Asian Food in Charleston

The sushi at Tsunami in Mt. Pleasant is really, really good!

Affordable Disney

Also have to add that for adventurous eaters, you might want to try Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is an absolutely GORGEOUS Disney resort. Boma is a buffet restaurant and a very good value, IMO, for what you get. Here is a link to Boma's b'fast menu (they also serve dinner) http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_boma.htm
Their Bobotie is delish!!
The only thing is, this place can get very packed. You must be sure to have a reservation. You can go early or stay late and walk around the Arusha Rock overlooking the resort's main "savanna" and observe the African animals (wildebeest, ankole cattle, zebras, giraffes) - it's awesome!

Transportation-wise, if you don't want to spend the money on cab fare, you could take a bus to the Animal Kingdom PARK and then from there, take the Animal Kingdom LODGE bus (which is only a few min. away from the park) Good luck!

Are you talking about the new pub at Downtown Disney? It's called Raglan Road. I have not yet been but the reviews I've read are mostly positive. Here is a link to their menu

(I hope I'm allowed to post that)
Another good counter service place at Animal Kingdom park is Tusker House, at the back of the park, near the Safari ride...

P.S. You MUST go over to the Grand Floridian (it's pretty much across the street from Shades of Green) to see their Christmas decorations, in particular the life-sized gingerbread house! They sell gingerbread cookies, white chocolate Mickeys w/ gold leaf and delicious Stollen...

My favorite dining spot in the Magic Kingdom is Tony's Town Square which is right inside the gates, on the right. We usually go for lunch on our way OUT of the park. Actually - they were just getting ready to change the menu the last time I was there (August), so I'm not sure I should recommend it...Be sure to call Disney Dining and make dining reservations for any sit-down restaurants you plan to dine in...

Have a wonderful trip!!

If you are not already locked into it, I would consider blowing off the Luau - it takes up lots of time and I have never read a good review of it. I don't mean to be a downer, but I know it isn't cheap and if you're at all a foodie you will NOT be happy with the food. I ahve never done that and I do know of people who've thought it was ok - but the food is not the draw. It's a dinner show. I've seen many families herded over to the Luau area during my stays at the Poly...
Anyway, Kona Cafe at the Polynesian is a very good restaurant. It is moderately priced...
I would recommend Tangierine Cafe (counter service) in Epcot in the Morocco pavilion. The food is reasonably priced (for Disney). Most importantly - YUMMY!
I also like the eating establishments in Animal Kingdom Park. It is all counter service except for Restaurantosaurus, I believe. Flame Tree BBQ is good. I will do some research and post again. (I go to Disney all the time and eat at my resort's food court/pool or park counter service for lunch and then nice dinners at night (Jiko, Flying Fish and California Grill are my faves) Magic Kingdom theme park food is the least good- especially their counter service. Frankly, for cheap eats, I would recommend hot dogs at Casey's right on Main Street.

Party of eight in Orlando - where should we eat?

I HIGHLY recommend Jiko at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge! I've dined there at least ten times and never had a bad experience. Beautiful setting, great people working there and the food is delicious! You will not regret it...just be aware that, since it is Disney (the only exception to this being Victoria & Albert's) there will most likely be kids around...

I recommend the Lamb Patis ("Pulled lamb rolled in Phyllo with Mint-Cilantro Chutney"), Kenyan Coffee BBQd Chicken flatbread (w/ onion, apple and cheeses), the short ribs are always delicious, as is the new salmon dish (w/ edamame, a cucumber yougurt sauce...)Filet on a bed of rich macaroni and cheese is one of their most popular dishes. FABULOUS wines, like the Anura Pinotage! (Ask for Karim, Lucius or Nasser for your server!!) Jiko is an amazing dining experience...

Feeding group of 50 Seafood in Charleston

Try Momma Brown's in Mt. Pleasant on Ben Sawyer Blvd for no-frills but delish BBQ... and, if it is still around, The Wreck in Mt. Pleasant for no-frills seafood! Good luck with all those teens!

Traveling to SoCal for my bday. Where to have bday dinner?

Traveling to SoCal for my bday. Where to have bday dinner?

I'll be in Solana Beach/La Jolla/Laguna Beach area for the few days in and around my 40th birthday. I would love to make res. somewhere special (party of 2-4). Hoping we might even be able to dine al fresco (early Feb.)...delicious food and WINE and wonderful atmosphere are the key - not (necessarily) fancy or hot spot, so that's why I'm asking here!! Price range not really important either. Want it to be a wonderful, relaxed evening more than anything. Thanks!
