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Taverna Tony

Love that restaurant tho I go there almost never. The tarama was amazing! You can also find it at all Farmer's Market's around town, all the the hummus vendor have the taramosalada and it lasts forever.....

Heirloom tomatoes

i assume heirlooms are at their peek right now. Is there a 3 month season, 2 month season? I just paid $2.99lb at our great Gelson's Market in L.A. and they were just about as good as the Farmer's Market tomatoes I picked up thursday. I just want to know if there's a cut-off date for them.

"Little Brazil", Culver City,CA-A gastronomic tour through a yet unnamed Brazilian enclave in LA

sorry to jump in here out of nowhere but i have to come to the rescue of Bamboo. Tho called Caribbean and not fitting into this discussion, I have say that the food is wonderful. I've only been infrequently since it opened and no longer working at Sony, I haven't been for awhile but just thinking about the chicken dish with sweet peppers makes me want to head straight there tomorrow. I think I will as they provide a great plate of food!

Tavern in Brentwood

I read that tread last night and I don't think there was much info yet since it hadn't opened. some speculation but can't wait til someone has been there and posts....

Best Calamari

If you like sauteed calamari, not fried, than I would suggest GIOVANNI in Culver City and PASTINA on Westwood Boulevard in West Los Angeles. Both are sauteed in a marinara and are just wonderful.

Fraiche?

Fraiche is a delight. You should definitely give it another try!

The Apple Pan.

I just returned and as usual, it was fabulous. That might have something to do with the fact that I was raised there or............that the taste of the hickory sauce mixed with the pickle can't be beat. And the fries, if you like them crisp and crunchy, no problem there. I, like many, understand the lore and also just adore the process!

dinner - MDR, Culver City, or Venice

Bamboo on Venice a few blocks west of Overland. Wonderful Caribbean food with great prices.

No more Hebrew National Kosher Hot Dogs at Costco Food Court [moved from Los Angeles board]

my 94 year old mom is going to costco today and that is the highlight of her trip. I don't think i'm going to tell her and I'll see what she thinks. If I do tell her, she probably won't get out of bed. that sucks!

Operation: Best Chocolate Chip Pancakes OR Waffles

I'll add Griddle Cafe for anything related to Pancakes period. Just amazing tasty choices, lots of bang for your buck. I've only been there a few times and I love it!!

The Luau in Beverly Hills

I would be very surprised if this resembled the old Luau in any way, shape or form.

Comme Ca or Osteria Mozza

Loud is an understatement. Went to Comme Ca for a 7:30 reservation. The place was maybe 2/3's full if that but the noise level was totally uncomfortable. We left before we ordered and settled in to the very unhip Lawry's for some terrific prime rib. That place is soo unhip that it's almost hip. Nothing could have made up for that noise level. Maybe that we were all over 40 had something to do with the discomfort.. I'll try lunch, maybe it' will be better.

Looking for high end restaurant/Studio City to Tarzana

thank you. all suggestions are very welcome as a friend has to plan a dinner and doesn't have a clue. again, thanks

Looking for high end restaurant/Studio City to Tarzana

For a party of about 30. A restaurant with a private room. Any suggestions? Don't bother yourself with details, I'm just looking for suggestions that fit this criteria. Nothing exotic, just American, Italian or French food. Thanks

How dressy is Fraiche on a week night?

lol wolfgang. took me a minute to get that.....

serious quiet conversation + good food in culver city?

Giovanni's at clarrington and venice. wonderful simple italian, quiet and comfortable.

Where should we eat in Culver City?

i'm going to throw my 2 cents in with Natalie Thai and Giovanni for great italian at Venice and Clarrington and a few blocks down on Venice just west of Motor there's Gaby's with the best hummus and great mediterranean food. Not fancy like Fraiche, Ford's or Wilson's but great.

A Week of Eating Alone at LA's Best Restaurants

I totally agree about Anisette. Great food, casual atmosphere, highly recommended. Less pricy re Japanese, how about Hamasaku on Santa Monica Blvd in West L.A.

What's the Best Eating Street in LA?

I'm going to have to agree about Culver City. It's become just an amazing destination for food. I never ever would have thought this was possible but I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Ford's, Wilson's, Fraiche, Father's Office, it just goes on and on and I'd like to throw in Gaby's and Giovanni just a few blocks away.

What Should I Order at BLT tonight?

Sorry, too late, but I hope you had the Onion Rings, a few of the side vegetable dishes, the pop-overs and then of course, any entree that appealed to you. Most of all, the Onion rings.....

Culver City - Lunch Help

and try Giovanni's at Clarrington and Venice. Great Italian. And for yummy simple salads, give Scratch at Hughes and Washington a try.

New List: Culver City's What Is Everyone Thinking?

Giovanni at Clarrington & Venice...great simple Italian food
Gaby's - recently re-opened on Venice. Great Mediterranean food (hummus is a must)
Scratch - exceptional salad dressing on the nicoise salad
Quite a few special japanese restaurants, sorry I don't know the names but one is next door to Trader Joe's and the one on the same block as Starbuck's has the best Salmon Skin Salad ever....

Gaby's on Venice Back Open!

trust us on this one. try anything, the appetizer platter with humus, tabuli, etc. the dip they serve you when you sit down that's for dunking your pita in is worth the trip, the salad with huge chunks of tandori chicken, i'm kinda stuck there and just love the place.

Gaby's on Venice Back Open!

than you. I just love Gaby's, think the hummus is just the best along with several other dishes. Not fancy but just yummy mediterranean. I'm glad it's re-opened.

craft

i'll be there too.

ANIMAL Rocks

thanks for the advise. well, i'll go earlier and sit at the bar if there isn't just an outrageous wait. that soft shell crab sounds worth the wait though.

REVIEW: ANISETTE, ANOTHER VIEW

I thought the same thing about Balthazar

ANIMAL Rocks

Are you saying that you can just drop in without a reservation and eat at the bar? I get the feeling that this place is going to be real trouble when it comes to getting a reservation, it sounds just great.
