Your favorite recipes that use ground almonds?

If you're looking for something savory (and it's not too hot to think about soup where you are, although this might also be quite good chilled), then I love this recipe. I have substituted TJ's ground almonds for the hazelnuts before and it is delicious.

Severe Food Allergy; Looking for a fish sauce substitute.

Sundays at Moosewood Cafe has a recipe for a vegetarian fish sauce recipe. I've never tried it, so I don't know how good it is but maybe others on this board have and can comment?. I would try googling for this recipe.

I buy mine in bulk from the local natural foods/health food store. I haven't bought it in a while, so I don't have a prices per pound, but it was not very expensive at all.

What to wear to Eleven Madison Park?

A group of girlfriends (mid-30's in age) are meeting in NYC next weekend and have reservations at Eleven Madison Park. I'm very excited about the food but it's been several years (and two kids) since I've been to NYC and have no idea what clothing is appropriate for a Saturday night dinner (early dinner - later reservations were already gone!) at this restaurant. Help!

dried corn husks for tamales in New Haven

I'm looking for dried corn husks to make tamales. I have the impression that I have seen these all over the place, but then when I want to actually buy them - I can't find them anywhere! I live in East Rock and don't have a car. I think I've checked all the obvious places within walking distance of my house and caught a ride to the Stop & Shop in Hamden last weekend and had a friend who was going to Edge of the Woods this morning check there - no luck! Anyone know where I can find these within walking distance of East Rock? Thanks!

Freezing biscuits?

Biscuits recipes are very easy to divide by two or four or however many you need to make as few as you want to make. I make biscuits for the two of us all the time by making 1/6 of my favorite recipe. Because the dough is so easy and fast to throw together, there is no reason to bother with freezing.
