Soup dumplings/Shanghai-style Chinese in Detroit?
I am visiting my mother in metro Detroit, and the last time she visited me in Brooklyn I took her to a restaurant in Brooklyn that served Shanghai soup dumplings. Since then, she's been bugging me to find someplace in Detroit where she can have them.
Any ideas? We are in Royal Oak, but willing to travel anywhere in the metro area - she loves them.
Recession Eats [split from Outer Boroughs]
I haven't been down there in awhile, but you're right, it's still a good deal.
Does Prosperity have the good scallion pancakes, too? That's a big draw for me.
Should I visit Brooklyn for a meal?
Agreed. DiFara's is better in the summertime, when you can hop back on the Q and go either to Coney Island or wander around Prospect Park.
Great street food in Midtown
Thanks for the jerk chicken suggestion, it tends to be hit or miss around here.
I'd pass up wichcraft, though. The sandwiches are too expensive for what they are.
Recession Eats [split from Outer Boroughs]
The ultimate in recession eating are the 5-for-$1 dumplings at Dumpling House on Eldridge.
Also, the vegan food cart in Washington Square Park!
Trip Report with Pictures: 41-28 Main Street Mall, Flushing (Painfully Long)
Whoa, thanks for the great report! I've been to the mall several times for shopping activities, but have never tried the food. I foresee a trip to Flushing in the near future!
best indian restaurant?
Dosa Diner is SUBLIME. I've always wondered why people skip straight to Jackson Diner, but don't usually give Dosa a heads up.
best indian restaurant?
I love Madras Cafe, although quality's slipped in the past couple of years. The best is undoubtedly in Jackson Heights - I usually go to Delhi Palace.
